I miss my old proflex 995 which I bought after a long drive to Caversham. I think the shop was called Mountain High? It cost me a fortune back then and a week later I went back for the girvin forks. All because I saw it on the cover of a mountain bike mag and fell in love with it. I sold it around 2005 on ebay to an old guy who wanted a pootle around bike for £150 and he loved it. It was still pretty much immaculate

I know I would like one but at that price I’m seriously considering making a ghetto one and seeing how I get on with it.

And to be fair again it’s not just the crack that’s the problem here. It’s the disgusting stance of the Teflon backed company. Your on your own buying into that shower of……..

They are just a pedal. I used them years ago but I prefer other brands more now.

I remember the years they cracked regularly , 2008 to 2010 or 11 I think. Here we are in 2015 and they are still doing it.

What a pile of **** from a pile of **** company. I really hope you get somewhere with it as they sound an appalling company to give money to.

You really need to find out if any of the literature they give out with the frame states this. If not then you have a case I think.

I worked very closely with a gypsy lad of around 26 years old for 8 months of this year and he explained a few of their beliefs ( trains of thought ?) . The views he had on women and home life were very old fashioned to me, say something like you would expect your grandfather to say. He liked his partner to stay at home , not work for an employer but keep the house / trailer immaculate , feed him and basically totally look after him and in return he payed everything for her down to the last cent. This was his upbringing and he thoroughly believed in it. He was also one of the most honest and likeable guys I’ve ever met which was a huge contrast to my earlier dealings with gypsies when I was much younger.

I’ve just gone beargrease and it’s my go to ride for everything. It’s light and fast and nimble for a fatbike I love it.

I’m no help but I’m interested in the same cranks for my new build.

It’s very soft in Woburn too in the lower areas. I’m not finding I’m much slower just having to take real care when the trail suddenly turns to a swampy mush and you leave it too late to avoid.

If it’s just the location bothering you then cut the lock and leave it in next doors back garden. Bloody rude to chain a bike there by the sounds of it.

I think the op is looking for comments on what a bike frame costing £3-400 might be like compared to his current ride. Not much newer bikes costing £1000’s which damn well ought to be better.

I’ve done that. Running 2.25 tyres with a 4mm shock shim, takes 5 mins to fit and remove, I love it at CYB.

I agree the angles maybe unfashionable but it will still do more than my skills will ever allow and imho there’s very few bikes better looking.

I’ve got a 2013 sl with carbon shock and forks and with 650b wheels it’s the overall best bike I’ve ever ridden. Trouble is in my local forest it’s too much bike really so only gets used once a year or something when I go to Wales. Keeps it in good nick tho 🙂 size wise I’m normally on a medium at 5 foot ten ish but a large fits me fine as they come up a little small.

Well that’s me with the blue mips ordered.there is another 10% off as well so it only came to £85 ish.

I’ve had one for a year or so. Fits me well with my big head. That blue mips one looks good in that link above.

I’ve got it on 3 bikes. Best saddle for me I’ve found for all round specs . Looses out to the crank brothers one soley on comfort but wins on everything else.

Good question . Even though it maybe would of been better for my type of riding I still wanted the 917 shan.

Thanks Lester. The beargrease looks a little more purple now and rides lovely. Hows the bucksaw?
