I got the wireless security camera. £2.50 per month for cloud storage. Well designed with useful features (e.g.lights on/off, sensitivity settings, notification/video to your phone of activity). A doddle to set up and with the option solar panel. forget it – until you need it

We had this question when my mum died last year leaving me and my 3 siblings as executors. Some banks don’t do executor bank accounts, Others won’t set up an account with multiple executor access. In the end, because we trust each other, I just used a dormant account for all financial matters related to the disposal of the estate.

After an extensive search I found Wickes to offer the best value for money – they had a 2 for the price of 3 offer. Watch out for the thickness of the boards when you are looking. Wickes have a thicker board which make a lot of difference

I found Monomondo returns far more options and much lower prices than Skyscanner. The filter are much better as well (e.g. you can specify which airports you want to change or not change at)

I used Wickes metal paint on a steel garage door after removing the loose, peeled old paint. Shortly after it peeled again and looked as bad as before.

In the end I used Hammerite garage door paint together with the recommended Hammerite primer. Worked a treat

I did this with a guided group in June 2014 – Spectacular. I got quite a bit of information regarding the route and required kit. I’m happy to dig it out and send to you (email in profile).

Despite poor weather, it was one of the most memorable holidays I have had.

+1 for Brentacre. I have my 2 vehicles on separate policies with them. NCD is applied to one and a discount equal to the NCD has been applied to the other. Much cheaper than a multicar policy and without the pitfalls mentioned above. I have had to make 4 changes to the policy so far this year (modifications, address changes, extent of cover) and haven’t been charged a penny extra

I have worn 2216 shoes for many years now and are my preferred footwear as I find them very comfortable. Break in can take a few days until the fold over your instep develops. However the last pair rubbed at the heel for a few days as well.

Hi Yes I get an annual health screening every year as part of my employment package. The screening includes lung and heart functions as well as blood and urine tests.

A couple of years it picked up a cancer for which I had no physical symptoms. Tumor removed – no complications, but it was a close thing. The screening saved my life!. My advice – DO IT.

As to costs – I have no idea. The 2 companies I have used are Cigna healthcare and Optima health

I agree with comments about Cotswold Outdoors. Very good fitting service. The boots they recommended for my very wide feet still feel like the best slippers I ever had – after a great many miles of hiking

I’m trying to find a way to match colours for a ‘beloved car’ model build project of my own. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to match exactly, using the normal acrylic or enamel paints.

You are right about the use of car paint on plastic components, but most models are polystyrene rather than the ABS used in modern cars. There are primers used to key car components prior to the colour coat and I think experimentation with this process is the way forward

Truck and bus engines are very similar, developing very high torque at low engines speed (1000rpm) and having max speed of 2000rpm. Most commonly 6 cylinder and design life of 1 million km or more

Passenger car engines rev to much higher speeds and have greater refinement with features such as dual mass flywheels. Generally 4 cylinder and much less long lived

I did a Liverpool Leeds charity ride last weekend. Saw no mud, the grassy bits (15 miles round Silsden) were damp and so increased resistance. Bell is essential – there are 235 bridges on the route which you can’t see round.
Watch out for the side canals, we missed a junction and had to retrace when we came to a dead end. Foulridge tunnel is the only deviation and is well signposted

    X**2+y**2 = 9
    x+y = 2. i.e. x = 2-y

    therefore , by substitution
    (2-y)**2 + y**2 = 9
    4-4y+y**2 +y**2 = 9
    2y**2-4y+4=9
    2y**2-4y-5 = 0

    by quadratic formula

y=2.5 or -0.5 then derive x by substitution

I got a Makita DAB site radio from Screwfix last year for £99.

Sound quality is excellent. It does eat batteries, but with tool high capacity tool batteries readily available, not too much of a problem.

Depending on what cordless tools you already have, there are a number of manufacturers who also produce Site radios

It took me about 10 minutes to remove old and fit new – after watching a couple of utube videos. Trickyest bit was refitting the retaining spring on the drum side. Needed an extra pair of hands to hold one end in place whilst I went round and pushed the spring into place.

Again in China, a few weeks ago. Evening rush hour, taxi ride to Shanghai on very busy 6 lane motorway with heavy rail and darkness.

Sudden increase in number of horns being blown and violent weaving of cars a few hundred yards ahead. Lots of brake lights, lots more horns. A few minutes later we trickle past the cause of the problem. Empty car stopped in fast lane. As we crawl past the car, we see the driver, business suit, standing in front of his car piddling on the Armco and proudly exhibiting his tackle to all onlookers.

I’m told this is quite common!

The regen cycle cannot occur if the vehicle never enters a driving mode that support the regen cycle (e.g 10 minutes steady state at normal engine operating temps) – So you are right. The fix is to spend a few minutes on a dual carriageway – much cheaper than a trip to the garage where some unscrupulous person may convince you part with some of your hard earned

As an exhaust system designer of more than 20 years I want to point out that Molgrips has it right. A DPF does not allow particles through – no matter what the operating conditions are. The re-generation (increasing exhaust gas temperature to oxidise the soot into CO2) is triggered by the engine control module and is a result of the diferential pressure between DPF inlet and outlet reaching a set threshold level – The duty cycle of the vehicle is completely irrelevant.

In short if you don’t maintain a diesel correctly it pollutes just as badly as a poorly maintained petrol – Black smoke = poor maintenance

Went to a wedding reception at the Ramada a couple of weeks ago.
Very close to M61 and I was impressed by the food.

Also there must be at least one decent Hotel on the Rebok stadium complex on t'other side of the Motorway

I agree with you clarkpm4242. Hats off to Mr Sorrell and Co. Cragg quarry now has a trail that I want to keep going round and round until I get it perfect. Well worth the climb to get to it.

Fantastic day up on the moor today – no wind and lots of sun. Good to meet a fellow STWer. Good luck with the MTL
