Explain this to me. I don’t get it.
Aside from any side effects to health, hypothetically:
Sugar inhibits fat burning. See my quote above.

But regardless of that, presumably you’d still lose weight? Otherwise you’d be staying in equilibrium on a very low 1000 cal per day diet.
    Is that possible?

Plus there’s calories and calories, as we should all know by now

Explain this to me. I don’t get it.
Aside from any side effects to health, hypothetically:

If I ate say four snickers bars a day (1000 cals) for 3 months or the equivalent cals in potatoes/pulses/veg what would the difference be with regards to weight loss?

If the net result isn’t the same, what’s going on? Genuinely interested cos I’m sure I’m wrong but wanna know how.

Nico was moving right before Lewis got alongside. Lewis decided to keep going anyway.
Racing incident. Both drivers did the right thing. Both hoped the other would back out of their move.

I would want them both to be equally aggressive the next time. It’s racing.

As FeeFoo said though, most of it isn’t evolution, it’s just people getting it wrong. Either they’re lazy, stupid, or uneducated (cue all the dyslexic hand wringing

That really isn’t what I meant.

How is loose quicker and easier to use than lose?

It falls into the easier category because as mentioned above it seems as though it shud have the double o sound.

Happy with the others though, yes?

Whilst I agree that “their, there, they’re and your, you’re” do change the sentence meaning when used wrongly, I’ve never been unable to understand what was being said.

e.g. “I think there lovely apples”, “Your great at cycling”.

I just wonder whether it really matters or will matter in the future.

    Language evolution innit.

The quicker, easier and more inclusive language is, the better it is.

Prolly, cud of, wernt, innit, loose, dorta, sista, etc., are easier and quicker to use.

Economy of letters will win the day. Get used to it!

Oh, and this times a million, obvs:

Has anyone else noticed that everyone else is an idiot and I’m incredibly superior in every way?

Sorry – thought I’d skip straight to the subtext of this thread.

Bit too smart for it’s own good tbh.

    Too smug and self-indulgent

all a bit too self-knowing and Christmas Special for me

    Yup, all of these.

Trying to be too clever when it doesn’t need to. Shame. Loved the others.

    I luvs em!

Importantly, they need to be boiled until nicely soft. Not al dente.
The boiling releases the sugars and makes them yummy sweet balls of heavennnnnnnn.

Is the flu jab worth having if you’re not in the at risk group?
I’ve had flu once in my life.

Does it work so that you’ll be more resistant to getting it in (old age) years to come?

I think that whilst Blair acted badly and cocked up severely, he was not as guilty as people like to portray him now.

    Thatcher on the other hand….

    This.
All the “Blair is evil personified” crap above is simplistic nonsense.

Striving and searching for happiness in life will always be futile.
Whether this is fully integrated in a consumerist society or living apart from it all, you are always left with yourself.

Accept that unhappiness, discontent and emptiness will be forever present in your life in varying degrees.

I’ve never got the jumpers thing – especially since good old Cameron mentioned it a few years ago; it’s no replacement for CH. You still would have to endure cold air around your head, body and feet. Cold rooms etc.

I think wearing jumpers just generally is not about comfort. A warm house is a cosy house. Having lived in the sticks for several years with no CH – I’m enjoying it now.

    This +1

These threads are often more macho than the “I’m the greatest driver” threads!

I like comfort. Luckily I can afford the comfort. It’s something I’m happy to spend money on cos the whole family is happy in a comfortably warm house.

Am I right in thinking that cholesterol checks are generally taken when you reach a certain age. i.e. 50+ ?
As someone mentioned above, if you’re genetically predisposed to have a “high” cholesterol level, is it possible that you’ve had that level most of your adult life?

Is there enough evidence to say that a high cholesterol level is definitely a health risk?

I haven’t had mine measured and I’m sort of happy not knowing as I’d prefer to be able to compare my level at 20 to my level now I’m pushing 50.

Anyone with more than this laymans opinion?

And I won’t be reducing subs prices anytime soon.

I get this, I really do. I sympathise.
But I still reckon that subs across many websites will have to be very low in order to compete.

Mine has made browsing so much more pleasurable. It was becoming a real pain on certain sites.

Hope STW lower the subs cost. I know it’s not loads but I reckon it needs to be lower to attract and keep users.

I love raw pastry. As a kid I always waited in the kitchen when my mum made pies to eat the shaved off pastry before the pie went in the oven.

Still eat it every time the missus makes pies or quiches.

I’m at Spa this weekend. I can confirm the McLarens are not only slow, they also sound very sick.
The Mercs sound very sweet. It’s louder than I was expecting too.
