Hmm – some good suggestions on here. I’m updating my apps list as we speak 🙂

And another -1 for task killers. They’re not needed

edit: just trying RMaps. This seems to be a very powerful GPS/mapping tool. I like it 🙂

    Didzy2009 – depends how you store/plan routes.

IME, waypoints are just used for major landmarks/junctions where you need a bit more info than just where to go. I store all my rides as tracks with a pretty much infinite number of track points, and use the occasional waypoint to give extra info.

    HTH 🙂

Who’d have thought Gravity droppers would ever be considered the “budget” option for adjustable seatposts 😯

They still work the best though, even if they are minging!

All good suggestions so far. May I add

Move to SD – automatically moves apps to SD if possible
Mixzing – good free media player
    Last FM
    Google Goggles
    TuneIn Radio
    MyBackup

And AngryBirds is currently in Beta version in the Marketplace

Makore – Did it come unbranded or has he flashed an orange phone with a generic ROM. Either way, If the phone has been unbranded you should be able to update OTA using the above methods (assuming he’s running a standard ROM, not rooted). The important thing is, if he’s unbranded it himself, he’ll need to keep the SD card in the phone that he used to flash the ROM in the first place (ie, a goldcard) during the update procedure [/geek] 😉

Lots of stuff on the Forums about this. The Orange update has been released in the past day or so but seems to be rolling out incrementally. Keep checking and you’ll get it eventually.

I had an Orange branded phone but “debranded” it as I was sick of all the crappy Orange branded software on it and bored of waiting for updates – as above, on non-branded phones there has actually been a further update since 2.2!

Most/all have those hideous Daytime Running Lights… also available at the chav department of your local Halfords…

Erm, aren't they about to become compulsory on new cars in the EU soon?

Uh oh – just looked at the whyte 2011 site. The 146 looks a beast. AND it will be coming out in frame only options.

I must not test ride this bike……….

I had one as a company van for a bit and it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever driven. Admittedly I do suffer with an intermittent bad back but a friend said the same – claiming that just looking at mine brought his sciatica back!

I'd also never buy a Citroen after my boss took his car to a local dealer with a whole host of faults. It had done just over 100,000miles and the chap in the garage suggested that Citroens don't really last that long normally.

    Just my opinion obviously 🙂

Yep – Garmin (eTrex) units allow you to show any routes stored in memory on the map. You can change the colour/line style too to avoid any confusion.

Definitley check 3G coverage of the different networks for the area your moving to. If there's good 3g, you'll get performance approaching basic broadband. If your only on GPRS though, it'll crawl along at sub dial-up speeds.

To the OP, they claim to be a registered "Oakley Vault" with a shop in Portsmouth. Plus they feature quite highly on google shopping searches – not sure how much that means but they appear to be legit.

well it works fine on the road.
but when i took it off road, it was always pointing the wrong way, no matter what I had the settings on. I admit that I may not have tried hard enough to try different combinations of different settings or do an objective repeatable test.

Sounds like you may have the electronic compass enabled which, unless the eTrex is perfectly horizontal, is a chocolate teapot. It's only active below a certain speed which is presumably why it appears to work on roads (when you're travelling faster). Turn in off by holding the "search" button (I think) down until it says it's switched off.

    HTH.

I use the DVD service and tried to watch a film online when they started including them in the subscription. I have to agree that the quality wasn't the best and it did have the occasional "buffering" wobble which didn't help the flow of the movie. Don't think I'd bother again.

Oh, and yes, it would certainly eat into any monthly allowance, can't say exactly how much though I'm afraid.

I'd pay $14 if I thought there was a chance of getting a stable feed that didn't stop every minute or so.

I'm a big fan of acupuncture and it can be very effective for the easing of head-aches (I use it on animals though!).

It's certainly no substitute for the proper investigation of a problem though! As others have said, I'd push for more tests if I were you.

Into thin air & The Climb, tragic ambitions on Everest are both excellent books on the same disastrous season. The first is probably an easier read but the latter is still a great book and gives balance to an otherwise quite biased account of what happened.

I have to agree with Neil853 – I'd love to have watched the World Cup on Freecaster but had to settle for Eurosport (with the sound turned down) as I could never get a stable link (fast home internet connection or at work). I certainly wouldn't risk paying money for the same result – shame as I'd happily support freecaster otherwise.

Didn't know about the Binners/the prawn saga – that really does stink! It is true though that people get lulled into a false sense of security on here (roadrage syndrome, isolated from the real world, as stated before). I know I've been pulled up by people in the past for posts on here.

As for being an accountant – I can only dream of such importance!

And yes, actually I'm a dole scrounging fixie ****t with crap gear ratios an bad speling n sh1t. I'm off to MTFU and try interacting with the RW for a bit coz that's what Lady Di would've done….gulp 😯

Went to the FoD with a couple of "locals" last weekend – I didn't realise the range of riding to be had round there, having only ever really done the FoDCA trail & the various DH tracks.

Trails like the old enduro route, mushroom trail and Dowie's (sp?) were great big chunks of wholesome rooty goodness 🙂

Given the proliferation of trails all over the place round there, I'm not sure I'd want to rely solely on GPS though.

Gary_M – with regards to the Desire tethering, if you're running the latest software update (2.2) you can use the phone as a wifi hotspot and connect that way – I do with my iPod Touch and it works fine.
Probably frowned upon by your mobile phone provider but as long as you don't take the P I'm sure it'll be fine.

I've got the same problem with the car I've just bought (A3).

IFAIK, you can get a replacement key cut with a microchip that will work for the immobiliser but probably wont set any alarms etc when using it to lock/unlock the car. If you want the full remote that will do everything it's a back-to-dealer-to-reset-everything-and-charge-a-fortune job.

That's what I was lead to believe anyway. Might be different for Peugeots…

If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't say that the weather sounds particularly unusual. I've had several weeks in the French Alps where 5/6 days were a wash out. Still great riding but we could've been anywhere as far as the views were concerned (ie mist fog & cloud).

Sounds like you're still getting some good riding in though 🙂

There are Tags?…. Ooh yeah – is there a reason for them? I've never really bothered with them in the past!

If the PC's not picking it up on USB, definitely try it in a mains charger. As mentioned above, I've often found that USB charging, esp from cheap in car chargers, isn't quite enough to get round the initial charge, start up, screen on, discharge cycle.

An over night charge would be the next bet.

Edit – if the above doesn't work and you bought from Amazon I'm sure they'd replace it without hesitation – their returns policy is legendary 🙂
