Its an odd feature of the ‘floating’ design elite use. Works great for normal weight people, but doesn’t generate enough resistance for very light riders and makes too much resistance for very heavy riders.

Took my ss for a nice flat spin round tentsmuir today.
It was easy and i was always in the right gear – win!

@dazh has a good point. First time i tried to do a hilly ss ride off road i tried a 15% climb and ruined my back

I don’t thing there is a direct schwalbe equivalent with a pronounced gap to the edge.
    Maybe the fat albert (front)?

Isn’t the Epic an XC race bike?

From the original description of a light full sus that doesn’t bob too much an XC race bike may well be exactly what he’s after.

As for the list – add a Scott Spark (not the RC version).

Depends a bit on the exercise bike really. Some have some bizarre crank lengths, weird angles or GIGANTIC saddles which make them not really much like cycling at all.
But assuming you can get a decent fit, biking is indeed beneficial for biking. Just load up the GCN youtube channel, find the training videos and crack on.

Neither was I this morning when all that loaded was the header and a black page!

Those nature valley ones are nice but v v dry.

Agreed, would probably take about 15 mins per mouthful trying to eat on the bike

good result P Jay, now go ride use your booster cylinder to spray tubeless fluid all over the kitchen

Takes about 20 minutes to fit them.

If you know what you are doing, and are lucky with fixing points on frame and don’t need some bodging witchcraft which will cost a further 3hrs and 27 swear words.

Two skinned knuckles and 9 swear words to get the stays cut to length.

Can be avoided with a Dremmel, but the sparks may set fire to your kitchen

Then an hour and 16 swearwords after your first ride to get them straight and rub/rattle free.

Guess I was lucky as I avoided this step :)

Not convinced about 4K, there’s not been a massive surge in content produced.
Just take a look in your local supermarket and you’ll find LOADS of DVD’s, a few Blurays and 2-3 in 4K.
Unlike 3D, I think 4K will take off and become mainstream eventually, but eventually could be 5-10yrs down the road.

    95%+ from the door.
Its generally more gravel bike territory than proper MTB, but it’s what i’ve got available, and its quite a drive to anything much better.

If we are using the weather to determine the seasons, the last few years have been:
    Spring: Apr
    Summer: May
    Autumn: Jun-Oct
    Winter: Nov-Mar

@sofaboy73 and @BadlyWiredDog pretty much covered it.
The confusion isn’t helped by poor descriptions from the clothing manufacturers, and lack of info from material manufacturers.
People often reference ‘Gore Windstopper’, but Gore actually produce several fabrics under the ‘Windstopper’ name that range from very thin like that used in the Castelli Perfetto, to thicker and fleece backed.

I can do 242 in Z2 nowadays too

Just as well, cos you use 142 of them catching the wind like a sail :P

    KFC chips, they are foul.

An XL bacon double cheese burger meal, whilst hungover, on the other hand…

No need for the hangover, perfect any time you want cheering up and then to slip blissfully into a coma whilst you digest it

    Would be 50/50 I reckon.
Hands at 10-2 and feeding the wheel, parallel parking (might not be so bad in a dinky little driving instructors car) and engine braking would be the most likely to catch me out.

I find a gentle ride helps things recover more than no ride, but there is a school of thought that recovery rides are just for hyperactive roadies that can’t leave the bike alone for the day, and I’m not sure what the science says.

iirc, the science doesn’t say anything. The theory however is that a very slow ride encourages recovery by increasing blood flow (and hence nutrient delivery). In addition there’s the also unproven theory that more pedalling increases pedalling economy.

My thoughts are: If feeling a bit sore but not too tired, a recovery ride is good. If feeling genuinely tired, a nap on the sofa is better.

Ah, one of my favourite rant topics.
Halfords, Supermarkets etc all sell ready mixed screenwash that freezes at only slightly below freezing. Some claim to have a better rating, but if they do in reality its marginal.
My sister had a 5L bottle freeze into a giant blue ice cube in her boot a couple of years ago.
I used to use Holts as my go to, but they seem to have joined the supermarket quality offerings.

