Cheers McMoonter! If I needed convincing, you’re the man to do it.
Can’t believe you’d ever run out of wood seeing pics of your log stores on other threads 😉

Out of interest, has anybody here changed from using an open fire to installing a woodburner in its place?
I want to know if there is a significant increase in heat output to the room.

Same here. When we moved house it took two months to sort both phone and broadband.
Biggest problem is any deviation from Indian call centre’s script and you may as well tell the cat your problem.

Biggest gripe for me is that it is a telecommunications company that has awful telecommunication customer service over the telephone!

    Aaaaargh!!

My 64gb one is half full after only 2 months use. Lots of video though.

It used to annoy me with all the footie chat at work that I couldn’t be part of.
Now I’m just genuinely jealous of not having any interest in such a well catered for spectator sport.

For footie fans it must be the same feeling I get at the start of an F1 race….but every week and some weekdays too!

    Lucky gits!

Gonna try again to get into it, but know I’ll have to go through the cringing “fast show” character phase.

Who’s generation are they talkin’ about exactly?

As mentioned by others, my school PE lessons were: if you’re good at football, you’re ok. If not, forget it, you’re a dweeb.

I was pretty good at some track and field events but only remember doing them maybe once a year.

It’s ironic that the one sport that was promoted is the one the UK is pretty crap at (at least at an international level).

Nope, saves so little time it’s pointless.
Why do it if the lights are working? Stoopid.

How big is your garden and how much strimming time do to need?

My back garden is 25 x 30m and the front is about half that size. As I said above, my Bosch battery strimmer is fine for strimming all the edges etc. on one charge.

If you’ve got more “wilderness” type stuff to contend with then go petrol.

Depends on size of garden and how long you’re going to use it in one go.
My Bosch cordless strimmer is great. Lasts about an hour of normal use.

Enough for my medium sized garden. I’ll never bother with a corded one again.

Moaners are missing the point. It’s not going to change Britain by having better sportsmen and women.
Change comes from people feeling a sense of pride and happiness.

When people are happy, however fleetingly, they rarely do wrong to their fellow man.
It is this that helps change things for the better on a national level.

Jeez, I’m turning into a right happy clappy hippy!

    Love the Olympics.
Love the fact London has them.
Money well spent to bring back some national pride, respect and hope for the future.

In my former life as one of London’s finest cycle couriers, I delivered stuff to Stephen Fry, David Essex, Maureen Lipman, Ian Hislop, Chris Tarrant and Alexei Sayle.

Boooom! Six name drops. Beat that!

It means that you enjoy eating shit food, shit food thats packaging is designed to appeal to children.

Hang on, I think you may have something there. That must be why it’s so unsuccessful as a food outlet.
Everyone! Stop eating McDonald’s, you’re not actually enjoying it!

I was really disappointed when BBC decided not to carry on with F1, but Sky have been excellent so far.
The channel devoted to it is great. I haven’t watched BBC coverage once this year, despite loving it last year.
Crofty and Brundle are just perfect together as commentators.

For me, it would be really crap just to watch the highlights every other race.

I don’t understand all the confusion with weight loss or gain
    No, you don’t!

Calories out is a massively complex equation. It’s not just the amount of exercise you do.

I see this on here a lot.
If I eat less food than usual and carry on my usual lifestyle, I lose weight.
If I eat more food than usual and carry on my usual lifestyle I gain weight.

Whether the calories out is a massively complex equation or not, the above still happens.

My postman is great. Leaves stuff in safe place, is friendly and took it upon himself to redeliver our mail when we moved house (in the same village).

He got a nice tip from me last year and will get the same again this year!

I cry at the drop of a hat these days.
Pride, sorrow, elation; they all get me going. I don’t go in for full-on blubbing – just a couple of manly tears rolling down my cheeks.

    Waaaah! Waaaaah!

I usually run my dustbin incinerator in the evening just as it’s getting dark. Lots of smoke but I’m presuming the neighbours will be indoors.

As I’m a better pedant, I know the actual lines were:

“No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die.”

I like biscuits, sweets, crisps and chocolate.
    I eat them regularly.
I’m heavier than I could be.
I’m happier than I should be. (according to most of the opinion on here)

I test drove the Megane RS last week. Fantastic.
Best bit was I felt confident in it from the start. Great driving position, feedback and positive steering.

    Sounds good too!

Saving the pennies to (hopefully) get one soon.

Might be worth people remembering this basic, obvious concept during the next round of “let’s all have a pop at the fatties, they can’t stop eating cake and pies,” hey?

Too true. Some (many) on this forum are guilty of all too easily swapping fat for lazy, stupid, lower-class, anti-social etc.

I’ve seen that time and again.

FWIW I’m not particularly overweight. I eat what I like and am probably 5 or 6 kg heavier than I could be. But happy enough with myself and my health not to worry about food.

Not really – why is it that people who profess to have no interest in diets/healthy eating keep cropping up in these threads to offer their ‘wisdom’?

I read lots of stuff on here. I do find it interesting that people are so weight/food obsessed.

Why the hostility? Bit unhappy are we?

I’m happier now (mid-40s) than I’ve ever been.

    10 pages!

Absurd self-obsession on here as usual.

Where are all these fatties? I just don’t see them.

What I see more and more is middle-aged knobs moaning about not being “beautiful” any more.

Eat what you want. Enjoy your life. It won’t last forever.
