glenh – really? I know contacts & diary entries are sync’d but not sure about the rest. I was keen to save SMS messages & stuff so went with the backup sofware.

Titanium backup gets good reviews too.

I use MyBackup Pro – really useful and configurable (even more so if rooted but still plenty of options if not). You can download a free trial which lasts for a month – plenty of time to backup and restore on the new phone.

Damo – compared to the Mono M4s I used to run on my 223, the Elixirs are significantly more powerful. Not sure how they compare the the newer “tech” models though.

I run these on 3 bikes – love them. Compared to my old Mono Minis they are a big leap in power and I never need more than 1 finger to break now (from XC riding in Wales to doing the Mega this year)

The bite point adjuster requires a nack to do but I’ve not had any problems with the unwinding. The bleeding is a bit fiddly but the power & modulation is awesome.

One thing I have noticed is, they tend to show up cheaper pads – I was happy to use SS/anything on my Hopes but not with the Elixirs.

edit – Realman you don’t need to take the lever off the bar, you just need to hold the outer cable end in place whilst rotating the adjuster

My god, is this still going. I’d have thought you would have the wisdom/dignity to walk away from this one and let it lie.

You really are doing yourself and your product no favours arguing a point that a)you can’t really win and b)is of very little relevance to the actual claims your product makes re exercise & endurance.

It does amaze me that people will pay a lot of money for what is effectively a “Posh mongrel”.

milkman – don’t confuse a lack of response with any sort of agreement/placation.

Firstly maximuscle advertising, site based or not, has nothing to do with the users of this forum. Secondly, that’s not something most people on here would use, regardless of it’s pros/cons – I suggest you stop trying to divert attention.

And thirdly, it’s evening and people have better things to do than write on here (unless they’re still stuck at work….like me… 🙁 )

    ….must…..stop….posting……

Damn – I wasn’t going to comment any more!

if you read the scorn and abuse at the beginning of this thread based on no knowledge or experience whatever I’m sure you would want to respond in like vein.

Unfortunately that’s where your main problem lies – I know at least one of the initial posters, I know their profession, and I know they’re in a very good position to make scientific/clinical judgements on such things. I also agree with some of the points made and you have done nothing to support your arguements against them.

Oh, and I also have some knowledge of these matters, all be it fairly limited, coming from a (veterinary) medical background and I make my judgements accordingly.

The fork is at the end of the long, fast, loose singletrack straight, just before the first big right hand berm…..iirc!

foxy – you fell off on the bit he missed 😉

I think you missed a left fork just before one of the last big berms you describe on the blue descent.

I did it for the first time a few weeks ago and, had it not been for the mates in front who knew where they were going, I think I’d have missed it too – having too much fun and concentrating on the up-coming berm, not the small wooden sign 😳

Just received mine in the post – not quite on a par with Photobox perhaps but still great quality and a bargain for the money. Might get some more I reckon 🙂

Not just the Masai, but throughout the world, people have lived by keeping cattle and goats for the last 10,000 years so it’s not that this is something so new like soya beans, let’s say. And if you resort to the Daily Mail for your references it’s a sure sign your on weak ground.

Ok, here’s where I stop reading this thread. You’ve clearly been backed into a bit of a corner and are now spouting random facts that make no sense in relation to your product’s claims. So various nomadic tribes live in hot conditions and live off cattle/goats. Where does that say that powdered colostrum helps their lifestyle or health? They keep cattle that produce colostrum for the first 24-48hrs of lactation………so?

I won’t be buying into your product so……I’m out!

Well, I’ve actually read through all this and my opinion re Colostrum usage hasn’t changed a bit.
I read the artical on the front page with scepticism and nothing here has given any form of logical proof that anything in colostrum is of any use after the first few hours of life, above and beyond it being another form of high energy “drink”.

Milkman – I’m quite shocked that, as a spokespersons for your company, you are so aggressive and dismissive regarding other arguments. Simply supplying more and more anecdotal evidence and goading people into calling you does nothing to support your claims, or enhance the image of your company. Are you really suprised no-one has phoned you?

watch San bushmen of the Kalahari desert track an antelope until it collapses from heat stroke. It cannot dissipate the heat it is generating and it’s wearing a fur coat. Point made?

Classic example I’m afraid – “evidence” that does nothing to support your claims. You’ve successfully proven that animals can collapse of exhaustion!

Mmm. They do look nice this next year don’t they. I’m trying to resist the urge to demo a 146 as I know i’ll love it 🙁

FWIW – the 2010 E-120 is lovely – bit noisy on the descents but climbs like nothing else. I guess the alloy main-frame may reduce the noise too…

mboy – Thanks for the info and comparison – spot on.

James – good call, might have to take the plung at that price.

    Cheers guys

For those people interested in this, it look like the Garmin UK release dates are slipping a bit. Several sites are now saying early December (despite what Wiggle/CRC still promise).

Hopefully still in time for Christmas…

We’ve done the odd city break before but, ime, they tend to work out expensive and quite tiring (especially Scandinavia!). Not sure if I’d want to go for a week either.

We’re just looking for a rest this time really, on a bit of a budget.

Much better than I thought it was going to be – I’d recommend it.

The new Garmin Edge 800 looks promising, if expensive. Especially if you don’t want the training aids. Full OS mapping too (either via the official garmin ones or “custom mapping”)

    That’s odd.
Might be worth downloading the latest version again and trying that – I don’t think you actually have to install anything in Windows do you – just run the exe file (you did extract all the files in the directory before running the program did you?)

Yep – that’s it. One of the options along the left hand panel – under “Atlas Settings”, there’s a drop down box with “Format” by it. You should be able to select RMapsSQLite

    fbk

Beamers – not sure why yours isn’t working, assuming you set up the profile correctly in mobile atlas – installed the SQLite jar files and save the maps as an RMapsSQLite format?

It all seemed pretty straight forward when I tried it last.

If you download Mobile Atlas Creator on the PC that has all you need to create and export maps to Rmaps, with instructions in the help file too.

I guess it’s predictable but a brave move given the calibre of riders they’ve had on their books – be interesting to see who stays with them.

GW – haven’t seen this anywhere else & it’s billed as fresh news on Dirt. Sorry to bore you though – feel free to walk away 😉

Further to my last post re Rmaps. I’ve been using it for a few days now and, when used with Mobile Atlas Creator, it’s fantastic and really easy to set up off line maps (google earth or OS, amongst others).

Just need to sort the battery life out now. And waterproof it 🙂
