We were there today – great ride as ever. I think the wet conditions spiced the descents up nicely 🙂

Yep, as others have said, I’ve had good experiences with them and the delivery estimates seem accurate, if not pessimistic, on the whole. They’re usually quick to respond if you have any queries too.

Can’t comment on the gps as I’ve not used it.

Just added an extra £15 off orders above £100 with the voucher code “JUBILEE15” too..

    🙂

Loving my Sony HX9v at the moment. Full HD @ 1080p, 16x zoom and 10fps full resolution burst mode, fast intelligent auto-everything mode and great low light pics with clever trickery. Similar specs to the comparative Panasonic models but just a bit…. nicer (IMHO – recent convert from a Lumix)

Hmm, this is interesting. We’ve flown a few times and always gone with Emirates. Mainly coz they’re the cheapest when you factor in their regular “sales” and 30kg baggage allowance for plebs. The dubai-AKL leg is a nightmare but the A380 certainly helps – best legroom and entertainment I’ve ever had.

We might have to look at airnz more carefully next time.

That pinkbike thread really is……quite something! I feel a bit grim after the first page!

Well that was rather good. In an American sort of way :o)

Over sensitive perhaps? Especially if she was having a conversation at the time.

Saw that but thought I’d best not post it 😉

Closer to the edge = top documentary.

I didn’t realise how completely nuts Guy Martin is. Seems to have more lives than your average cat too!

Was hoping to do this one but unfortunately we’re not going to make it. Should be at the last 2 though.

Hope you get better weather than the last round 🙂

No, tax etc are added from the start.

I think they’ve just got set prices in pounds for stuff, so when you say your from the UK they make the Euro total match. As I say, they’re still cheap but it’s worth watching, especially if you use PayPal as they ad another wedge with their crap exchange rate (better doing a cc payment in most cases)

Ah well, some smiles amongst the usual STW sarcasm/wit!

I could buy it but I don’t want to give them the sale now. Petty? Maybe.

Bruneep – thanks, I feel better now :). Smudge – that takes the biscuit I reckon!

Another vote for torq gels. I don’t really get on with energy drinks but they’re easy to eat/digest and taste yum.

Well, for those folk who missed it, they seem to have extended the Icebreaker sale for another 3 days 🙂

Can’t help with your problems, although I will say my kies connection is a bit temperamental – sometimes need to unplug & plug it back in a few times before it accepts it. Unfortunately you need Kies to work to get any of the major software updates (Like the recent ICS one).

FWIW, I love mine – a bit like my old HTC but betterer 🙂 (edit and better than my GF’s IP4, IMHO 😉 )

Wow. Thanks to the OP – just watched this on iPlayer. Amazing scenes from what was supposed to be “sport”. Unbelievable!

Just to let folk know today’s the last day for the icebreaker sale.

Twas a good day considering the forecast. And at least the (quite considerable) tail wind was on the way back in. How the fast guys did it in that time is beyond me!

Great atmosphere and lovely to see so much local support after all the negativity surrounding it over the years.

I’m on my way up there this weekend. Currently in the Lake District looking up at clear blue skies. Oh the irony 🙂

I’ll think I’ll make the most of it and get a “warm up” ride in the sun at Whinlatter!

As for the op, I’ve got my “pocket rocket” waterproof and, depending on how bad it gets, endura waterproof 3/4 shorts – I’ll stand out from the true roadie crowd but it’ll be worth it I reckon 🙂

MC & Luket – you know what? You’re right, maybe I’ll get some more, spurred on by my own thread!

    Thanks again guys.

To be honest, Ive only just recently got into merino but, having warn a top and socks in baking heat for 2 days solid, without a whiff and staying cool, I’m sold on the stuff 🙂

Edit: sorry, I’m not helping am I? 😉

Dyffers – added tax?? Are you sure? The prices quoted all seem to include VAT – it’s just the postage that gets added at the end (around £3-5).

I found that with eVent stuff – generally quite disappointing waterproof-ness! Re-proofing has helped though – I have had much more success with the nikwax spray on stuff rather than the wash in.

You haven’t doubts Mr Fox? Not like you 😉 . Fwiw, I’d go with plan a – not sure I’d want to spend 8 consecutive days on a “race bred” carbon bike.

Oh, and funkydunk – don’t think this is the right forum to be jealous of folk with too many expensive bikes! 😉

Yep – I think druidh & higgo summed it up. You have to wait a little longer than usual but that seems the only real downfall.

Reggiegasket – You need to login or register before you can see the current offers. No card details or anything needed. Just an email, address and password I think

Very happy with our Sony. Great picture quality and some really nifty Internet based content. Really easy to use too if you get the free smart phone remote app.

It’s 3d, only because it was a fantastic offer but it’s fun to watch with the right films (proper 3d ones, not post production crap)

Have done and, predictably, they stick with the official line. No transfers and photo ID on the day.

Thanks for the advice. And yes, you’re all right, over £10 of the fees are Fedex “advancement fees”. It’s a real shame as I got great service off the company involved but now have a bill for nearly 25% of what the thing cost in the first place. Oh Well!

Well that was a bit damp. Far more fun that it should’ve been though. CyB must be one of the few place you can have a 20 mile ride almost improved by that sort of rain!

Big thanks to all the marshals who braved the weather and stood in it for hours.
