And there is me thinking this place is full of p taking heartless barstewards. Seems we do like helping each other in way more important things than bikes too.

@ scotroutes yes a huge change as the amount of chocolate I used to eat was a lot and I’m taking in on average one banana and say three satsumas a day which has lowered my intake hugely ?

As above. Flooding with a garden that steep could be a problem.

I went through this a few months ago. I’ve had a huge sugar addiction, mainly through chocolate, for years. I decided enough is enough and stopped eating it . It seemed to take ages to get out of the sugar “slump” I felt I was in. No energy and a lack of interest in all my active hobbies. I’ve now come out the other side and yes I still snack on the odd bar but it’s so rare now as it all tastes false and chemically flavoured. I’m now eating more fruit and drinking loads of juices etc which have changed my taste buds for the better.

I’ve had a few chromag frames and all have been excellent. That would be my choice and you won’t see too many on the trails either.

Maybe it’s time for me to look around for some 650+ wheelsets and compare prices. Nothing seems cheap when your looking for both plus size and boost.

What setup are you running ? I’m wondering if it’s worth spending £500 on new wheels or just double that and get a half decent full bike and sell the Stache.

I’ve been looking at those compared to the Sony as100v and the newish tomtom. I’m stuck between those three so far.

Probably a lightish build 650+ would be the best compromise but I’m finding 29+ at around 31 inches to be too tall and unwieldy. I’ve gone tubeless with the stache and swapped bars and stem and slid the rear wheel in tight and it is better . But me and the purple monster just aren’t gelling.I would love to find that sweet spot as I really wanted to like the bike.

In my experience of having fat bikes for two years now and riding them on everything I could I absolutely love them. carbon everything and its light fast and nimble. I have recently bought a Trek Stache 7 with some nice upgrades and its an awkward , ponderous long bugger of a bike that my beargrease would leave in its dust. Plus bikes are not like fat bikes, they don’t ride like them in almost any way and are not substitutes for the best of fatties and the best of skinnies together but more like the worst of both and it was a waste of nearly two grand for me.

Dark suit dark glasses and hat and voila the blues brothers. They were kind of poppy.

I wonder what % of us are over 40? It’s a lot more than I thought going by this thread .

One thing this thread has shown me is how many of us at this age group are still avid bikers. 🙂

I have this on a camber evo . It fits 2.8 on the rear and I doubt 3.0 would fit. A lot of 29er forks take 3.0 as well especially dt swiss in my experience.

I’ve just gone with a 50mm stem and 800mm bars and slammed the rear wheel as far as it will go and it was a tad better. I’m going to cut the bars down gradually and see how it is as I’m not giving up quite yet.

I’m in the minority here. I bought a 7 and cannot make it work for me. It seems to be slower than my 29er hardtail and nowhere near as much fun as my full fat. Instead of best of both I’m finding it the worst of both.

I’ve had a few of the original models and loved them but I doubt I will be able to afford that beauty.

I’ve got a carbon beargrease and I kept it rigid for ages and loved the lightness of the bike . I think it was around 27lbs but I succumbed to blutos and I don’t remember how light it was now 😯

With my single ring set ups I’ve never used any other retention methods. Just the nw ring and a clutch mech. Not even sure you need a clutch one to be honest.

I stayed rigid for a year then tried blutos and would never ever go back now. IMHO it makes the bike so much faster and more fun.
