Of course easiest way to get full range of German lights is to go to a German website, didn’t think of that.

Browsing that, just came across the Lupine SL A7 for the first time.
Really nice light – tad expensive though!

Seeing as we’re on the topic, does anyone have any recommendations for good (bright, decent run time, water/mud proof) rear light that don’t cost silly money?

+1 for no SixPack on the road, just blinds every other road user, and even yourself from some reflective signs if they are at the wrong angle.

interesting article online about cutting certain knobs off to increase the edge grip on Crossmark’s

They’ve supposedly fixed the size of those knobs on the CrossmarkII so that is no longer needed.

    They are really, surprisingly good.

To a roadie, Vittoria making a good tyre is not a surprise at all.

People do it on SS, but they are crazy imo.
Relentless course the last 2 years has been hillier than 10 under (packed almost as much climbing into a lap 5km shorter)

Basically 2 main climbs/2 descents per lap with a short steep climb between the two main climbs.
First climb spilts in two, with a 10-12% climb, a short rest, then a 12-20% climb.
The mini climb that takes you up to the 4X course is very short, but brutally steep.
The final climb is a much more mellow flowly climb that would work well SS.

    Edit: 2016 lap here:

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but its same topic so….

Checked my cooker 0 yesterday, and can confirm (its been asked a few times) that it comes set up with tubes, and some Charge rim tape that suggests a WTB TCS kit.
I can also confirm that the Trailblazers are insanely tight on the rims, and i’ve no idea how i’m going to get them off!

But anyway, what size rim tape for 40mm ID rims?
Google suggests anything from 25mm to 45mm – I is confused?

99.8% – leave him a little left over to buy a bike to commute to training on.

Of that there is no doubt, and pretty sure it’d feel quite wrong on the legs riding the full 270km course on a HT too!

Adventure bike on WTB horizons looks like a nice option though. Or maybe for the OP some 700×40 marathon supremes which may fit in a CdF?

Not a huge fan of the BB7’s on my boardman cx, although possible they could be suffering from cheap stretchy cables.

Seem to need adjusting quite regularly to avoid excessive lever travel, and power is mediocre at best.

I once thought ‘surely BB30 can’t be as bad as people make out’. I now have 1 bike with BB30 – it creaks obviously.

Going to have trouble getting something that’ll fit 30″ waist and 6’3 (likely short in both the legs and the straps). May work better for you with some thick leg warmers?

Ridden loads this year (7830km), but that’s about where the good news ends. It’s been pretty miserable weather, and i’ve not really done anything to make good use of any fitness gains.
Now have a minor knee niggle, generally feeling a bit burnt out and have a load of chains need changing and tyres need changing/tubelessing :(

@dovebiker, check out the video gcn did. 29er hardtail is the fastest type of bike over the cobbles, so it’s not a case of doing it wrong.

So, you’re ok with being generally offensive, so long as you’re right?

Only the professionally offended would take that as offensive.
In much the same way you could say 9st is very light for a rugby player. Doesn’t stop them playing should they wish to do so, but their body shape isn’t exactly suited for it, and they’ll find it more difficult than someone larger.

Anyone doing any sort of exercise is a great thing – but that’s not to say that every body size/shape is ‘normal’ for every sport.

But if me being offensive will make you sleep better at night then hand over the badge and i’ll happily wear it.

    flat out wrong.

Flat out wrong except all the components where the OP is indeed over the weight limit right?
10lbs over the weight limit for vector2 pedals for example
And over the limit on several types of road wheels – but as I said in my initial post if you bothered to read it rather than taking professionally offended viewpoint – under the limit on most wheels.

Bit of googling dug up a useful table (although a few years old):

There’s a few resources for viewing all the workouts in the zwift plans, but can’t find anywhere that provides the files.
Might have to create them manually as custom workouts in TP?

What, exactly, do you mean by this?

Lots of little things (along with getting fitter) have added up to make the whole experience rather more enjoyable as he’s got lighter.