The daddy of all screenwash is official VW Group one:

No thermostat for me, cos like weeksy I still have storage heaters which are currently set to 5.75(whatever that may mean).
If I ever join the civilised world of central heating, it’ll probably be set to 22.5°C

I’m sure i’m missing the point of this thread, but surely the point of buying just fillets is you’ve paid someone to get rid of the unwanted bits of chicken for you. Life is too short to be messing around with random bits of chicken.

The trial only starts when you actually ride, so you could install it & when you open the program you have the option to ‘just watch’ from the page where you connect the trainer & other sensors.

Once you’ve done that, you will be in the Zwift environment. Down the right hand side of the screen will be a list of riders. Look for one who’s putting out a decent w/kg value & click on their name. You will then follow them.Does that mean we can all become Weeksy stalkers for free then?

I’m not in any way a builder/bodger, but having just had to patch a ceiling, its not actually that hard.
You cut out the damaged piece of plasterboard, and enlarge in rectangle shape to nearest wooden beams behind. Attach new strips of 2×2 to the inside edges of current beams to screw replacement board to.
I guess at this stage you might also consider putting additional wooden beams in as attachment points for your heater?
This is the easy bit – if I can do it, anyone can.

Then follow one of many youtube videos for plastering a patch, which they make look easy, but is not so much….

Don’t think you are going to find anything of comparable thickness to the Endura Thermolites that are any warmer. I actually really rate them down to low single figures.
Woolie Boolies are significantly warmer, but also significantly thicker.
Maybe what you need is overshoes?

    Which rat poison stw?

Dunno, but I did discover if a mouse eats a significant quantity of it, it ‘burns’ through the mouse from the inside out and leaves a mouse with no belly and pile of poison.
Bit grim, but guess it serves it right for being greedy and stealing the rats dinner.

I’m not brave at all, and I like cooked breakfasts, so i’d go with the good old ‘arrive 2hrs before’ and stop to fill my face with sausages.

Like several others, no objection if participant is paying for all costs themselves, but not paying for someones ‘holiday’ for them, and frankly its a bit cheeky to even ask.

Endura thermolites are nice and warm, and the water repellancy is good. Fit is a bit meh though.
Castelli velocissimo are very nice, but front is a bit high and it makes watering the bushes a bit of a challenge.

@jambo, glad you said it first – i was thinking his ‘spirited’ was 40mph down the motorway. Back when i had a car that was conducive to spirited driving fronts only lasted 8k.

@kormoran, don’t pay too much attention to reviews, they are often conducted in conditions and on road surfaces that rarely exist in the UK. I remember a set of bridgestones i had that were superb – but only if you could get them hot, which with a combination of Scottish weather and getting held up by traffic was very rare. When not hot they were fairly mediocre.

If you don’t know much about it, best bet is to decide a budget and get something from a company that specialise in gaming PC’s (i’ve used overclockers.co.uk and chillblast) before and have been happy with both.
Not sure whats currently on offer as i tend to get something relatively future proof and keep for 5 years.
Spent around £1100 both times, although may be a little more now since the fall in the value of the £.

@molgrips: excellent point, and one reason i’m against sugar tax, and super annoyed by lucozade (semi) recently halving their sugar (and hence calorie) content. For people with severely reduced appetite for whatever reason, stuff that is usually deemed unhealthy can be the only thing keeping them going.

Have used the maltodextrin powder @tj mentioned, and also a giant bottle of liquid fat to stir into stuff. A dietitian will be able to help out with other tricks like ‘super’ milk (full fat milk with instant milk powder mixed in).

Not played cod for a few years but it looks like a bad PS3 game

Not sure what settings are available on consoles, but what’s your point exactly? For MP you usually turn off most gfx settings anyway.
    Foliage – gone
    Grass – gone
    Particle effects – gone
    Motion blur – gone
    Dynamic camera – gone
    Minimap – huge

Most of the things that make a game look pretty also make you worse at the game, and if you are taking the time to notice pretty things you probably aren’t noticing something else that’s actually important.

Played some mp yesterday and a bit this morning and holy moly it looks terrible, especially compared to battlefield 1 which is what I normally play.

If you’re noticing how it looks in multiplayer you’re probably doing something a bit wrong.
