From quite a young age I listened/went to sleep to Radio 4 every night on a low volume. This had 3 benefits:

    1.It helped me drift off
2.I listened to some amazing books on A Book at Bedtime.
3.I think it helped me be a well informed young person

Occasionally I listened to Alan Robson’s Night Owls on local radio…especially the bank holiday Monday Bladerunner Supequiz haha guilty pleasure 🤣
I’m now 46 and have recently gone back to listening to R4 at bedtime.

MS Forms allows you to share the form/quiz/survey via an independent web link. As long as the participants have access to any web accessing device you can get them to complete it. You can also create QR codes so any QR enabled camera on a phone or tablet can access this. We use Forms all the time now as so much simpler and easier than Surveymonkey etc.

Teeth grinding can also be a cause of those symptoms. I suffer from this as a side effect of the anti depression medication I take. I never was a teeth grinder before, but it definitely causes these issues. Predominantly on the left side of my lower jaw is where the majority of the pain is.

Damn good chance OP your good lady has mentioned “its a good time” as she is already ‘enroute’ and was testing your reaction… Well, that was my experience anyway 🤣 🤣

Moved over to Halifax this year for Home insurance and policy covers all bikes as I’ve itemised them. I had an escape of water claim last year too but price was still reasonable

A pair of giraffe socks – they were for a secret santa at work (£5 budget) and I’m a tight-wad (unless bicycle related of course)…the recipient loved them too!

1984…aged 11 – the bonnet of an Austin Maxi when he pulled out of a side road without looking…so badly made…it came off worst. My 5 speed Puch Pacemaker however was not in good shape.

A very long time ago in a galaxy far far away…was out in the wilds of Glen Feshie on a MBR route with @nobbingsford. Once more directionally challenged (frequent occurrence) we stopped to work out where a wall was we were supposed to be following when I stepped in a boggy bit of ground and disappeared thigh deep. Needless to say @nobbingsford was ‘suitably’ sympathetic. I returned the favour (total lack of sympathy shown but much laughing) when he lost his shoe in a boggy bit on Deels Hill/Border Ridge in Northumberland.

I have suffered with lower back pain due to degeneration of L5/6 for over 25 years and also suffered with referred sciatic pain in both legs for 15+ years. 5 years ago I had a bilateral nerve root block, and more recently 2 rounds of facet joint injections about 2 years apart. Over the years I have been prescribed codeine phosphate, amitryptiline, tramadol, diclofenac, gabapentin & naproxen.

Far and away the best treatment I have had was the nerve root block. It was transformative in terms of daily pain.
The 2nd round of facet joint injections at the beginning of this year has also been of benefit.

I no longer take anything stronger than paracetamol and ibuprofen and generally speaking only really suffer when I’m lazy and don’t stretch etc. or over do it/adopt poor positions when sitting etc.

I have never tried any alternative remedies but, personally, genuinely feel that the combination of some medical intervention plus physio & exercise is the way to go. I have absolutely no desire to undergo full surgery e.g. fusion.

Bushmills malt for me. However, the 21 year old is most definitely not in the £25 price bracket. Not very helpful really. Apologies 🤣

I use Specialized Sport MTB shoes and only had to go up 1/2 size. My right foot is a very wide fit, but these surprised me with how comfy they were. Also weren’t too expensive comparatively speaking.

Maybe not the best but I have a couple of DHB ‘Slice’ backpacks from Wiggle (15 & 30 ltr) and they have seen me alright especially given their price compared to some packs.

What @lodger said ^^ Cruz bars are great provided you put the rubber strips in. I’ve had thule bars of all types, and the Cruz and quality is comparable especially if just for roof box duty

As above ^^^but I have Bliss ARG minimalist. Feel odd for first 2 minutes then you forget you are wearing them. Oh, and I crash tested them on rocks. Knees covered in pads = saved. Elbows covered in nowt = not saved and messy.

      – I have an older style policy with Tesco. It’s underwritten by Tesco Underwriting, but it’s not available as a new policy unfortunately, hence I haven’t recommended it. The newer style policies have limits as suggested above. My mate has his with Halifax and no issues but bikes are itemised and has made claims previously with AXA too, all handled really well.

Dogbone – important to check what the limits are then. As an example, in the garage my stuff is covered up to contents sum insured so £75000. In the shed,as defined as an outbuilding, regardless of construction type, contents limit is £5000 max. On my policy a detached garage would be considered an outbuilding.

Is the garage integral or at least attached to the main house? Most contents cover will cover bikes, or other contents in the garage for that matter, up to the value of your contents cover. Eg I have blanket contents cover of £75000 and under my cover there is no single article limit, I am covered up to the maximum sum insured. Away from the home, that’s normally extra level of cover. If you have a detached garage, or one in a ‘block’ for example contents sum insured value may be lower as it may be classed as an out-building. But it is very much insurer specific. Barclays used to do great bike cover but they are very expensive these days or so I have found.

Thanks for all of the replies folks – helpful and wise as ever.

Apologies for single-handedly trying to devastate rain forests, poison oceans and end all of human-kind. I’ll learn from the errors of my ways and try to be a better human.

Montane Prism and Flux are both great jackets. Agree with the sizing issues though – I’m medium for the Prism, but large for the Flux. I find the prism gets the most use however.

I have been using the Hairy Bikers book; eating sensible lunches & breakfast…not snacking – my intake of lattes could probably do with reducing but you have to have treat now and then!! and cycling 8 miles a day to and from work.

I’m 5’9 and was emabarrassed at hitting 18st last August…my waist had gone up to 42″.

    I am now 13st and waist 36″.

I’m looking forward to their new book coming out soon.

    FunkyDunc…

I was shaking my head, in point of fact at the white car which passed me first, as it had raced up to just behind me then swung out and passed quite closely…I didn’t realise that a simple shake of the head was quite so offensive? Maybe I’m just getting old.
