Yep, as a rough guide, then I took out another link IIRC so’s the cage was sitting at a nice 45 deg angle whilst on biggest sprocket and the tension was perfect.

Never dropped the chain with that set-up and gets my vote everytime. Your’s and others mileage may vary but a DH chain device will look gopping on a 29er HT imo :D

Nope, the bash will keep it from falling off outboard and the jump stop will stop it dropping inboard. If you are still dropping the chain during xc riding with that set-up you’ve got chain tension issues.

Jump-stop and a bash, job done…Or a Paul’s chainkeeper if you prefer the aesthetics.

Errr Merlin do 29er forks, I bought a set of Reba’s at Xmas time.

Check their site, they currently have reba’s and sid’s…Not sure on specs for maxle etc, not sure why you need all that tbh, but have a look, might be something that suits…

Going to stick my neck out here and say I can ‘kinda’ relate to what flow is getting at. As an ex-regular football attendee the minority of *normal everyday folk* that peel their normal faces off and become dogs come match time is a slur to the game and crying shame to society….very sad.Very important to remember that they are thankfully the minority but **** the game and lives of many others by their actions.

RIP to those who lost their lives and sympathies to their families,,,,

OP – I’ve got some Halfords roof bars sitting in my shed, they came off a 2005 Vectra, not sure if they are the same footpack etc as the Astra but check it out and if your interested you’re welcome to make me a silly offer…

Halfords roof mounted advanced carriers are Thule not Mont Blanc.

Other than knowing your way around your fretboard, little else applies. Bass playing is all about feel and groove, totally different concept. JB ftw, good choice, enjoy the journey!

Got a 2006 frame sitting in the shed and currently thinking about building it back up. As cfh says very neutral handling, light but very stiff. First upgrade – carbon seat post (takes sting out)

    You’ll love it….enjoy :D

    Easiest job on a bike.

If everyone wants to give me a quid for each one, I’ll do it.

…Please, someone take GG up on this, then maybe he’ll stop waving his policeman and we can all learn something

Yep, Superstar sfn tool, cheap as chips. 3xSFNs knocked in straight first time, everytime…Why try and bodge the ST on your £300+ forks?

    No brainer. 8)

A ‘buzz around a car park’ of a friends 29er was enough to leave me with an itch that needed scratching…I was having the same thoughts as the OP regards 29er Vs FS…Built my 29er over Xmas and instantly felt the benefits and joys of wagon wheels. I can see that it is definately a marmite thing, but for me its a winner :D

Just completed wk 2 day 1. Went in lower than my max press-up test and glad I did, 64 PU’s was tough…try using dumbells if you dont have any push-up bars, no extra outlay if you already have them and same effect. 8)

[/quote]I did think about yellow bar tape, it may be too much yellow though. Be a bugger to keep clean too.. (says the man with white tape on one of his road bikes!)

Go for it man, you’ve already thought about it…just don’t scratch a muddy leg itch then touch the bars again… you’ll be fine :-)

I’d go Deore rather than SLX.

XT from 2006/7 were good…..latest/last 9 spd xt are not very inspring but better than slx.

Unless you want 2 way release.

Is the shift indicator removable on slx like it is on xt ?

Similar issues with new inbred swap out 29er frame, bb gear cable routing and rear brake hose running down tube and chain stay is a right pita when mounting bike on roof bar/carrier system and trying to prevent the hose getting squeezed in carrier clamp. Bit of a design fail in an otherwise great package.

Be nice to know for sure what they will do with the Olympic course.

I hope the health and safety guys don’t take all the fun out of it!!

I caught an interview with the course designer on Beeb Essex last week saying the latest thinking is a push to get various parts graded for ability specific trails/sections of the course…Hopefully they’ll keep the rock garden section in etc and “little johny” and “appollo dad” wont break themselves

Leigh is around 6 miles from where I live. Yep there are trails you can get too, it wont be anything like you’re used to currently but there are 4 or 5 places within 10 miles of Leigh on Sea that are all ok but as said nothing like you have available at the mo.
Happy to show you a couple if and when you get here. :-)

You’ll just have to wait until your taste buds mature. I was in my 30’s before I could appreciate Guiness and black olives.

    I’m 40 this year!!! 8O

Silentsparky – Taken your advice on board, I’m in Essex and there are a couple local breweries and have family living in Suffolk (Adnams country) so will have a feel around :-)
