I own both op. Different tools for different jobs but as you mention mud and climbing for me the 29er would come out to play for both duties before the 26er even thought about leaving the shed…

OP- I’m type 1 (insulin dependent diabetic) and use jb’s when hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) hits me…jelly babies are THE quick fix/kick in hard n fast antidote when ur about to Bonk. Think of how you feel when you’re blood sugars feel low then multiply that feeling by 1000 for a diabetic and you can understand what I mean…jb’s ftw :D

I’m type 1 and only cramp in my quads if I stop for a while and get cold. I dont think the 2 are related tbh but we are all different, worth trying nuun tabs to see if it makes a difference tho.

    to my mind drive setup is as much a personal choice as pedals or bars;

needs to suit the individuals own fitness, riding style and chosen terrain…

nobody’s quite the same. clips/flats, wide/narrow, riser/flat, SS/1x(n)/2x(n)/3x(n) does any of it really matter?

    just ride your bike

This nails it…I have 1×9 on one bike and 3×9 on another and compact on the other. Different bikes for different riding, all good in their own right…Just ride, it’s all just bikes

I’d be mixing and matching anyway.

Xt crankset, bb and cassette, slx mechs and shifters on my 29er.

7 year old lx rear mech on my 26er set up 1×9 still works as efficiently as the day I got it.

Sent my mother a card and some cash in it as she always moans that flowers are a waste of money…rang the mother this morning to wish her hmd, got thanked for card/cash and was told she’d bought flowers and chocolates with it….message received and understood…glad I didn’t make the 120 mile round trip and elected to ride my bike in the sunshine instead

I pay my maintenance but still contribute to “out of school” activities….Swimming and Gymnastics in my case.

Guess it depends on the individual “abscentee” and your moral fibre.

Nice one! Love riding with my kids…Just be sure to cover your brake levers at all times when riding behind them, sudden unprecedented stops are standard issue when you are under 10.

    Thanks for the posts all.

Blanket response I’m affraid as busy morning…

Yep they are 2.2 nevegals, folding bead:

    http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TYKEN29/kenda_nevegal__dtc

Stans valves and juice. I was very hesitant about going tubeless and which tyres to try to get on having read some of the horror story threads on the interwebz but the tyres were no harder to get on then conti’s on my american classics, used tyre levers to pop the last bit on as per normal with tight fitting beads/rims.

One thing I would say is that without a compressor I wouldn’t even attempt it, how people do this with a track pump for blowing the trye on initially is quite some feat 8O Do what I did and recruit a mate that has done it a million times before if you’re uncertain.

The good news is they didnt explode overnight, no leaks that I can tell and still got air in them.

Riding today so lets hope it stays that way :D

Dude, different situation to you I know but I’m diabetic and used to take 4-6 injections per day and would have done for the rest of my life. 3 years ago I switched over to an insulin pump which I’m hooked up to 24/7… I’d rather not have it and sometimes it’s a pita but it makes my quality of life so much better. Guess what I’m saying is sometimes bionic devices seem daunting but you learn to live with them and see the upsides to their benefit…like I say different scenario but hope you can relate?…good luck.

    2lbs?
    What was on before?

I went for a ‘try out’ 29er build over Xmas and merlin were doing a silly wheel set deal at the time, c’dale rims, Deore hubs etc for £80 or so. 2400g without tape and skewers. Hoops weighed 1690, lost the tubes, lighter tyres ….win!
