if you take Hampton Ridge to Fritham, which is a nice ride, you can then take the gravel track/fireroad from Fritham to Holly Hatch and onto Broomy Lodge. Then pick up the road to Ornamental Drive.

Or you could head from Holly Hatch to the High Corner Inn. All the gravel tracks around High Corner inn and redshoot inn are fine to ride all year round.

Before you get to Ornamental Drive ie at the Canadian Memorial there are two nice gravel track routes from there if you prefer off road. One heads to Burley. The other to the portugese fireplace near the reptile centre. Which brings you out near Bank.

Nice pub at Bank. From Bank you can pick up more fireroads to Brockenhurst.

From Burley you can head SE and then pick up the cycle track and railway to Brockenhurst.

I assume Tom_W1987 also still thinks the world is flat. :D

Just because something cant be proven by current levels of research/understanding doesnt mean its not real for those who have it.

But then again its clearly just easier to deny its real and suggest that we all need to see pyschologists than have an open mind.

As per any diet that’s essentially a fad, I wouldn’t, as you’re reducing the variety of stuff you eat and therefore really need to see a dietitian.

Well I’ve been gluten free for over 6 years and if anything my diet is more varied and healthy than it was before.

I try and avoid the processed GF food. As its expensive and not particularly healthy. We just eat freshly prepared stuff.

    Hi R987,

Cheers i’ll look into that. Ive always used PF before, but thought there would be bettercheaper options.

Keep meaning to come along on a Thur night but work/family life keeps getting in the way. Was hoping to make the recent NF ride, but had to work late.

Hope all is well. Catch up with you soon.

Why do you need that unit?

Surely you can just make do with a small camping stove and some plastic storage boxes.

No Simon, they were talking about a New Foreft ride next week!

I might have to come out of retirement for that…

Thanks Scottoutes. I”ll take a look.

EGF thanks, but combining it with a trip down the Spey, so Cairngorms is closest option.

There and back would be fine.

No idea on distance. Maybe 2 to 3 hrs max each way.

Going in the height of summer, so plenty of daylight hours.

More interested in the scenery than the trail. Although prefer single/double track to fireroad.

Have stayed here before in Bourg St Maurice

    https://www.camping-indigo.com/en/indigo-bourg-saint-maurice

Used to be called La Versoyen.

Looks like its been taken over by a bigger company. So be worth checking out other reviews in case its changed character.

But a friend stayed there last year and was happy with it.

    Nice relaxed family friendly campsite.

5 min ride by the river to the funicular railway that takes you up to Les Arcs.

Swimming pool, tennis courts etc close by for the family.

Two supermarkets across the road, so no need to drive if you’ve parked up your motorhome for the week.

Pleasant walk into town through a forest by the river.

You can also head up to La Rosiere for riding.

I’m doing the same for my 10 year old.

I “splashed out” on some SID world cups off ebay. Stupidly light.

Still expensive but they should last him several bikes.

So i reckon they were worth it for the weight saving.

Plus being air, they can be easily adjusted as he grows.

Originally bought some XC32s but are really heavy for a kid.

    Sad news.

Lets hope he castrates himself on that weirdly placed shock on the pronghorn.

    And the Ti frame cracks.

Got my print last week. I think the guy sending them out was on holiday, so there’s a bit of a backlog.

Ive switched to OS Maps from memory map.

About £18 for the year. But it gives you access to the whole of the UK 1:25 & 1:50 plus a load more scales.

You can download maps onto your phone etc for use offline.

Plus you can also use on your PC for creating routes etc.

There was a thread on here a while back.

Have camped at Bryn Betws many times.

Its handy for the bike park and WallW2 etc.

You can just pitch up on spec.

Very very basic toilet/shower facilities. But friendly owner and staff.

You can sit in the hostel in the evening and watch tv in front of the woodburner. :-)

Feels safer than camping at Glyncorwg. Although i would happily camp there also.

It’s worth calling Middleburn direct. They have always been really helpful in the past.

I have had similar issues, but generally only with older cranks where the taper has worn over time. Or with some of the older chainsets where the chainline was designed to be narrower. With the new cranks, the spider/lockring are designed to sit further out.

Sadly, going to have to miss out again.

Was all set to come last week. Even had some cake packed. But my wife was stuck in a traffic jam, so had to cover the childcare (and eat all the cake! )

    Hopefully next week.

I saw a group of 3 sows each with about 3 or 4 piglets on the Verderers on Friday.

They quickly moved out of the way.

Stumbled across them on another trail later on, but this time one of the sows stood her ground. So I turned around and went the other way.

Managed to get some photos, but no idea how to post them on here.

I’ve got a barn door T5 with removeable Westfalia towbar and a Strada DL.

No issues to date. Had it over a year.

    I am 6’2″ and 33in inside leg and have a 19in IO.

I find it a touch on the small side (in terms of seat tube length) compared to my 19in P7.

So much so that it is now resigned to the turbo trainer.

So yes I think it will be too small for you.

That’s one of the reasons I got the Atera over the Thule, as the Thule only tilts/pivots back, whereas the Atera slides backwards.

It doesn’t feel as robust/strong as the Thule, but I’ve had mine a year and still as good as new. It is much lighter than the Thule.

When you are not using it, it folds up flat and can be stored in the back of the van.

ps I think you can only get them from roofbox company, but have used them many times and found their customer service very good.

I also have a T5 with barn doors and recently swapped from a Fiamma door mounted rack to the Atera Strada DL, as I now need to carry 3 bikes.

Not cheap. But a great rack and slides out the way to allow the doors to fully open for easy access to kit in the back.

    Would recommend.
