With the ‘all new’ mega out this year you can be sure there will be plenty of them being sold. Another one will come along.

The interview seemed charged from the start to be honest. I don’t know what went before the clip but there is a tone all the way through where QT seems like he is on the defensive and the question about violence and real life just tipped him over.

KGM often has a condescending manner about him anyway, and certainly did in that interview I thought. Maybe QT picked up on that.

In my teens I saw blur over a dozen times. I was an obsessive fan. I could never be that fanatical about any band now thank goodness.

Exactly right, which is why I don’t want to name and shame. I perceived it initially as being a race issue but on reflection he could have been indicating anything at all. But still didn’t excuse his behaviour towards them.

Well, I wasn’t trying to be heroic or the great saviour of Japanese tourists in the Stratford Upon Avon region, I was just annoyed and had to say something. He was just thoroughly unpleasant and I just couldn’t let him get away with it. I’m sure I made zero impact on his day though.

Cheers xiphon. I was looking at redline bikes. They are bloody expensive, but very pretty. I think I may just take a punt on this Haro. It’s their mid range race bike which will be fine for me I think. I guess changing bars and stem will open the cockpit out a bit if I find it a bit cramped.

This could be the best or worst buying decision I have ever made. Time will tell.

Ok, so I stopped off at my local BMX track today. Was surprised to see just how much effort has been put into. Looks great and I’m just itching to go ride it. So now I’m considering a race orientated bike to do BMX tracks on. I doubt I’ll start racing but would be great to enjoy that flowy feeling you get when you’ve nailed a lap and hit all the downslopes.

I’ve found a very cheap 2011 haro team issue race bike. New unused old stock. Has a 21″ TT. 300 quid less than original retail price. Sound the right sort of thing for a bit of track action for a 6 footer?

Don’t thinking I’m doing this one. Done all the others. What track are they using?

Hora, why don’t you tell Evans how disappointed you are in them rather than everybody else at least two times a day?

When I was a teenager I suffered with quite bad acne and was put on a low dose antibiotic. Due to a doctor who was clearly clueless I stayed on these tablets for 8 months (max initial time for taking them was 2). I would have continued to take them if it were not for the fact I ended up in hospital with suspected appendicitis. It turned out the antibiotics had stripped away all the good bacteria from my stomach leaving me in agony. Thankfully, within days of stopping taking them and taking probiotics I was fine.

They advised me to take the probiotics so can’t hurt to try I guess?

Not a hobby (yet) but I’d like to learn to play the banjo. Can’t find anyone in my locale who could teach me though.

Me too. It’s on my list for this year. Something about the energy and joy that seems to come from playing the banjo really appeals. Zero musical talent might make it tricky though.

I’ve recently invested in a decent set of dumbbells and bench and have found that more enjoyable than I expected. It’s a good workout, you definitely start feeling better about yourself and I’m hoping it will aid my riding having more upper body strength and stronger core muscles.

I think mark is right that on pricing it is nobodies business but the seller and potential buyers. But I do think members should be able to point out when something is clearly not as it should be in an ad. As above, someone describing a XC frame as a downhill frame or someone stating that certain cranks are compatible with certain bottom brackets when they are not etc.

I just tend to chase the best price/postage combo. More often than not CRC receive my orders.

and Mark’s posts have in no way helped me understand

Really? They haven’t helped you understand his logic behind the decision at all? He’s broken it down quite well to give an indication as to how he came to that decision and why he believes it is fair.

I’ve been with my wife for 10 years now. Married 2 years ago. When we first started dating we were at it like rabbits but that was as much down to us both being at Uni and sharing a house. Not long after marriage it seemed to tail off to a couple of times a week. Now she’s pregnant we seem to have gone back to our student days again. Clearly this isn’t gong to last so I shall make hay while the sun shines.

I remember paying a grand for our 42″ Samsung just 5 years ago. To see something better for 200 quid now, makes my head hurt.

+1 on The Town. I watched it after seeing Argo and curiosity as to whether Ben Affleck’s brilliant directing was just a one off. It wasn’t, The Town is fantastic. Really gripping with a fantastic story that didn’t pan out as I’d predicted.

