I didnt used to but in the last year or so i have been. Its way better. No getting hit in the eye with something, then riding down the next section with your eyes closed. I dont bother with expensive glasses i dont see the point. Doesnt matter how expensive they are going to get scratched with all the mud and grit thrown about.
I used these and change them as they get sratched cause scratched lenses are not good for your eyes either.

Ask people for a go of thier bikes (nicely) its all down to how you feel on the bike, not how people tell you you’ll feel.

Saw someone out on a cube stereo650b looked pretty nice. Spoke to the guy riding it, he didn’t have a bad word to say about it.

Thought about making your own? I got the wood for this free as it was leftover from pergola my parents were putting up. To buy the amount of wood used from a builders merchant would have been no more than 15 quid.

+ one for vaults. I bought nuke proof flats cause they were £49 (30quid cheaper) they did feel good. Bent one on my second ride. Bought vaults they are way better.

Quite interested in a Toller myself as it goes, bbq – any more info about your ‘ownership experience’?

Without going into too many details dont want to hijack the thread. Ours is 8months old and he is a wee legend! No trouble at all. You wont regret a toller! They are hard to come by. We drove to Bristol to pick up Coby(we live in Aberdeen).

Tenacious tape cheap and lasts. Lasted well on the jackets i’ve used it on. Not 100% invisible but miles better than manky duck tape

+1 for few taps with a hammer from the other side. I used a bit of wood rather than a screw driver. Had to get more generous than i would have liked with the “taps”

Wasn’t so much the hoses or braking power that bothered me about the clarks it was the fittings they were quite chunky and cheaply made in comparison to the genuine avid fittings (just me being a tart maybe)

+ 1 for too high. Obviously depends on your fire place but a mate of mine has tv mounted above fire place. Looks good but i find if you watch it for any length of time you end up with a sore neck. Maybe i’m getting old.

Not sure if this helps but my girl friend is 5’2″ I built up a 13″ version of this
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=46812
Seat all the way down she has both feet on the ground comfortably.
Really its all down to personal feeling though. My girl friend still lacks confidence so the (very) small frame makes her feel more comfortable.
In short 14″ sounds about right for 5’4″ to me.

I just half wrote a massive jumbled incoherent rambling brain fart. realised it for what it was and deleted it.
    Heres the summary.

I think alot of the main points have been covered.

I’ve got a K2 panoramic with SparkR&D burner bindings. A mate of mine has a board made from the Kit. If you use the kit and make a good job of it the results are not far off a pre made split.

More faff than ski touring but if your already snowshoeing then faff obviously doesnt concern you.

Split specific bindings make a big difference.Karokoram, Spark R&D and Volie all make specific bindings. Look at some of the prototypes that are in the pipe line from Spark R&D “the edison” and the “magneto”

Trying to climb steep stuff in board boots(especially scottish conditions) is like trying to rock climb in welly boots (its not pretty)
Again some of the Split board/Mountaineering boots look interesting.
Deelux Spark(xavier de la rue’s model)
    Fitwell Split board boot

While skining my mate and I keep pace with my brother on a Dynafit touring set up.

Trying to traverse the slope in scottish conditions is hard. When you split a board into skis you have a pair of very short, flexible wide skis. Trying to get that to bite into the slope in crusty snow is hard.
Spark and Volie make crampons that help.

The sick and the wrong board shop stock alot of kit that untill recently was only available abroad.

I’m going to be moving mine underneath as soon as i get the parts to fix the remote.
I got mine and chucked it on the bike with little thought of position etc as i was really excited to try it out. Long story short I went over the bars and ripped the hose out of the remote snapped the termination piece so as soon as the replacement is here the remote is going under the bars.
