I just watched the u23 women race over lunch having managed to avoid the result. That was a crazy good race.

Pretty impressive that Nathan Smith got third in the junior mens on borrowed bike!

I thought the course was pretty good – they can’t do anything abotu the weather, the world cup last year was very muddy. Seemed to have lots of variation in effort and requirments to sprint out of corners etc. Not sure offcamber woudl ahve been a challenge in that weather either. I did wonder about no barriers but that step of stairs was huge and barriers seem larely inconsequential in a men elite race thses days as they jump them (until you get a crash like TA last weekend of course)

There are two CAA registrations required:
a flyer-id, which everyone who flies a drone should have
an operator id, which is for the company that owns the drone and which should be labelled on the drone somewhere.

Re. flying in a field to practise, when I did my quals that was allowed as it wasnt commercial work. However things have changed (We are still operating under grandfathered approvals). I’d be surprised if it wasnt, but should be easy to check. make sure you are insured though! You may need a flight assistant to act as an observer

There was a US report that was highlighted yesterday that stated that the UK is not expected to assist against Russia due to the Russian influence on the conservative party and the substantial amount of russian mony in London, to the extent it is called ‘Londongrad’

I’ll see if I can find the twitter link,
    edit.

Also in the times today, but need to register so I’ve not read it:

@martinhutch – it’s just a shame it isn’t live on prime time TV!

    @tthew
    – good point, I’ll probably email my MP about that as well

I guess it depends how heavily that gets reported, if the public aren’t generally aware then it might not make a difference. I’d hope that Labour pick up on this and ask for the release of the report. If I was in a conservative constituency I’d email my MP saying they should ask for it to be released

edit. if framed properly I think the decision to withhold the report could be just as embarrasing for the tories as the parties themselves

Guardian reporting that the Met police are quite happy for the Gray report to be published this week, its a govt. decision to delay it.

He’ll just blame Carrie for the birthday party as it was a surpirse so he couldnt have been expected to know what was going on… question is will he ask her to resign!?!

I was told natural wool socks are best for chillbalins – no idea why though.

I was also recommended Balmosa cream, though that didnt help that much

I struggled today because after 4 goes I was sure knew what the answer was, but thought it was spelt with a different first letter – which stumped me as wordle said my spelling wasnt a word. Got it eventually after mulling it over thankfully

Unless the Grey report means he absolutely has to go, I’m not convinced a vote of no confidence would pass, which as others have said, would probably be more damaging than him going.

If he does go, Labour need to push on these other allegations as not BoJo but ingrained in Tory culture.

Two years may be a long time in politics but the next year will not be kind to whoever is in charge.

Random thought for next leader f BoJo goes: Kwarteng seems to be being quite critical of govt for a minister – very outside chance of going for it?

One thing I found useful was to write a list of what I need to do the next morning so I’m not constantly think ‘can’t forget about this…’

A bit of fresh air and a stroll is definitely good. Especially if you are still working at home

I have found mindfulness good in the past but it’s more for a long term reduction in stress rather than a switch off.

While people have suggested booze – I found even having a non-alcohol beer has the right connotations in my head to help me switch off.

    He’s going to survive

This week at least. Gray report likely middle of next week I think to build up the public anger again. If he survives that then he’s good till after may elections I guess

I just saw that! I recall this happening before and there being clamouring for a byelection, but I believe that isn’t actually necessary?

    He will turn up

On reflection, I agree. I think if he doesnt turn up the media reporting will be much much worse than if he just fumbles through.

Particularly good is the perhaps unintentional switch of red to dead in the operation name.

Variosu twitter muttering that the required number of letters is nearly there, and that some are waiting for PMQs – will he duck it and have a “positive lft” or other excuse?

So she will be able to say Reynolds was warned by email and in person. If Reynolds tells her that he checked with Johnson she can also say that. But she cannot make recommendations or draw inferences from the facts – thats my understanding. It could come to Reynolds say he checked with Johnson, Johnson denies this.

Maybe I’m being optimistic, but I think if that gets put in the report, Johnsons position will be untenable, even if he denies it. At some point its going to be one lie too many

thanks @tjagain – based on that I found the article by Peston in the Spectator.

I’ve a feeling with all this going around, the Gray report may not be as toothless as expected.

It now appear that the warning to Reynolds was done via email so there is a record

Is there a link to that? I didnt see it in a quick scan of news updates just now

I’m also in the anxiety sufferer box. It’s just the thought of incubating it a few days later, being ill for a week/10days and then trying to clear out a house etc. To be honest I think jsut writing it has made my mind up, I won’t enjoy sitting next to a stranger whos happily singing away – its not like the seats feel spacious at the best of times!

Changing the subject marginally, what are people here feeling about attending large events? Wife wants us to go to watch a 6 nations game in the millenium stadium two weeks before we move house. Personally, it seems like a risk and especially given the timing is not one worth taking, but would be interested in other opinions.

As P-Jay says, I do wonder if there is more ‘scandal’ being held back ready to drop when Johnson is out of his self-imposed isolation.

    FIngers crossed!

As someone just above said, kids are idiots – that’s why they need a degree of supervision. Where that supervision ends is fairly obvious. If a teacher spotted a child lifting a drain cover, would the teacher allow it?

    @IdleJon
    – I might be mis-remembering but didn’t one of you kids fall down into a drain at a CX race a few years ago!

I also like the ‘TrainNow’ button, I’d been using that quite a bit the last couple of months.
Had been planning on starting low volume base next week but IT band seems to be playing up so will have to see how quickly I get that under control

Looks pretty suspect to me! Seems like BoJo is very much hinting he’ll do what Brownlow wants re. great exhibition plans; then Brownlow says we can do what we want as there is no formal oversight set up yet!

Just to stretch every day for a minimum of 15 minutes my flexibility is atrocious and the root cause of so many small injuries that stop me exercising so I figure if I can do that then I’ll end up exercising more too.

When I’ve been actively training, I’ve always just done an easy half hour jog on the days I should be doing a recovery ride. I found it a good mental break rather than just being on the bike all the time. However I guess that won’t ever really improve your running.

Housing market in Swansea’s western and southern suburbs is crazy at the moment, many going well well over asking price.

    Great place though!

So your saying for the authentic IPA we should ask for half a pint of a new world ale in a pint glass and fill up with tap?

If doxycyclone, can still get sunburnt on a rainy day in February. I think sun reaction gets worse with repeated doses. I had it as a malaria prophylaxis for a few months years ago and then it didn’t affect me but I’ve had a couple of week / two week courses since then which has played havoc with skin sensitivity

@chakaping – not in my local, all over 4%, and they’ve replaced the ‘guest ale,’ that only changes very rarely, from 4 up to 4.9 (admittedly to the very tasty Ringwood 49er so not all bad)

I just wish we could go back to having plenty of sub 4% ales on tap to help lightweights like me! Seems like even non- new world style ales are getting unnecessarily alcoholic

Vale of Glamorgan? 2hrs to Swindon and good coastal walks on the stretch of coast between ogmore and llantwit. Imagine you might find somewhere nice to stay rurally in that area or in Cowbridge which is the main town (inland, 10 mins drive from sea). Some nice pubs in the area for a drink/meal too

Has there been much research yet on whether vaccines are preventing long covid? I remember at the start of the vaccination campaign, there were questions on whether it would help because people with mild symptoms were still getting long covid