Hills, are now hard rather than torture.
Gradual slopes are no longer major obstacles
Easier to slow down for corners on downhills
Less weight on the saddle = less soreness
Heavier (on same size tyres) = more puncture prone

Basically it makes a whole lot of things harder and less enjoyable than for someone of a more average size.

He does however like his epic straight line speed down hills. It’s been known for him to freewheel past me – whilst i’m pedalling!

    What utter shite.

Clearly why the OP is over the weight limit for some components………

I didn’t say it was impossible, i’ve spent the better part of a year doing my training rides with a guy that started at 100kg in preparation for him doing NC500. His opinion is also that its very heavy for riding bikes!

15st is (very) heavy for biking, but still under the weight limit on most wheels.
A quick browse over shimanos wheel manual didn’t show any weight limit:

And if you do get a wheel driven model, whatever brand, think about getting a spare wheel (budget model is fine!) with a cheap tyre on it.

Don’t just think about it, treat it more or less as an essential. Very useful in spring/autumn when bike can be on/off the trainer for indoor/outdoor rides every other day.

@TiRed, big heavy bloke on a touring bike. Thinking 22/32 bottom gear is more the target than 30/32

Got to agree with @highlandman, stage taking in glenshee, the lecht and cairngorm is a bit of a no brainer for what is supposedly a tour of Britain. Would be a proper climbers stage.

And would be easy enough to run a stage for a sprint somewhere down the west coast the following day.

I have the same problem as OP. Even tried swiping right up at the top, but this invariably results in me bringing up the list of turns remaining.
Still, better than an 820 which my friend has that changes screen by itself if it rains or you sweat on it.

    Maybe a Mason Bokeh
    or
    Maybe a Mason Definition
    or
    Maybe a Canyon Aeroad

Good news is, i’ve reached 1 in, 1 out stage, and i’m far too lazy to sell one, so should stave off temptation until something falls apart

    Almost, but not quite.
Had one of these new road jerseys with the drop tail to protect from spray on – tried to stand to power up a hill, but tail was caught under saddle – major wobble and dumped back into saddle

Has he actually managed to get any legislation through? It seems like the checks and balances of America’s political and legal systems has worked pretty well.

For a lot of the people that voted for Trump, that only emphasises how broken they feel the system is. They’ve elected an oompa loompa on a set of policies, and the ‘system’ is standing in the way of him implementing them.
His approval ratings may be falling, as normal/rational people question why on earth they voted for him (probably to avoid the she-devil in many cases), but a good chunk of his support are going to get even further behind him as they see their wishes being blocked/ignored.

Think this is where gravel bikes are preferable to CX bikes. Sticking a 700×40 or 650×50 in there would make quite a difference.

Probably a gravel bike would be better for most of my riding, but with a 10kg (Alu with nice bits hung off it) 29er in the stable already i can’t see it happening any time soon.

@ninfan, pretty much everyone that does sportives/mtb marathons etc is going to be operating at a level of intensity where it makes a difference. In fact its much harder for a less able athlete to keep intensity down to levels where you can get away with digesting something with a higher % of fat/protein.

It might not win them any races, score points etc, but maybe gets them a PB somewhere, or stave off the misery of a bonk etc.

SiS bar has quite a poor split to compare against.
Do the same comparison with something like a zipvit zv8 and it’s hard to find ‘normal’ food that will digest as easily whilst working hard.

I’d encourage people to check nutritional info on commercial bars before purchasing, as many are not really fit for purpose unless riding at a very low intensity.

To answer the OP, yes, you can certainly make your own, but unless you are training 20hrs a week, you’ll either be forever cooking batches of 4 bars, or won’t be able to eat a bigger batch before it goes bad.

    A little bump.
Getting my packing done this morning ready to travel up to Inverness tomorrow. I either need a bigger suitcase or less cycling kit!

Weather is looking a bit mixed, but an unexpected tailwind forecast for day1 which i’ll gladly take.

Will try to do a bit of a write up and post a few photo’s when i’m back.
