Yes mate definitely, it’s a mud fest in places but still rideable of you avoid those areas. I’m thinking I might give it to my other half to give back to me for an Xmas pressie as she has no idea what to get me . If that makes sense! So it could be a longish build. I’ve got cg bars and headset and 135×10 drop outs coming so that’s a week at the very least.

I always did but lately I really lusted after a new Trek Stache 7. I kept going in the trek store to oogle and such and eventually ended up with a test ride. I took it out as soon as I got home and never gelled with it and knew I never would . I loved the concept but to me it was a halfway house execution so back it went and disappointed was I !!! ( but £1800 better off ).

It’s going to be an expensive, for me,build as I had nothing I could use already. For once

I had a Sherpa around the same time as you and sold it and ended up with a 2souls slim jim. Although I loved the Stanton it wasn’t any where near as much fun to ride as the slimjim.

Thanks guys I’m glad the build seems straightforward. I’m not fussed about the bb as my 2souls already has the same and I’ve had no problems with it. I actually chose the Shan to be a trail bike as I know the Oka is designed a little better for that purpose but I really couldn’t resist the gulf colours. Time will tell if I’ve made the right decision. I’m going with new 150mm revelation forks , 1×10 with dt swiss wheels with mostly their own CG finishing kit.

You don’t sound too disimilar to me and my advice would be to buy a new bike cheap in end of year sales from Pauls etc. This gets you a new bike and saves you a lot of money which kind of counteracts the little bit of guilt that is telling you that you don’t need such a bike.

    Sorry to hear that mate.

I demoed one over a year ago and loved it. I went on to buy a oo rolling chassis and rode that for 8 months and now have a carbon beargrease as well which I’m happy with. I think the Farley is a good bike but my oo was more nimble and more of a bike for tighter trails IMHO.

Mine have come with avid speed dial 7 levers and jag wire outers. How do you tell if it is compressionless or not ?

I’ve just come back from an hour in the forest and feel so much better for it. The conditions weren’t as bad as I thought they would be either.

I had one ran at 120 but more often rigid.. Was an excellent fun agile bike. It’s got to be green. It’s lovely in the flesh.

I don’t know why the love for deore on here. I’ve had a few new sets and yes they work but the quality of the finish is so cheap they spoil a quality build. Slx aren’t much better to be honest but they are better.

That’s made me wonder about turning my salsa 11 speed as I’m using a 42 th expander and it shifts lovely.I thought 11 speed would just be a better range with the same quality of shifting.

I’ve been playing around on a 2souls slim jim and I’m very impressed with it . So much fun with the short wheelbase and the speed of the bigger wheels.

@ Johnny boy I just demoed a stache after waiting weeks for it and that’s my thought exactly. I have a oo fatty but just bought a salsa with the money for the stache. It doesn’t help that I’ve already got a short chainstayed 29er either but the stache was neither here nor there for me.

I’ve just upgraded my very well specced oo for a carbon beargrease so after a bit of fettling today I’m off for my maiden ride in the morning.

Does anyone know the weight of a trek Farley carbon yet? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

No that’s a 9. This is lower down the ranks but a lovely purple . I nearly bought it this wkd and when I went in the staff had decided to use it as a demo due to so much interest.

Deadkenny I agree with you. I’ve had a pair of new style codes for about two years now. No issues never bled and work fantastic . Way better than all the shimano stuff I’ve had.

At Woburn today it was awful and most of the trails were lethally slippy.

    Looks good ?

    fd3chris

Well it rides like I remember. Light, easy to position the front wheel on the trail and lift it over things. Conditions were very wet slippy with deep puddles in the ruts but I did enjoy it. Maybe I will keep it as a back up .

It’s an ocd thing ? I like it too much to leave it that awful stained grey . I’ve not even looked at that bike mate to be honest.

Good point Zippy the slim jim is off to paint in the next week or so. I bought the frame to see if I like short chainstayed 29ers and I do so when it’s all clean and painted I will put it back in the loft and maybe buy a stache or a beast of the east. Well that’s the plan. And before anyone says I have just reduced the forks from 150 to 120 ! Blame the dog for the gravel

I’ve never replaced it no . It should be fine if not abused.
