Fantastic in Capote. What a shame.

I’ve just been watching it on YouTube. Someone usually uploads it first thing Sunday morning after the event on Saturday night.

It’s been an amazing season so far. Ken Roczen in his rookie season has been particularly brilliant. Good to see Reed doing the business for the old guys (31 😯 ).

I’m also undecided about who I want to win this year so i’ll be happy with a close game.

As a bonus I went out for a 75 Mile ride on the road bike this morning so i can well and truly enjoy the excessive amount of sugar and salt filled snacks I’ve just bought from Tescos.

My initial thoughts are the same as yours, to either withdraw the higher offer or just hold and let it play out.

Is it actually illegal for estate agents to fake offers to coerce buyers into increasing their offer or is it just a code of practice that some Agents adhere to?

I’ll be honest, i saw the first picture as i opened the thread and thought that was it and struggled to think of something complimentary i could say (not the STW way of course). But the actual finished thing looks great. Love the coffin idea. My nephews birthday is coming up and he’s into ghost and monster films and cartoons. You’ve inspired me.

I watched it on lovefilm last year after endlessly scrolling through their online catalogue trying to find something remotely appealing (I’ve now cancelled my LF subscription). I was shocked how good it turned out to be, not what i was expecting. A genuine little gem of a film.

I do love a good old sneering thread.

Yeah, I watched it last night as well. Great documentary. Well worth a watch.

We we’re lucky with our first house. And it really was luck because judgement never came into it. We bought our first house in 2008, just as the bubble burst so we got our current house cheap. We don’t really like it here though so put it up for sale at christmas. It sold quickly and we made a very surprising 55k on it. We never thought we’d make more than a few grand on it so now we are trying to find something based more on location than anything and everything we look at is being snapped up.

    Stressful.

Thats what i was thinking binners. South east, east mids here.

December we were feeling confident that we could find something we’d be really really happy with. Less so now.

Im just about to swap from lovefilm to netflix. The postal catalogue is fine but there is very little on the streaming service worth watching, not even any little lesser known gems, which i actively look for.

I can’t offer any advice but I will say congratulations. Just another 30 years and I’ll be in the same position as you!

The playstation network is actually undergoing maintenance at the moment. Depending on what the maintenance is it normally isn’t offline for more than 12 hours.

You’ll almost certainly be able to use as normal tomorrow.

It’s just make up. Nothing particular clever other than the editing.

I’m afraid I’m not very computer game savvy so forgive me for asking the obvious question – what exactly makes that cartridge so rare and valuable? I couldn’t quite grasp the significance of it from the description.

I can’t workout how he’s made the cuts between the varying stages of make up? Impressive editing none the less.

As a kid I adored WWF. Hulk Hogan, Shaun Michaels, Brutus the Barber Beefcake. I stopped watching it when I was about 12 but then rediscovered it in the late 90’s when my folks got Sky TV. It was just at the start of the attitude era and I loved it. Austin, degeneration X etc. It was still utterly stupid but great fun none the less.

It’s gone back to being family friendly again now, which is how it should be, with more clean cut performers and stories. But still some very talented athletes involved and from what I’ve seen the ‘acting’ has vastly improved now.

One thing though…is don’t forget to live your life as well, rather than becoming totally pre-occupied with paying the mortgage off asap. Put some away for a decent holiday, take the Mrs away for a special weekend very occasionally. You only get one life so try and get the balance right.

    Sound advice.

Thanks all for the very good balanced advice (as always). It does seem that the consensus is to go for the SVR for the short term and make some substantial payments on the mortgage with the difference (and enjoy a bit of it as well) which is more or less what I was thinking.

I am in a similar position, and planning to review he situation when interest rates actually do go up. I may miss out on a percent or 2 when I fix, but I’m planning to ride the low rates for the moment.

You could always stay on the lower rate for a while and put the difference towards paying off more of your mortgage. If it’s a few hundred quid, you’d make a nice dent in the mortgage before interest rates go up.

Exactly this. That was my logic anyway. Being financially naive I just wasn’t sure how, historically speaking, rapidly interest rates have climbed.

My thoughts were to stick with the SVR for a year, maybe 2 safe in the knowledge that the SVR won’t climb to anything like 7% in that time. Save the extra or as suggested pay off bigger chunks of the mortgage.

Anyone remember Filthy Rich and Catflap? They did one series, a sort of precursor to Bottom. I don’t think it did particularly well at the time but it’s actually quite funny.

Worth watching if you haven’t seen it before.

    Bungalow? Check
    No chimney? Check
Sitting room at back of the house? Check

We have a Firebelly stove (made in Britain – Yorkshire admittedly). Total installed cost was c£3k. Twinwall has two 45 degree bends in it to get the exit point nearer the apex of the roof to avoid having too much chimney swinging around in the wind outside.

Am on phone now – go to my flickr page (link in profile) and you’ll see a couple of photos.

Perfect. Cheers. I’ll take a look.

Didn’t I hear that they were doing another series?

They were yes but Ade pulled out at the last minute. It was going to be a series when they were very old in a retirement home.

The first one is. The rest are poor. I remember seeing the first one at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton. I was 12, my dad thought it would be fine.

Attach it a ring and wear it on the inside of your hand, so it would be on the inside of a fist. Then, when someone tries to mug you for your tasteful and stylish shoes, simply slap them across the face with the words “Take that you ruffian”. The sandpaper will render his complexion easily identifiable to the rozzers.

I’m not in the shoe industry but this seems the most likely reason.

They previously stated that the 7% barrier wasn’t an automatic trigger point for interest rates to rise.

Indeed, plus I don’t think the BoE are in any real rush to increase rates.

Is the implication that the BoE will increase interest rates the moment we hit the 7% unemployment rate?

As above, Rennard’s hardly the big story here – Hancock’s a vile creature.

Indeed. Which makes the Lib Dems position even more questionable. Why hide the loathsome Hancock away? Oust all of these valueless Neanderthals.

Mercedes Sounds like an electric Sander
    Renault like a leaf blower
Honda like a 4 stroke mopod
Ferrari sounds more like a car

I think all but the Ferrari were computer generated simulations of the engine note.

    Interesting, thanks thepurist.

They certainly seem to have a higher pitch, which is to be expected given the reduction in cylinders. I don’t think it’s going to be hugely different on track though, certainly not to the casual fan.

    Check Settings->General->Keyboard->Auto-Capitalisation

(and if you haven’t already then this is also where you go to add the Emoji “smiley” keyboard)

my fat fingers often miss the caps button or the full stop button
It will generally do caps for you at the obvious places (e.g. start of sentences).

Full stops: just press space twice.

But apostrophes can be a pain.

I didn’t know that about the double tap on space. Oh yeah, it works!

For some reason my iPad often doesn’t put a capital at the start of a sentence. It seems to pick and choose as it likes?

    fervouredimage

I’m not the best at spelling and my grammar is far from perfect but using an iPad, iPhone has made it much much worse. Auto correct is a pain but my fat fingers often miss the caps button or the full stop button or apostrophe button. I also assume that the auto correct will automatically put apostrophes in correctly etc but by the time I’ve finished typing a sentence I see what’s been missed or incorrectly added and then have to navigate my fat finger into the correct spot to correct the error. So what would take 30 seconds to type now takes 5 minutes.

    Basically I’m blaming technology.
