@13thfloormonk. How were 40mm tyres through glenfeshie? I’m away with work on nights just now. If weather allows In a few weeks time i was planning on trying:

Linn of Dee – Glenfeshie – Aviemore – Glenmore – Fords of Avon – Linn of Dee

On my cross bike with 40mm tyres am I just setting myself up for misery? My theory on the route was i realize there is a bunch of hike a bike even if you’re on a mountain bike so. Cross bike is quicker on landy tracks and roads and lighter to carry through the hike a bike.

Got one in the back of my estate. Quick and Easy to pull out, hose down, refit. We have two long haired dogs who like mud and are passionate about badger poo.

I should really have gotten something similar for the drivers seat. The driver is quite fond of biking in Scotland and is often too lazy to change at the end of a ride.

If he was driving a rented van and it was damaged on return. Its not quite the same as having damaged his own car. Ie it might be up to the rental van owner if they decide to make an insurance claim to repair any damage to the van?

Few years back I had to deal with one the size of a bean bag in our loft crawl space(story tellers license applies but it did span more than two rafters). Since then my policy has been get rid of any that I notice while they are still small and easy.

Wasp nest foaming spray works a treat. If its relatively small and easy to access a wee spray in the entry point might be enough so get them gone.

    Beinn a bhuird (Braemar)
Loch Muick over to Clova and back (Ballater)
    Lochnagar loop (Ballater)
Mastermind and Heart break ridge (Ballater)
Scolty was Relatively dry last few weeks (Banchory)

I was at Dunkeld last week and all the trails on the Mast side were pretty overgrown but everything else was great.

I’ve not been in a couple of years but brother was over Torridon last week and has not stopped going on about the trails think its time i went back.

Hijacking the thread a little but I think its relevant. Is top chief the new name for the Red at Fortwilliam? Been a couple of years since i did an uplift there. I wasnt a massive fan of the red just felt like excessive board walk. Thought the world cup track was a better trail in every way.

Watching with interest. Down for Adrenaline up lift on the 21st August and then just a day of riding trails on 22nd. Hopefully goes a little of the way towards making up for missing a trip to the Alps this summer.
Always have fun at Inners and golfie

    I’m running
2.5 WT EXO+ MaxTerra Assegai up front
2.5WT DD Maxterra high roller rear
Pertty happy with that for NE Scotland good compromise for rolling resistance and grip in the dubs. Highroller was bought at CRC a few weeks back to replace Rear torn EXO+ assegai.

My 5:10 kestral lace and Adidas terrex cross trails are just my normal shoe size. Both are a lot narrower than anything 5:10 used to produce which suits me fine.

I’ve got 5:10 kestral lace. Not an XC race stiffness but way better than the shimano AM things i had before. Use them on my CX bike and mtb.

I’ve got a pair of Adidas terex trail cross which are nae bad. Stealth rubber soles, not a lot of foam padding, Narrow fit though so not for everyone. I really like them

Thanks for the advice. I’ve started doing a bit more reading and ordered a black light. I am now offshore and my wife is at home dealing with it ha ha ha. She is less than impressed.

She didn’t even smile when I bought her a present before I left

This is what I expected to hear, looking at the photos online between the Evoc and the CRC/wiggle i couldn’t really see any difference. Certainly not for the difference in £$£££

Slightly different situation but i work offshore 3&3 and the first ride or two back i am always starving. I do watt bike sessions when offshore about an hour every other day but I think it just takes a couple of longer rides back onshore for the body to adjust back to prolonged exercise sessions. By the end of a trip home i dont really have to think about snacks etc on 2-3 hour rides but I know the first couple i will hit a wall where i need some sort of food.

    AM9
Ignore the blue arrow thats for something else but this is a ML with a side entry cage works. Works with a 550ml bottle(Just). Wouldn’t work with a piggy back shock though. The B-rad didn’t really help much on the ML frame, It did allow you to mount the cage further back but at the same time it added a little stack height which negated any benefit in aft movement

I’ve got a ML AM9 i bought the Bird 200mm without thinking. It sits about 30mm proud on the ML frame. Emailed Ben yesterday he confirmed that the Bird 170mm dropper will go flush into a ML frame so in a Large frame you should be fine with a 170mm.

I have an alternative reason for not liking people leaving banana skins lying in the hills. My dog loves them, His farts afterwards are F£$%$ING awful. Please don’t leave banana skins lying, it spoils the evenings of what are otherwise lovely days in the hills.

Yup. That is my experience too. Shimano sizing is a little smaller than most other manufacturers

I’ll sell you a house in Aboyne if you want. Lots of excellent mountain biking on the door step.

Tyre pressures? Suspension set up? Stem saddle position? Position on the bike/technique? These all have way more impact on hand/arm pain/vibration than bar stiffness.

I had a similar problem on a golf. After a bit of investigation it turned out to be a broken wire in the wiring harness between the tail gate and the body of the car. On the Golf its in a little rubber sock. Lights kicked on and off when moving the sock. Worth a bit of poking about before firing a load of cash at a garage

One of my dogs got a renewal through from Sainsbury pet insurance for £780 a year. I went on a comparison site found the same level of cover from another insurer for £120 a year. Same as car insurance/Sky/BT and every other house hold bill if you just accept the renewal they will continue to increase the premiums year on year. Shopping around at renewal time pays.

On of our dogs broke his K9’s (teeth) these cannot just be pulled out as in dogs they go right back into the jaw and removing them weakens the jaw I saw the bill (which the insurance company paid it was around 4k. That was enough to convince me its worth having some sort of insurance for them.

I’ve got a Suunto Ambit 3 vertical, GPS and Altimeter. I use it for running, biking, ski touring. Really rate it. There are some basic smart watch features too displays alerts/whos calling etc from your phone if you set it to.

I had similar plans last time I went to the alps. Bought some nice <span style=”background-color: #eeeeee; color: #444444;”>Reblochon the day before leaving the Alps. Then the Airline lost our luggage on the way home. A week and a half later when our bags turned up after sitting in various warm airport lockers. The bag was you might say RIPE.</span>

As mentioned above more to do with the shop and location. TNF still make good performance kit but the location of the shop you went to sells more to this

    Than they do to this

On a night out a few weeks ago googly eyes came up in conversation. I purchased a pack of 2000 googly eyes in assorted sizes on amazon. These have come in very handy in the office over the Christmas period.

    Mine are the same.
1)At a guess tap water has additives to help purify it chlorine fluoride etc . Dogs may be more sensitive towards it due to better sense of smell.

2)If a bowl of water has dead things floating in it, then its basically gravy

I use a Suunto Ambit 3 vertical. Links to bluetooth heart rate strap, Syncs with phone and automatically uploads to strava (if you want it to). Get text alerts/call alerts on your watch if the phone is in blue tooth range.
Suunto ambit 3 run can be had from about £100.

    worth a look.

Life proof FRE case here too for 2.5 years. It just stays on the phone.
Biking with phone in pocket in the wet. hot tubs. canyoning with it on inside pocket of life jacket on my stag do all no bother. All resulting in good pictures.
One thing i will say is the screen part of the FRE case is prone to getting scratched and does make the screen ever so slightly less responsive. They are pricey but they work well. I found mine for £45 but they were a lesser known name 2.5 years ago.
