Indeed, wtf is up with contaminating sandwiches anyway?
If i want a ham sandwich i want ham and bread, no salad, no tomato, no mayo, no mustard etc etc etc.

If you’ve bashed it, change it.

    This for me

Probably not the response you are looking for:

Ride your bike for weight loss, run for whatever reason you like when you are light.
I really don’t like running as a weight loss mechanism as the extra weight being carried means the knees and ankles get a pounding.

patients lying either side of her are screaming in pain

    Been there, done that.
The answer to the pain relief button (epidural pump) stopping working was: “Well don’t press the button”
Was around 6hrs of agony before a shift change brought in a nurse who cared.

I’ve certainly well and truly used up my NHS credits, but in many cases I can’t say it has been a good experience.

    Watching with interest.
Not particularly close to needing new tyres, but had my eye on these for when I do.

Never know Weeksy, you might start off a nationwide trend of turboing in trail centre car parks 😀

3 rides for me so far.
    1 MTB, 1 Road, 1 Turbo.
Should get another 2 over the weekend.

Actually there’s no direct link to your messages in the litte drop down either.

There is when you are in your profile page – although at that point its a little pointless as you have a tab for messages on screen already.

I’m still persevering with my hate/hate relationship with flats on one bike in a fruitless attempt to learn to bunny hop properly.

The GC importer is also garbage.
Exported all my rides from Strava and tried to import into GC at which point it freezes and dies.
Turns out its something to do with date stamping of the files or some nonsense.
Anyway, end result was GC only stayed on my PC for a few days.
Yet another case of ‘you get what you pay for’

grate another layer of cheese on top
    add a little black pepper
bake in the oven for ~10-15 mins

60 % have less than 1k saved its because they dont earn enough to save rather than lack of “prudence”

I’d love to see some facts/figures on that.
All i see everywhere is people pissing money away on monthly subs (smartphones, netflex, 100000mbit internet etc) and then wondering how it is they have no money. And that’s before we get to interest payments on the debt they have built all so they can view facebook in 1080p whilst on the bus.

your statement being true for 10% I could quite believe, but 60% seems a little far fetched.

Windstopper base layer is for when you sit directly under an AC unit at work but are still expected to have a professional shirt+tie appearance. Can’t think of any other use for one.

    fifeandy

    No, it won’t help.
I already use barometric devices (Edge 800/810), and they don’t play nicely with large swings in temperature over the day or with wet rides.
Since they are planning to correct using the base map for rides recorded with a barometric device you are still screwed.

    fifeandy

you mean made them more realistic?

No, I mean over-inflated them massively.
    For example: https://www.strava.com/activities/732648541

It was a hard day out on the bike sure enough, but not 18,000ft hard!

use the correct altitude button for both rides on strava and they should be pretty close.

Use with caution – has totally wrecked climbing stats on some of my rides and can’t be reversed.

Easy, stick a camera on an out-front mount and ride wearing VR goggles.
You can then enjoy the ride without ever having to look at it 💡

Yes, its bound to interfere. 10hrs a week is already at the limits of what some people can tolerate whilst working full time and thats before you stack marathon training on top.

    Lol, skinsuit in February.
Castelli thermosuit maybe – not as aero, but i saw some graph from gore promoting windstopper that suggested significant performance gain from regulating body temperature.

Doubt it was a mileage/wear thing, the one i had had <10k on the clock.
Could be some sort of bad quality control i guess and it was a dud.

I normally drive an i40 which itself is far from an inspiring drive, and before that a leon fr which was ace to drive and a civic which was fun but not special.

Admittedly none are small cheap cars, but i was literaly shocked at how bad that one was.

Every training plan has to be “considered” and logical otherwise it is not a “plan”

That deserves a sticky all of its own.

SES just like the SDA is a national series

    Yes and no.
Yes, because technically it’s correct that it is a national series and drawing bigger numbers than the UK series.
However we have no real regional series to act as competition and draw riders away.

And at the risk of taking the lid off a whole other argument, when talking about a ‘British’ series, that makes Scotland a region, in much the same way an English or Welsh series would also be regional.

Either way, is it possible we are maybe seeing some of the issues I brought up in the XC thread come up in an Enduro setting? Some in the thread have mentioned over saturation of events. Maybe looking at it from the other angle, there aren’t enough grass roots races and hence by extension not a high enough population of competitive riders to justify a proper high level series? Just a thought.

@mrblobby & fifeandy Really!? I’m currently dropping my weight down from 70kg to 68kg – I felt healthier at this weight & thought I would be faster in Zwift and the real world if I was able to keep my FTP W around 340!?!?

Well 340/68 is clearly going to give better results than 340/70, but for UK racing i’d rather have 345/70 even though its technically ‘worse’.

W/Kg is nice on sustained climbs with buttery smooth surfaces where you can wear down heavier riders, but since there’s very few of those climbs in the UK and there aren’t any races that finish at the top of them, give me raw W every time.

What. Then there wouldn’t be any races would there? Your expectations are unrealistic!

But are they, or is it that expected levels of infrastructure surrounding the events with marshals, super duper timing, first aid etc etc are inflating the price of the event beyond what makes sense for many people?

Don’t get me wrong, I pay to enter several events at varying price points every year, but every year I also see prices increase. Its becoming more and more the case that a weekend away for some events (including travel, B&B etc) is costing a small fortune.

This is a very good/horrible 40 minute GCN session. Properly nasty if done properly.

Agreed, its a good session, although would disagree its nasty as sweetspot isn’t that hard over such a short duration.
It should also be noted GCN have screwed up the effort scale in this years videos.
    Sweetspot is ~6.5/10 not 8.
Also best to extend this session a bit with 10mins easy riding bolted on each end for warm up and cool down.

I’ve just made this up btw, so someone shoot me down if it’s not going to work!

It’ll kind of work but not very well.
    A) Your example is linear – most trainers have a resistance curve
    B) Each model of turbo trainer has a different curve
    C) Different trainers of the same type that should be the same also have a different curve
    D) And to cap it all off, the curve alters (sometimes dramatically) depending on the temperature.

Might have missed that. I’d be a bit cautious of focusing on w/kg for real world racing. Easy to get a bit obsessed with a target and try and hit it by focusing on the kg. For most UK road racing (flatish crits and TT) it really is more about the w (and the CdA) than the kg. I’d happily put on a few kg if it meant a few more watts, even if my overall w/kg went down.

    I’d second that.
As a very light rider all I see is disadvantages when riding in the UK.
If my targets were road racing in the UK i’d be doing everything I could to gain weight/power.

Some kind of structure for each session is an absolutel must. Trainerroad is very good for this but things like the Sufferfest (or Zwift plans) work too.

    +1
You can also find plenty of turbo workouts of varying quality on YouTube.

Otherwise, something like a 30/30 session – hard to get bored when you are constantly shifting gear and breathing out of your arse.

Got to say i’m very confused by all the suggestions to carry around more weight. 200W for 20mins is still 200W for 20mins regardless how heavy you make the bike.

Not a Duster, but my Dacia experience is to stay well away. They may be cheap, but cheap is not necessarily good value.

I had a Sandero as a courtesy car which:
    Didn’t accelerate,
    didn’t brake,
    didn’t steer when you wanted,
alarmingly, did steer when you didn’t want,
    was very noisy,
had virtually no adjustment options for driving position,
which combined with a comical bite point on the clutch lead to me banging knee on back of the steering wheel every gear change (I’m not even tall).

I didn’t actually think it was possible to make (and sell) a truly terrible car these days, but Dacia have managed it.

Depends what your LTHR test tells you.
