Our 4 year old springer is fed on Eden – after reading a few reviews and seeing the nasty stuff some more well known dog foods put in their mix.
It passes the “easy clean up” test and she’s a healthy happy pooch.

Quite expensive per bag but it lasts ages so cheap in the long run.

Used to hear good things about RetroData[/url] back when I used to do more IT stuff. Possibly more consumer friendly prices that some of the bigger guys.

Buy domain name and forward your mail to gmail – then you’ll be free to move it around between email providers without having to change your address.
You’d be stuck with the cost of a domain name, but as co.uk address is about 7 quid a year it’s pretty cheap!

Network cable all over.. doesn’t have to be used for network. Media converters will allow you to run HDMI, speakers or whatever over CAT6.
Network to central ceiling point for decent wifi access point in the centre of the house powered by POE switch.

What floor construction? Solid or timber suspended?

From experience in a commercial facilities setting, 5 deg is more accurate. They are not good as the primary heating source if outdoor temps start to head towards zero.

I did an awareness course for 40 in a 30.. as others have indicated you won’t know until they either offer it or not.

I have heard that 20 limits are legally unenforceable – and no I can’t say why, just something my Dad learned from local police (he’s Parish Council and the village he lives in have recently had a 20 zone installed)

As an alternative to a repair.. are these stairs of particular aesthetic significance? If not, would a stair nosing over the top – in stainless steel or similar not cover the damage and be a lot less prone to damage in the future?

I have a 4kW system on the roof, was professionally installed rather than DIY. Works well, also heats our water during the summer with a link to our immersion so saves a bit of gas too.

Congratulations! As others have hinted.. there will be tough days and nights ahead, but it gets easier. (first 3 months are tough!)
Once they start laughing and giggling with you though, it’s the best feeling.

I’ve had one for about a year now. It’s very good. Easy to control by the thermostat or pretty much any mobile device. The auto-away thing works by sensing people in its vicinity so you need to position it somewhere active in the house to work best. You either hard wire it to a wall, or use the USB cable and adaptor to power it together with a stand to put it on a surface.

I installed mine myself but it was replacing a (rubbish) wireless thermostat already so a very simple job.

If the neighbour had attached to your wall, the act of this may itself have made it a party wall. I haven’t done party wall matters for ages and I’d need to check my docs. However by doing so if it’s judged to have enclosed the wall and made this party there would usually be financial compensation (to you) for them doing so.

You’re going to need party wall notices served in any eventuality… and at least you’ve lucked out with an agreed surveyor – I’d be asking them for advice on this.

Roof bars would probably be between 75 and 200 quid a pair depending on how fancy you want them to look.
Bike carriers to fit them start at under 50 quid for Thule ones which are decent quality. Depends how you want to attach the bike.
So very easy to beat £350

I’ve bought various stuff from http://www.roofbox.co.uk – there may be cheaper sources but they have a good range.

Man made slates can contain fibres other than chrysotile, depending on their age.
Lab test is the only way to be sure.

They are however generally a low risk ACM as the fibres are well bonded into the matrix.

I hope you have more luck with onedrive than me then.. We have onedrive for business at work and it’s the biggest heap of steaming carp I’ve ever had the misfortune to use. Frequent (daily) crashes of explorer, massive sync problems with no clue as to which file it’s choked on.. I’ve had to move all files off and back on it twice in the last 2 weeks to get it working again.
Frequent file lock issues trying to open something it’s updating..

I really wish we could use dropbox!

I’d guess it’s the same boot and the only difference is the label.. Since 2004 or so Karrimor is just a brand of Sports Direct stuck onto anything and everything.
The RRP will be a complete work of fiction and not a guide for quality of product.

It’s a shame.. Karrimor used to make great stuff.

They’ll supply whatever current the tool draws up to the output limit of the transformer (which will overheat and cut out).
Plugs (the yellow 16A ones) are a few quid from screwfix or any decent electrical wholesalers.

Our “building site” standard is 110v for which step down transformers are used, so it may be possible to buy one of those (and change the plugs on your tools) to allow them to be used. The frequency is also different through.. think the US is 60Hz and we’re 50. Not sure if that would have any significant effect on power tools – maybe cause them to run slightly slower dependant on motor type.

Don’t think there will be a fuse in the dimmer, but it’s perfectly possible that it’s failed. Basic ones for dimming halogens aren’t expensive, just need one of the right rating (add up the wattages of the bulbs you’ll be dimming)

You’d probably need a lintel to support the brickwork above the door position but that’s not a huge job, just need enough brickwork at the sides to support it. The area of brick that it’s actually supporting is v small, so you wouldn’t need an RSJ.
I assume the chimney is unused and capped at roof level? The remaining void really should be ventilated to avoid the risk of damp through condensation.

BIM will be used more and more in the coming years as the gov is forcing its adoption on public funded projects. So, yes, if you get yourself set up on bim is will no doubt increase the chance of an architect specifying your stuff.

Tyvek is commonly used for roofing membranes as an alternative to the old bituminous felt. Although it’d usually be layed over the rafters and secured by the battens, it’s not a bad product to use for your purpose. It will maintain the ventilation of the roof void while keeping the dust out.
If you plan to insulate between the rafters (at roof line, not ceiling line) then you need to maintain a min of 50mm clear air gap to the back of the tiles / slates.

40 in a 30 is still within the speed awareness course level, so I would suspect that it’d be 3 points + fine at worst….

I’ve just stuck new batteries into my Casio FX-7000 – It’s still be mutts nuts after all these years.
Not sure I can remember how to program it or draw graphs, but it’s still be best for basic adding up by being able to back track and correct errors.

I have one, ride is firm – something I think is common to all the current model Octavias.. but I wouldn’t say harsh. Certainly more forgiving than anything Audi in S line guise..
It’s plenty fast enough for me and good fun when you get a bit of empty road to yourself.
Practical, loads of space in the back (I’m 6″ 5 and could comfortably sit behind myself if that makes sense) and pretty good on long journeys.
As for the image.. I like it and I’m old enough not to give a flying “^!*( what others think about what I drive!

Park and ride car park? The St Catherine’s one is really close to the center and close to J10 on the M3. Can pay over the phone which may deal with the multiple days issue.

We use Virgin for phone and broadband – works ok. Think we’re on a 30MBit package but new installs may be faster by default. I don’t bother with additional channels; just freeview on the TV and a Netflix subscription.

There may be cheaper ways to do it, but Virgin seems reliable for me (others will be along in a minute to tell me they’re rubbish) – at least with one supplier for the line and BB there is one point of fault – no blame passing to BT from broadband company.

My 3 year old Springer has eaten..

Lamp cable (thankfully on the dead side of the floor switch)
    Laptop charger
    Horse poo
    Random dog poo
3 sausages from the beach bbq of a random couple trying to have a romantic afternoon
    Dead deer

    Think I’ve got off lightly.

I use a dog walker for my springer 2-3 days a week. We pay £10 a day and she’s walked with other similar dogs for at least an hour (off lead) She’ll be out of the house for around 2 hours with pick up / drop off time.
Our dog walker also offers overnight stays (our dog in his home with his friendly dogs) at a similar good rate.

My priority really is reliability and comfort that she has a great walk and loves going out with him.

    Hope that helps
