Fat bikes aren’t the best in mud. Unlike a slimmer tyre they don’t cut through the mud so well and end up sliding around on the surface. There might be a new aggressive tyre out there now but from my experience they work well on sand and drier trails but mud is a ball ache.

Def 4 and bigger. As said above any less is chubby. Which I’m now preferring.

It’s one place I’ve got to visit but it’s a hike from MK . It always sounds excellent.

I love watches and the grey matches that strap well but I’d go black I think.

If you fancy spending money on a new bike then the biggest change you will feel will be to go to a 29er. I still can’t make my mind up which I prefer between 650b and big wheels but I’m kind settling on 29er for fast days out keeping up with fitter mates and 27plus for shorter quick spins on my own.

A second hand fox doss . Might not be stealth but mine has been reliable for over two years. They are over built and seem to last forever.

I’ve got the sensor pro . Best fs I’ve ridden.

Not a clue on mine. It’s carbon but built very burly so not carbon light. Whole bike is under 29lbs and it’s not built with any weight savings in mind.

I’ve got a carbon sensor pro. Rides up extremely well and down as fast as I can go. Low bb means pedal strikes which I’m not used to so I’ve been playing with crank lengths. Currently at 165mm new xt’s.

So far I’ve seen black or blue or grey. Nothing fluro or anything like that.

I like Mike. He makes no excuses for what he is and I presume he is very good at selling cars. The whole program is good and it’s not about the profit at all. A lot of the time they make zero but it’s good to see an old 80’s 6 series or whatever saved for another day.

30lb? Where does all that weight come from? That’s one fat bike. How heavy are the cheaper models ?

I know your pain. I smashed mine to bits 30 years ago falling from a roof and it’s never gone away.

Go beemer. At least if you don’t like it in 6 to 12 months it will have kept it’s value better than the Astra.

Sorry mate I know how hard it is when they leave. Looks like you definitely gave him a great life !

I had two pairs of the original mt2 brakes a few years back. One set was on a new bike and never worked even after a good bleed by the bike shop and they were so poor they swapped them for another new pair which never worked either. Never again.

I do this on my stache. 29+ and 650b+. Both have cassettes and discs so takes seconds to change over and the bike is a very different ride. I really like it as another set of wheels is easier to store than a whole bike.

OP dont do it ! I bought a Stache 7 and it put me off my carbon beargrease it rode so well, in the end that is after lots of persistence.
I’m really up for the Shan as I already have a gulf 27.5 but I don’t like the part of ” 3.0 still to be validated ” .

Well we’ve had the wheel size debate and now we have the engine debate. Where do you stand??????

It always makes me wonder why anyone would ride one ( not a genuine ebike) when you can easily buy an mx bike and do offroad properly on real tracks.

I have gone dt simply down to the racket hope hubs make freewheeling. It drives me nuts.

It’s not an argument . It was a decent conversation.

I don’t think 3.0 is going to be pushed aside. Trek, Specialized, cannondale and norco to quickly name a few have already picked it as the size for their chubby bikes. Most 2.8 tyres I’ve seen aren’t much bigger than a big 2.5. I’m not saying these will be bad bikes, far from it, but 2.8 isn’t the current popular plus size at all. I guess time will tell .

That’s a shame as I have tried both 2.8 and 3.0 and much prefer 3.0, as I get the impression a lot of people do from reading online. 2.8 isn’t really plus to me. A bit misleading that if it’s true.

Am I reading this right? A 3.0 upfront but only a 2.8 in the rear?

I did exactly this on sunday and got my first KOM 🙂 I used strava to flag then crop the segment. Wasn’t too difficult to suss out to be honest.

I’ve always had a soft spot for GT so last month I bought a carbon sensor pro frame from Merlin and I’m glad I took the gamble. I had a triple triangle GT way way back and still have fond memories of trying to paint it in the attic as a kid.

I’ve just got at least four years out of a pair of twenty6 prerunners. Very light and have taken lots of abuse. Emailed them though and can’t get any rebuild kits so they are destined for the bin now.

I agree trail rat. I love adidas but all my ones are loose at the heel but fit in the toes. Nike flynit are much better but the best fit for me is vibram five fingers.

Sounds like stanchions creaking in the crown. They can be removed and cleaned and refitted.take your front wheel off and twist the fork legs. See if it makes the noise.

Speed cross wide? I bought a size 10.5 as I’m normally between a 10 and an 11 and they were so tight I need a 12 just to stop my toes crossing over themselves.