Have you got a park locally? or are you thinking about track racing?

I’m not going to do track racing mainly because Downhill fills the racing void. Really I just want to enjoy learning to jump more efficiently, maybe even (dare I say it) throw some style in there with it too. And eventually progress to do some more urban based stuff. I drive past all these stair cases and walls etc and I just wish I had both a bike and skill set to enable me to enjoy trying to do something with them.

Also, I daily watch a BMX vid on the web and feel inspired to try it. It’s a real art and I know I’d regret it if I never gave it a go.

For a street/park BMX at 6’2″ you need one with a long top tube

Would that be 21″ then or are there bigger TT lengths?

Nowt wrong with skinny fit jeans though

Can’t disagree with that. Not sure whether combining them with a BMX will do me any favours though.

It’s good for a giggle but I’ve discovered some fantastic websites through this place and no matter what your query someone here will have the answer or at least point you in the right direction. It’s a great place for that.

On the down side I do find the sensitivity of some on here tiring. So many just looking for an argument, but regardless I’d happily go for a bike ride with anyone on here. Good folk all in all.

Personally I found rocket jr’s 20.75″ tt Subrosa impossible to pedal my legs simply don’t come up that high when my upper body is leaning forward that much (6’2″)

If you can imagine standing on a roller blade with handlebars, that’s how it felt.

That’s my main concern really. Don’t know whether to opt for a rigid DJ mountain bike instead?

Tis nice that Binners. Do you find the 24″ good for doing more urban based stuff? I’m thinking of some of the fun looking stairs, walls etc that are nearby as well as my local BMX track.

Final sequence of back to the future 1. Marty waiting in the delorean that won’t start, doc trying to reach the cable at the top of the clock tower. The music by Alan Silvestri just punches that 5 minute sequence. Brilliant.

As lazybike said, the right one is out there. Either that or I’m very lucky. My wife shares my enthusiasm for all things outdoor- biking, motocross, snowboarding, kayaking etc. she wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m going to start watching the killing on LoveFilm. I’ve only heard good things about it but I’m genuinely intrigued as to what it is about this wave of Dutch television shows that have got British audiences so excited. Admittedly I watch a lot of Swedish and Danish cinema and think it’s wonderful, but I’m aware that part of the appeal is due to it being simply so different in its directorial style to the usual American/British movies. Is that the case with the killing and Borgen?

when Armando Iannucci took the Alan Partridge series Mid Morning Matters to the BBC they said “could we take it outside? It’s too contained in that radio studio”

Hmmm, they might have been right about that though?

The point being that the BBC failed to grasp the concept of the show or believe it would be enjoyed by a large audience. They missed the point and misjudged it if Sky Atlantic’s viewing figures for the show are to be believed. I’m trying not to dwell on the fact that in my opinion Mid Morning Matters is a beautifully observed, written and crafted piece of television with still one of the greatest characters ever to be created and Mrs Browns Boys is 1970s camp nonsense whereby expletives have been mistaken for comedic gems.

I appreciate that Mrs Browns Boys suniversally popular and that in itself is justification enough for its existence but the BBC seem to becoming fearful of commissioning anything challenging, satirical or different in terms of its conventions.

On a similar note, when Armando Iannucci took the Alan Partridge series Mid Morning Matters to the BBC they said “could we take it outside? It’s too contained in that radio studio”. Hence it went to YouTube then Sky Atlantic.

How dare these people sell you goods at a sale price with 20quid knocked off and free postage and then have the ******* audacity to keep some of you waiting for 4 days.

This is the 21st century, people expect things cheap, discounted with free postage, gift wrapped and delivered by the fair hand of a brunette waif in lingerie, who won’t shine the lazer in your eyes, within 24 hours. This is what we expect and we definitely do not deserve it.

have to say im more inclined to thumb a few pages of LAs book now

I agree. Certainly puts a different slant on all his books and makes for far more interesting reading. I’ve been re-reading a couple that I’ve got.
