Ah ok – I’m assuming i’ll be getting a new frame and swing arm (I doubt the E-5 swing arm will fit an E-120 :-)

    Fingers crossed..

Z1ppy – oops. I hope I get matching frame and swingarm!!

Whytetrash – Not sure how I did it but the crack runs from the weld between the 2 shock mounts, to approx 2/3 of the way along 1 side on the upper mount!! I’d been getting frustrated with a constant creaking when climbing hard!!

Update – I didn’t realise the manager of the above shop was on STW. He recognised the details and phoned me to explain why the gear needed replacing – rumbled but all happy now.

Kind of glad really as it’s great to have a LBS you have faith in :-)

Second the comment re Endura customer support.

I’ve had nothing but excellent service from them in the past.

That doesn’t sound good! Although the water-in-shoes thing probably stems from the use of 3/4 length trousers – it’s amazing how much water gets in over the top of the socks!

As for the jacket – I’ve never been entirely convinced by the light weight breathable ones. My Endura eVent jacket holds up pretty well most of the time but does seem to soak through after about 20-30 minutes in really bad conditions. Still keeps me warm though for the most part.

I guess there’s always going to be a trade off between boil-in-the-bag completely waterproof stuff and not quite 100% but breathable!

    samuri – I love that! :-)

Nice to know it worked too – I always wonder with rabbits.

I’ve used them a lot – really good service and some great customizable cards.

Yes you can send them to yourself – works out cheaper if you’re ordering a few.

GrahamsS is right though – they are losing the novelty value these days :)

And Willard – that’s a bit of a controversial view. By the time you wait to see if the aggressive behaviour gets worse, it’s often become a “learned” behavioural trait and castration will have much less effect.

Fair enough if you’ve never had problems with your dog but there are other reasons (see above)

No question – if you’re not looking to breed from a dog, I’d always recommend getting them done…..

Excuse me while I take cover but having seen so many avoidable (potentially fatal) problems in entire dogs/bitches I have pretty strong views!!

Yep – about a week for me too on a couple of orders I’ve had

Yes I know businesses have to make money and those that aren’t “focussed” enough tend to struggle – sad fact of life.

I suppoed it’s like anything – you only realise people are trying to rip you off when you know what you’re talking about. And in most cases, if you know what you’re talking about you’re less likely to be there asking for help in the first place!

I seem to have found a reasonbly decent LBS near where I work so am happy to pay a bit more to buy stuff off them. Hopefully they’ll stay that way

And no I’m not going to “name and shame” but it wasn’t one of the big chains and was a place I’d previously classed as a “decent mtb shop”

We rode Cwmcarn on Saturday and had an excellent time. Loads of snow but almost all rideable. Nice and quiet (plenty of walkers but very few bikers) and fantastic views in the sun too :o).

We had a few comedy stacks but at least the snow gave a relatively soft landing!

Rode there today – great fun. Nice and quiet too :)

The forest drive was well and truly closed though. Rideable on a bike, just but no vehicle access.

Took us a while to get round the Twrch trail but mostly rideable and plenty of ice and snow – very entertaining.

Yep, same here with Formula pads – fell apart after around 4 months. No probs with SSC ones since :)

 To be fair. If someone tried to squeeze my glands, I think I’d turn into something pretty similar .

It’s one thing I tend to forgive animals for getting stroppy about :)

And green stuff isn’t good – that suggests some infection???

Never going to be a fun job though

You can use fibogel – human gel or powder that bulks up the faeces.

Otherwise raw/lightly boiled Carrot/brocolli etc is good.

I love the guilt trip thang :)

At the end of the day, no one is really going to chase this up (are they???). Any one “of sound mind” would realise this is a cock up

Plus, it’s bloomin’ good advertising for a new online bike store trying to get started :)

Got to be worth a try hasn’t it. They don’t ask for any card details or anything :)

    Another vote for TomTom.

Tried some others (Garmin, RoadAngel) but they just don’t seem to do the job as well. Not sure about ease of use as it depends what your used to.

As mentioned above, I think you may just be jumping the gun a bit here.

RA is just a possible differential that has to be ruled out. I had that blood test when I was around 25 as I was struggling with multiple joint pain – unsurprisingly it was negative. It’s just something they have to check for.

Equally, even if diagnosed, there are various forms/severities of disease and treatments are available to slow progress.

And no, lack of suspensions wouldn’t bring on RA. It may help the onset of Osteoarthritis though ;o)

I would’ve thought it’s worth a bit more than a rift zone as it comes with a Fox RP2 shock rather than the X-fusion. And it’s a better colour ;o).

We were riding there last weekend. The “freeride” section at the very top (the one that starts with the choice of 3 drops) is closed so you have to use the normal route down. Also the top section of the descent just after this through the trees is closed, to just before the 90deg left turn & steep tarmac climb.

Still plenty of riding there. Hope that helps.

Well, he’s pretty bold if he really is nicking them. Some of his earlier auctions have a link to his own website – thatbikeguy.co.uk. Describes himself as Londons favourite new/used bike website.

Got his name and contact details on there too :o)

Blimey – haven’t heard this one before but it’s amazing how confused people can get themselves on something relatively straight forward. “Wood” and “trees” spring to mind.

Oh, and yes it would take off

Sorry – I know it’s not what you’re looking for but another vote for Parrot here (MKi9200). Especially now they’ve ironed out some of the software problems with recent patches!

Tried a few cheaper options that just didn’t work anywhere near as well.

Halford were true to form and bodged the fitting though :o(

You’re right, the included ones are a bit pants! And they fall out your ears during any sort of excercise.

I’ve got some Sennheiser ones like these for mucking around in…

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FI49Z4

Good sound for the price and they stay in your ears once you figure out the over-the-head loop thing :o)

Not wanting to sound patronising but, are you sure they’re gone? They do tend to be very short/stumpy.

If they are missing, check the rest of the cats gums – if they are bright red, especially close to the teeth that may indicate an underlying problem such as viral disease. Are they vaccinated?

If the gums are a nice pale pink colour, I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Most likely nothing to worry about but, as ever, check with your own vet if any doubts.

Blimey – 9 GCSEs, 4 A lvls, 6 years at uni to get a BVetMed. Work silly hours for less than a lot of people on here.

Things have improved a bit since I started locum work but even so.

Still, I enjoy my job, which is something not many people can say :o)

My brother’s in the same position (early 40’s). He’s been told that cycling should be ok but any impact sports (skiing, martial arts etc) should be avoided.

The biggest risk after hip replacements, apart from overall wear & tear, is dislocating the joint – it’s not as strong as the original.

The rules state helmets and “full finger” gloves are manditory. Full face helmet & elbow/knee pads are recommended.

I guess the pads are a good idea but I’m not sure I fancy riding an entire enduro with a full face lid!

    Nice word play

Adjustable seat post… now there’s an idea… If I manage to get on the site – I can’t access it either at the mo!

Have you done the enduro before – any idea on total ride length etc?
