    Thanks for your replies here.

    @andy4d
    : that sounds absolutely awful – I’m very sorry to hear about this. As you say, it’s very hard to persuade someone in a manic phase to seek help. We have had several multiple-month committals unfortunately.

    I’m encouraged by RustyNissanPrairie – this is what I had hoped is possible, though our location means that private medical treatment centres are sparse in our part of the country. Ideally, would prefer not to have a lengthy journey to regular appts. Will see what is available.

    @irc
    : You are describing exactly what we’re dealing with. It’s all about stability and monitoring but yes, the ‘stopping medication cos I feel fine now’ is always present. It’s a difficult balance to let them talk to the clinicians themselves without micromanaging as a family and pointing out when things are just lies!

    @Poopscoop
    : Thank you.

    @midlifecrashes
    : Thanks – not our area but good to know there are alternatives. Will investigate.

    Again, thank you all.

    Ben Ledi is good for a quick(ish) blast. Descent is not ‘natural’ but top is techy and multi-line and techy rock pitches further down. Great views. I normally ride up Stank Glen (path north of Stank burn) then hike up to the Bealach and onto the top. Saw a brocken spectre last time. Noice.

    Edit: doesn’t take long so could do this and Dumyat or Ben Cleuch in a day no bother.

    As above – Mark is a legend.

    Has sorted my X2 previously and also supplied a new battery – connectors and cables now better than they were out the factory. And a pleasure to deal with.

    Another vote for Exposure Sirius here. Running for years with no issues. Also in Edinburgh so has been used in properly pish Scottish weather!

    I had this dilemma and had bad experiences with Pikes previously. Went for Lyriks that were 160mm lowered with a 140mm air shaft in them. Absolutely superb forks, running on a Stif Morf hardtail. Recommended.

    (edit) These were Lyrik Ultimate RC2 DebonAirs.

    These have been excellent for me – regularly cycle to work and wear in the office. Have lasted 4 years so far. Will be buying another pair when they eventually die.

    That’s good to know though – I’d imagine on a normal-legged person, the 2018 ones would be comically long so maybe they shortened them. Will avoid in future. I actually bought 3 pairs cos they fitted so well!

    Funny your Nukeproof ones are too short – I found the opposite with mine.

    I got these and they were way longer than anything else I’ve found – I can now ride past schools without risking arrest: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/nukeproof-blackline-shorts-np-ss18/rp-prod166815

    I’m 6’2″ but all leg – normally struggle to find ‘acceptable’ shorts.

    Sounds like SKS is the way to go here, good good.

    jimdubleyou – yes, frame has fittings – should be ok with those – ta.

    chapaking – see the pic of the bike in the original post – the front mudguard stay has been bent down and under the brake to fit – I’ve had one set in the past that really didn’t like being bent like this and sheared off when I tried. Perhaps user error, but still annoying.

    Successfully running Maxxis 2.4″ and 2.5″ tyres on 40mm rims that previously had 2.8″/3.0″ tyres on. No issues to report.

    100% this thread! I was beginning to think I was on my own here. And yes, I feel this has got a lot worse since Covid.

    In the last year, I’ve stopped looking at the news for a number of weeks at a time as I feel I was unable to cope with it and my life was better for it. However, it’s extremely difficult (and probably not a good idea) to avoid it completely.

    I’m totally with you on political policies that a few years ago would have been suicide to even propose, but now are seemingly waved through as they realise that 1. they can and 2. People have given up trying to stop them because they can’t.

    It’s so demoralising. Literally!

    That’s a really useful link – duly bookmarked!

    Yeah, sounds similar to yourself except the rebound – also discovered mine worked loads better with the LSC about 2-3 o’clock. Currently in 140mm config on a Stif Morf. Great so far apart from the rebound seemingly getting slower over time! Def time to look into this.

    This has got the Stif Morf written all over it. I absolutely love mine.

    But looks like they’re sold out/discontinued? Rubbish!

    Superb! Enjoy it!

    Seeing my wife out with the group again was amazing. Such a mental health benefit too.

    The only negative about the whole thing was me getting beasted up the hills with her chatting away to me calmly as I struggled to breathe… :)

    Not too much E-specific really – decent brakes are always a good idea and I’d consider swapping these even if it wasn’t an E-bike, just down to personal preference – I prefer to have my cockpits the same on all bikes.

    A tough rear tire is a good idea (DH casing maybe or run an insert) but not too much else.

    FYI, my wife has been through the mill with ME too. Got an e-bike, hasn’t looked back. This is her in the article here:

    Feel free to PM me with any questions if that helps. Good luck!

    Thanks for the information chaps – leaning towards a new crankset at the moment. Had considered the road cranks option but was trying to avoid that if possible! Cheers all!

    mark@mtbbatteries.co.uk has sorted me out on numerous occasions. Replaced my whole cable assembly and a new switch for about £30 posted when mine were out of warranty. Also had in-warranty work done to a high standard.

    Thanks Cougar – that setting is already off.

    Yeah, android version is noteable. Oneplus admit that this ‘feature’ was implemented in Oreo onwards to comply with O2. Nougat, for example, was fine. And yes, I tried to downgrade to this and it bricked my phone! Had to get Oneplus remote support to recover it…

    Oneplus are now saying they are looking into it once again and are very sorry. I must say their customer support has been very good, albeit the issue persists. O2 have been less than helpful.

    Latest reply:

    Thank you for getting back. Hayden here.

    About your inquiry, at the moment we do not have any concrete information of what SES really means and what it is for. All we know is that this is basically one system that is causing this issue to happen.

    Which we are really trying to sort out with our software engineers. Based on our own research SES stands for: Société Européenne des Satellites.

    With regards to its purpose, right now we really don’t have that information if this has something to do with emergency alerts feature, for our issue is your phone’s mobile data turns on automatically to receive notifications from applications.

    At this point we are still working on finding the solution to have this corrected. Please allow us to make this right and have this corrected and sorted out.

    We ask for your patience for this case, rest assured once we find the answer to what’s causing this and the steps on how fix it, we will certainly relay the information to you.

    Again, thank you for time and patience and for continually patronizing OnePlus.

    Best regards,
    Hayden

    Flaperon – thanks – will give this a try.

    Thanks for the replies folks.

    Giallograle – the problem is that when I turn my data off, I want it off! When this issue turns the data on and off again, I get a ton of notifications and it uses up my data. Also, I need to have data off at work (security) but still need to make calls – this is currently breaching this policy.

    aphex_2k – that’s interesting – good to know – thanks. Will look into it.

    drlex – have tried this – only happen on O2 or any O2-piggyback carriers. Also does not happen with an O2 sim in another phone. Odd.

    PrinceJohn – data is being used in that it turns on the data connections and anything with permissions gets notifications, updates etc. I’d rather not go through everything on the phone and disable data permissions for everything, though I could do.

    Indeed – been scouring those forums as well – seems to be OnePlus – specific. Weird.

    Very difficult as both companies deny it’s their issue. Hmm.

    Hope customer service is legendary though – I’d be surprised if they didn’t resolve the issue for nowt. Doesn’t solve the overall issue though…

    Superficial – I think I maybe can – I can actually shove the plate forward and use the unused holes, but the issue is the remains of the bolts fouling the new cleat.

    DrP – haha – glad it’s not just me! Dremel is a good shout – will locate on and give it a go.

    Thanks all!
