Funnily enough I did but thats not what caught my eye it was the title on the main page. It just struck me that it is so easy to post something up before giving someone a chance to put a mistake right.

Not everyone one will even bother to read the thread but may just see the post title on the front page and make the assumption that said company is shi’te. Does the title say unfail?

Thats what got up my nose when I personally know the service this small business gives and its owner very well.

Personally I wont have a bad word said aginst Zaynan and Practical Cycles. I have had two Surly frames from them ( A Big Dummy and a Pug)and Zaynan even built up my Alfined Large Marges even though they weren’t doing wheel builds at the time.

This is a small family business and things can go wrong but he will go to the end of the earth to put things right. Its far to easy to fire off half cocked on the t’interweb before giving someone a proper chance to put a genuine error right when one gets annoyed 😕

Not done it on a 48mm rim but they come up about 3″ on a 65mm wide Large Marge.

No chance, I had a medium Swift and at 5’8″ it was just right. I think a large is pushing it a little to much

I cannot understand why anyone wouldnt like the film, its a classic 60’s British crime caper, with arguably the best car chase scenes going. For me it is the Italian Job, then The Bourne Identity(another mini) and then Bullit.

Equipe Remy Julienne the most amazing things with those little cars! Saying that they also do the same things in any other car they drive come to think about it.

The remake stunk to high Heaven!

Stu whats the cost of the ali loop bar when you factor in the shipping etc?

I see Mr Jones sells the at $120 for the ali version but there is the additional on costs to consider

I have been mostly wearing some Jack Wolfskin hunter boots similar to these, mine have a removable thinsulate inner boot and a retractable crampon in the heel. They are huge but chuffin’ warm and completley snow proof.

Also worn my Raichle All Degree GTX but they have a very stiff last so not ideal for general wear. They are however super warm and water proof.

Heres is my dummy, I love it to pieces, they are the best thing sliced bread if you have kids, mine gets used off road as well as on the tarmac, obviously within reason though.

The accessories are expensive and to be honest if you know a decent fabricator you could easily have the freeloaders etc made.

I also pull a trailer with mine ocassionaly.

I got mine from Practical Cycles near Blackpool, they also carry Yuba, Bakfiets etc. Zaynan is a really good guy anf very helpfull.

If I went for a Pug are there any UK available offset drilled rims other than the LMs. Just wondering whether its possible to go upto say 50mm wide, which should run Surly endos etc but obviously with less float. Kris Holm do them wide enough but I dont think they have the offset required for the pug. Maybe A Mukluk frameset would be a better idea?

I ran over and Adder in Grizdale thinking it was a stick, went back for a look as something just didnt seem right, the wiggly fella wasnt best pleased. Suffice to say I didnt get to close.

Also took a hornet to the eye whilst riding in Kranska Gora, the little blighter got behind my glasses, luckily for me it didnt sting me before I managed to extracate him.

    Did you buy seasoned logs?
I wouldnt want to burn anything thats not been seasoned for 12 months other than Ash. You have got to think a year ahead if wanting to get through the winter just buying from anywhere, otherwise buy from a supplier that guarantees dried/seasoned supply.

If fuel is an issue you will be able to run that on veg oil which is cheaper to buy but returns less mpg. Its the same engine as in my Delica and baring a chuffed up turbo (which could have happened to any turbod motor) its been pretty reliable for the last 5 years.

Yes its slow to get up to speed but once there they run very nicely. The ride on my Delica is fine so I cannot imagine how the Pajero could be worse. They do lean in the corners but they are tall so you just drive accordingly. The Pajero should come with more toys that a UK spec Shogun as the Japanese love optional extras.

Mine was a Godsend last winter, I work rurally but live in town and it didnt miss a beat getting through the snow to work.

Insurancewise it wont be a killer, I pay around £350 a year fully comp in Blackpool parked on the street, which isnt bad as my Mrs pays about the same for a Scienic.

Parts are a piece of cake as a lot of bits for that will be standard shogun and any additional stuff you can get through places like Milners 4×4.

Space wise internally the SWB is crap in comparison to the LWB and doubly crap compared to mine which seats 7 properly with bags or 4 with full family camping kit.

I would recomend going on POCUK for the low down if you dont know what to look for when viewing.

Prana and Moon for me and Mrs Ferrit when she used to climb (nippers have put a stop to that!). Prana do some nice looking stuff if somewhat hippyish, same goes for Patagucci

Baggy shorts with extra large gussets and slim fitting vest tops are the usuall for the ladies climbing indoors. Dont be tempted to buy shoes unless she is with you as its easy to waste hard earned money on shoes that look good but fit badly.

On the Camel Toe issue its probably more related to dangling a harness than the cut of their strides 😉

Decide early on if you are wanting to play fingerstyle or plectrum ( not even considering slap at this stage). If its fingerstyle you are going to need to build up those calluses on your fingertips, which can be a pretty painfull process and is only achieved by playing until your fingers hurt then playing a bit more.

It really depends on the style of music you want to play, fingers for soul, blues, funk etc pick for rock, although this isnt exclusive and playing styles can be adapted for different music styles.

Other than that play as much as possible, scales are good but boring and I always felt happier when playing along with songs.

How about a Mitsubishi Delica – 7 or 8 seater, both configs fold down for bed space. Could probably run a rear quarter kitchen set up if you wanted but I just rig up a drive away awning, put everything in that and kip in the van.

Bit thirsty on the motion lotion due to a 2.8 derv engine but they are 4wd

The dizzy hasnt been a problem since the early 90s due to injection engines. If its for commuting type driving the buy an SPi or MPi.

Rust on the other hand always is a problem 😕

Heres my last of line Cooper Sport, bought from new. Might be available for the right money as it doesnt get used due to now having loads of kids

I can definatley see where they are coming from with this. It purely down to their liability in the event of an accident when occuring whilst riding on works business

Yeah I did “Ride the Lights” with the Mrs and kids before the lights were officially turned on. Riding down the Prom without any traffic is the best thing since sliced bread, the weather was perfect and there was a massive turn out.

Oh yeah also had a chippy tea at the Cottage, ace!

I still like the Woodsmans cottage best of all the builds on Grand Designs, I’ve never seen a building blend with the surrounding environment so well. The extension he built for his Mrs and kids didn’t work as well though.

Hope for me, I acknowledge that CK have a reputation for fit and forget but that said I have yet to have any major problems with Hope headsets.

The fact they are also a lot cheaper pushes the right button with me and I also like that they are made just down the road. By purchasing a home made product I feelI am doing my bit to keep someone from the UK (and in particular Lancashire) in work. If Hope make an item I will look to them before anyone else, the only exception being seatposts as these are relatively new on the market and I dont need a replacement just yet.

Used to use a trailer for carrying my two little uns but it was a bit of a ball ache and the eldest started to outgrow it. So I ended up buying a Surly Big Dummy.

Its a real beast, takes a bit of getting used too but is tons better than the trailer solution for me. There are other long bikes out there (Yuba Mondo, Kona UTE) or you can fit and extrcycle to an existing frame

ha brilliant, but you could alway have a couple of inches trimmed from your lower legs. Glad you happy with it, it was crying out to be built up and ridden.
