We’re off to Nerja this weekend – it’s full because of the Feria (horsey festival) going on so may be as well to avoid the centre.
Another vote for Ronda though – amazing place. A bit touristy but stunning scenery/architecture.

    Yeah, go on, I’ll bite.

Just how much do folk actually think the average vet earns? Probably around the same amount as a teacher according to recent studies. For a lot, that salary is for a pretty shitty, often thankless job, working stupid hours including nights/weekend on call and risking injury most days. The NHS culture in this country means health care in general is undervalued and expected as a right.

The comparison with a GP surgery is also irrelevant as how many of these have full operating facilities, dental suite, xray/ultrasound, etc etc on site, 24/7. The whole scale of your average doctors surgery is also much larger with no real competition. Plus the average GP earns around 3 times a Vets salary, with out of hours wages around 10 times.

Sorry for the rant but it really does annoy me how people expect Vets to work all hours and perform miracles for nothing. And for the OP, your cat’s alive and insured so where is the problem?

Interesting. I was thinking of going back to maxxis and the ardent does make a fine back tyre. Thanks for that.

Thanks for the comments. It’s not so much what works for the local area – I’ve been here long enough to know that. It’s more what’s a decent volume, fast rolling and fits in the chainstays of the Sherpa.

Did the first one on my full sus. This time in going for the hard tail. There’s a fair bit of fire road /tarmac and the descents are likely to be fairly steady due to traffic. Plus I need all the help I can get on the climbs :)

How on earth do you think airshows work hora? Booking something like the Vulcan for even a few fly pasts costs thousands. They’re not just a money making racket designed to “exclude” those less fortunate folk.

Fwiw, A ticket to RIAT would set you back around £45 each

We’re going. For less then £8 each (in advance), it seems very rude not to pay really. Even if you decide to park elsewhere on the day.

Another vote for Uberbike Race Matrix pads here. I’ve used them on XT and Avids with very little squeeking at all. Performance and durability seem top notch too.

Tunnel using Tesco clubcard points is my usual route.

Works out cheaper and soo much easier than the ferry.

Ooh! This looks promising! I did the Strata Florida loop from the other side (Claerwen and back via Coed Trallwm, a la STW “severe” loop) at the weekend and was pretty disappointed. This may have more about it.

    I await a full report ;)

edit: Looking at the gpx file though, be prepared to get your feet wet climbing up Strata Florida. I rode it the other way and the “water splashes” certainly aren’t designed to be pedalled through. Most are fine but one or two are hub deep (and black peaty water so hard to judge) :)

    theedgecycleworks.com have some good routes.

The LakeVyrnwy one Here[/url] is a classic little blast, although there was a fair bit of forestry work going on in the forest around point 13 last time I did it.

I ordered some stuff Wednesday and am yet to hear anything (except for the order confirmation). Website still says “Processing” on the order.

I’m hoping the service will be as good as others have suggested as we’re off to France next Thursday….

That was the most impressive piece of riding I’ve seen in a long time. And what a great result too – almost glad I’m on duty so stuck in watching it :)

Jtech for me – used him for loads of stuff and he fixed my vip’r when the old importers didn’t know what was wrong with it.

And I wouldn’t worry about your warranty – Bos certainly don’t seem to!

I used to use boxes which were great and you felt smug coz they were cheap and made the baggage guys sweat a bit.

I flew to NZ a couple of years ago with an Evoc bag and wouldn’t use anything else now. much easier to pack, more space and easy to carry round an airport without giving yourself a hernia.

    IMHO obviously!

I think they’ve managed to clear most of the MTB routes now haven’t they?

I’ve been running one for the last few weeks with a medium cage XT mech. Very happy so far – smoother shifting than I expected.

B-tension is screwed all the way in and it just about clears.

Mikewsmith – you miss my point, or rather I didn’t explain myself very well!

If the op has just bought the basic kit then the calipers will just transfer straight onto the mounts/adapters they’ve already got. I just meant, if they have bought a kit with different sized rotors included, it should come with mounting kit too.

You’ll be fine. The slx calipers should fit on the avid adapters. Only issue is if your using different sized rotors but, if that’s the case, the new brakes should come with correct mounting kit anyway.

I’m always keen to get it through my lbs (I’m fortunate to have a really good one) but they can’t get hold of one. That’s why I thought I’d post on here, see if any shops had one in stock.

No problems though – maybe I’ll go matt instead.
