I’m interested in the Mk4 but am unsure just how different it will be to my rigid Tarn running 29+ front 2.6 rear. Anyone have any idea? It would be used mainly at Llandegla.

I use my Bell full face when it’s very rocky, like Coed y brenin, then my poc open face one for when it’s more woody trails etc.

On a 1x put them where the chain line is best for your setup.

I think some of the new santa cruz colours are nice, pastels and the beige on the nomad.

Well in typical stw fashion I ignored everyone, including myself, and bought what I already had on another bike. Raceface atlas 50mm stem and atlas 820mm bars with a 30mm rise. Longest bars I will ever have had, my other set are 800, so see how I like the extra 20mm.

Thanks guys I really like my joystick bars and stem combo, which I have duplicated in carbon on another bike, I’ve got new rentals with an apex stem on another which I find quite stiff. I think maybe a burgtec stem, top cap and spacers with a Raceface carbon bar would be good but slightly above what I want to spend unless I can find them second hand. I really like that use vyce stem but the stack height is nearly 50mm which leaves me with next to no spacers on my chameleon. It has a low headtube so I need all the height I can get.

Shorelines used to import, I had lots of chromag stuff from him in the past but he seems to have stopped. I’m not sure now but maybe it’s a personal import only. The Doctahawk cones in around £1300 minus tax and shipping. So not a cheap option at all. I was going to email Chromag and see what is possible. And thanks BillOddie for the links 👍

I’d love a review of it but can’t find one yet. It takes a 160mm too so if its anything like the new crop of superlong bikes it might make a good trail bike.

I’m not the best at bike geo but the main numbers aren’t too different from Pole cycles Taival. Trouble is I haven’t wanted a frame so much for years and especially one I have no need for…… But I still want it. Anyone want a 2019 Chameleon?!

I’m trying to justify the price and the fact my skill level is nowhere near what a 180mm ht would demand.

I would like an eV or even a hybrid but my company doesn’t offer them in the scheme and seeing as I do approx 1500 miles a week the infrastructure isn’t there yet for me. So 2 litre diesel it is. For me it seems we have a long way to go until I can change.

And I’ve just bought the alloy one! Not fussed about weight as mine rides lovely and isn’t heavy. I’m glad to see the geo is the same more importantly. Now to see if my rear end cracks like so many others with the adjuster bolts. Lifetime warranty, thank god for that!

Interesting thread this. I used to be a subscriber for quite a while and I only used the forum. Lately I don’t feel the forum is as friendly a place as it used to be, say 3 or 4 years ago. I remember great, long funny threads, picolax?, now all I see are smart arsed nasty biting comments between people and lots of put downs. I think that is why the place isn’t as busy as it used to be, or at least doesn’t seem to be and will put a lot of people off staying and eventually paying for the extras.

Alfa ownership never changes, sound just like my 3 year old,at the time, 3.0 166 I owned and lost a fortune on.

In the old days alfas drove special which made the niggles worth putting up with. I’ve driven a few modern ones and they have lost that IMHO and are now much more like rebodied fiat’s.

I’ve got a few pairs of the production privee ones with the adjustable offset. Very long lasting and very comfy.

I’m off work till Tuesday, my bday is Saturday and I will be riding my newly built Chameleon at CYB. And I’m waiting in for my delivery of a wahoo bolt.

I’ve had to shim plenty of brakes calipers on various forks over the years. Usually it’s such a small amount that it doesn’t matter at all.

Thanks guys an elemnt bolt has been ordered for CYB at the wkd. I might as well have a bit of kit to show me how slow I already know I am 👍

I have got a garmin watch which has worked well and also a suunto now which does the same but a better screen. I’d like to have more info right in front of me, and to be honest I like gadgets! I think it will be between the bolt and the 520 plus, whichever one I can get online the cheapest.

That was one I had short listed as well as the garmin 130 or 520 plus.

I just has this with Mavic 30mm internal rims and Maxxis tyres. If I ever get an issue on the trail I’m leaving the bloody wheels there. No problems with my Hope 35 though.

Production privee gt goes to 2.8, maybe even 3.0 and is a beautiful frame.

Many have got away with non boost cranks, maybe just moving spacers around. For the wheel I’ve been using spacers on the axle and disc for a long time with no issues.

    I think that was a good move….

I’ve got both and like both. Horses for courses isn’t it? To say there is no reason for a ht nowadays is bs. My carbon honzo race is an excellent bike and at the other end of my uzzi 275 which makes most trails seem flat. Most of the time I’m out on a ht, be it 29+,29,27.5+ or normal 27.5. After trying lots of bikes over many years it seems a ht is my go to ride, the most pb’s I ever got were on a trek stache 29+.

I like browsing my old local Evans, but I’m wouldn’t use the workshop after the head mechanic was adamant you couldn’t get a 30mm bsa bb. Time to excuse yourself and walk away…..
