Not boring. Just not particularly technical.

Really good event – mellow atmosphere, well organised and you can pick which route you want to do on the day. Good post ride food too.

Disappointed I’m missing it this year but Mayhem beckons and there’s only so many weekends I can do 🙂

I won’t pass Judgement until a certain impartial MTB mag have cast their expert eye over it……

    I’m sure they’ll think it’s great though 😉

although I do find people’s scales seem to vary

Hmm – yes, I do seem to have quite pessimistic scales compared to most on here 🙂

Again, just as a bit of balance. I’ve had Fox forx – never had problems with premature wear…

Just bought some Revelations which I’m very happy with so far but in the current manual they recommend checking/lubing seals every 10 hours!!! Sounds pretty similar really.

Have a few quid from me – very worthy cause.

I’ll try and remember to bring the pads from your roof bars too…

My bro had the same problem – The importers suggested putting the tyre on a non-tubeless rime (with tube) and inflate to a high psi overnight to stretch the tyre. Take it off in the morning and straight onto the tubeless rim.

Seemed to work well for him 🙂

Didn’t think you could air sprung Pikes now – aren’t they Revelations?

A mate of mine used t ride one – had a go at Inners once.

Very upright, very plush, pedals much better than the weight would suggest. Begs to fly every time you hit a bump 🙂

It didn’t feel as stable or “fast” as my 223 but it was a fun bike to ride.

To be fair, whenever I’ve replaced a chain too late it’s always been the smaller cogs that it’s skipped on on the cassette. Yes they’re probably not used as much but there’s less teeth to take the load so they do tend to wear down quicker.

In my humble and limited experience obviously 😉

surfr – you’ve misunderstood my point I think

I’m not criticising Dezb at all – these things happen and I am indeed surprised the dog managed to tackle a grown deer.

My point is just that this would suggest caution is needed in future. As previously stated, I see too many dogs needlessly put to sleep because of “accidents” with sheep etc. And there’s a good chance that deer’s future isn’t too rosy.

Some of these responses are absurd.

    Why?

surfr – love that photo. My dogs the same – if the cat runs away it’s sport; if the cat stands it ground she craps herself 🙂

While it is impressive, I’ve got to agree with RegP. I’d definitely be really careful in future – seen too many healthy dogs euthanased because they attacked livestock.

And there’s a good chance that deer will have problems over the next day or so with infection/shock etc,

Sorry – I sound like your dad now.

Ah the science and joy of auction sniping – definitely the best way to get a bargain (and avoid the temptation to spend more than you want to 🙂 ).

I’ve use auctionsniper quite a bit and if you haven’t used them before, you should be able to get a free trial.

I’ve got a Park PCS 10 – main advantages over the PCS 9 is a much better “QR” bike clamp and folding legs so much easier to store.

Can’t recommend Park enough – I had a problem with mine and got fantastic service – almost immediate response to emails and replacement parts sent direct from the US……with an apology for the hassle I’d had!!

    Marvelous 🙂

Easton are the only company (as far as I’m aware) that allow bar end use on their carbon bars without voiding the warranty. The only thing is, you need to use bar ends with a particular clamping style –

    http://www.eastonbike.com/downloadable_files_unprotected/other_pdf/barends.pdf

I had some carbon bar ends on my old Monkeylites without any problem at all.

Heart says charcoal, brain unfortunately says gas!

I was dead against gas BBQs until we used a friend’s one. As above, we now have loads more coz it’s sooo much easier.

I had the same problem just recently. It turned out to be the bearings in my freehub that were knackered, leading to the cassette wobbling. It seemed odd that it only affected the 3rd and 4th gears but there ya go. Might be worth checking?

No problem. If you’ve got MemoryMap or a GPS I can send you the tracklogs I’ve got from round there if you like (including the MBR long route (36km)).

Hope you have a good ride.

We use a great recipe with rolled oats, chopped apricots & hazelnuts and dark chocolate. Seems to be a good mix & tastes fab.

Oh, and if you want an end of ride Cafe – it’ll have to be CyB or Nant yr Arian. There’s a private house half way round the Dragons back at CyB that does cracking food & drink too.
