Been quite a few years since our last visit but have fond memories of walking up Puck’s Glen and the food at the Coylet Inn. Lovely place

Thanks for the replies, a large will probably be the best bet but still need to see one in the flesh I think. Momo – that’s a lovely looking bike.

Just remembered (honestly!) got a couple of new 27.5 x 2.6 XR4’s for sale if you’re interested?

Bonty XR3/4’s? Light (quite thin side walls though), roll well and grippy.

I started to get elbow pain after doing pull ups and digging in the garden. Tried all the usual exercises and while they helped, I was never completely pain free.
Had a twinge in my shoulder one day so started doing resistance band exercises (internal/external rotations and pull parts) as a warm up and my elbow pain completely disappeared!

Those Obea’s look nice – good specs for the money. Could be full bike or frame only although thinking it may be easier to sell on a whole bike rather than just a frame and prices for second hand bikes are very strong atm.

Another Clubman owner here – 2014 R55 1.6D. Bought it a year ago to do a 70 mile commute and it’s been great. Ample room for 4 adults and can easily fit a bike in once the back seats are down.
Great fun to drive too and very comfy once I’d ditched the runflats and fitted Koni Special Active shocks. I like quirky, interesting cars and this fits the bill perfectly.

Heard an interview with Wim Hof ‘The Ice Man’ recently and he advised putting hands/feet in icy water to treat Reynaud’s and poor circulation. I have poor circulation in my lower legs and was thinking of giving it a go.

Rode a Marin hire bike out of Frosterley in Weardale on a youth camp in June 1991. Later that weekend I asked a girl to go out with me; she’s now my wife.

Ah, Weardale Mountain Bikes, would always pop in when traveling back from my parents caravan in Stanhope and lusted after the Kona Explosif that always seemed to be in the shop window. Went on a couple of Sunday rides with the owner (Ian Perrin?) on my Saracen Tufftrax Limited Edition – black with splatter graphics and 500LX gears, thought that bike was the absolute dogs. Happy days and thirty years ago!

And they’re here! Came in the correct Shimano packaging and are set up Euro style but that doesn’t bother me as I’ll have to disconnect the rear lever when fitting anyway. The finish on them isn’t too bad either – they certainly don’t look ‘cheap’.
Now I’ve just got to tackle my Remedy’s internal routing!

They are very exposed to hits.
While on holiday in the Lakes this summer my Sram NX shifter packed up. I was wanting to upgrade anyway so bought a new SLX shifter and XT mech. After fitting them I went for a ride (Borrowdale Bash) and this happened.

    Yep, that’s 1 hr old!

When looking for a sound bar to go with the new telly we ended up with one of these.

    https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/dvd-blu-ray-and-home-cinema/home-cinema-systems-and-sound-bars/denon-dht-s216-2-1-all-in-one-sound-bar-with-dts-virtual-x-10204839-pdt.html

Have been very impressed so far, excellent sound, neatly sits on our stand and easy to set up.

Knew it was a mistake putting that pic up!
Not that I’m in any way overthinking this (again) but I’ve just checked the Giant sizing chart (again) and the medium goes up to 5″11′!

    @Poopscoop
    , you were joking – weren’t you?

Have been paranoid about having chosen the wrong size ever since I had a couple of ‘that looks small’ comments (for the bike that is 😄). I’m average proportions (5″9′ 30″ inside leg) and bang in the middle of the height range for a medium but, like the OP’s, it seems to have a lot of seat post showing.
I know it’s a compact designed frame with a sloping top tube but still….

    @beefy
    – bigger frame looks much better.

‘Nerd alert!’ One thing to bare in mind when comparing A4/A6 quattro’s to the Skoda Scout is that they use entirely different drivetrains. The Audis use the Torsen system that’s permanent 4 wheel drive whereas the Skoda has Haldex which is normally front driven with AWD on demand and they are both quite different to drive.
I’ve had my 2009 A6 Allroad 3.0 tdi with 160k for 5 years now and it’s been great. The air suspension for me makes the car – you can have either a low slung estate or a very capable off-roader with self leveling for load carrying and towing.

Finally got it done using Toolstation Multistick. Hope I’m not the one who has to take it off!

Like the look of that toolstation stuff. I’m looking for something that grabs well as one wall is straight (interior stud wall) but the other exterior wall is a bit wonky. Put a straight edge down it and there are some 10mm gaps and the wall board isn’t very flexible!
Is the CT1 worth the extra?

Still love my Giant Revolt after two years but seriously tempted by the new Secan for my significant birthday present to myself next year.

Great ride – usually stay near Grange and use it as a quick 2 hr blast in the evening.
The climb mentioned by Johnas7 is also one of my favs. Starts off as a steep but easy land rover track then turns into a boulder fest after the second gate half way up and finishes with mega steep and slippy grass haul up to a gate in the wall at the top.
Finally managed to clean it (apart from the 3 gates) after several attempts earlier in the summer.

Never see them mentioned much but the Mavic Yksion Allroad Elites that came with my wheels have been excellent. Come in 30,35 and 40mm widths with the 40 (which I have) having a more chunky tread. They grip well, last ages, are very fast and I haven’t had a puncture (yet!). Not cheap to buy by themselves but would have them again.

Just checked the frame before I ordered and looks like the frame (Cube hardtail) has a press fit BB with a 90mm length shell, not a threaded one – so what size will I need?

@Steve – you’ve just answered my next question! Was looking at the UN55 – now ordered.👍

Have just ordered the cranks suggested by igm – thanks again.
I haven’t measured her leg length Steve but she is about 5’2″ as well, so going from what you said earlier I’ve gone for 150mm.

Thanks for everyone’s help. Had very helpful chat with SPA and as Kilo suggested they do shorter cranks but intended more for road use with a 110 BCD which may limit chainring choice.
My daughter’s old Frog 69 mtb has 140mm cranks which they sell separately (in various lenghs) for a bargain £20 but are 9speed only (current set up is 1×11).
Just had a look on Amazon at those Suntour cranks and at the moment they seem the best option.

Thanks Kilo I’ll give SPA cycles a ring tomorrow. Have checked CRC, Merlin and Madison etc without any joy (not for the price I want to pay anyway!)

Top of Latrigg looking over Keswick and Surprise View over Derwent Water – both a couple of minutes walk from car parks.
    Also +1 for Sutton Bank.

One of the best tips I read for seating tubeless tyres was to fit with a tube and blow up until both beads are seated. Remove tube leaving one tyre bead in place on the rim. Install tubeless valve, pour in sealant, pry loose bead on rim by hand then inflate.
Only having one bead to seat makes it so much easier and I’ve always managed with just a floor pump.

That was also my third aborted attempt at that route – somebody’s trying to tell me something.

Got two pairs (on my bike and juniors -black and blingy bronze) and they have been boringly fine. No maintenance at all and the cleats seem to last well.
Tried the XT trails and much preferred the Horizons as the sole of your shoe actually makes contact with the platform.

Had my Remedy 7 for about 6 months now and love it. Not ultra long, low or slack but, for me, that is part of its appeal giving a playful and poppy ride that still climbs well. Was worried about being over biked with 160/150 travel but it pedals incredibly well.
    I’m 5ft 9″ on a 18.5 and wouldn’t want anything smaller – at your height I would consider a 19.5

It rides lovely and is incredibly comfortable- the flex in the D-fuse seat post was actually a bit disconcerting at first.
I’ve changed the brakes to Ultegra’s and the wheels to Mavic Allroad Pros which made a huge difference (the original wheels were made of lead). Another good thing is the lack of toe overlap, the frame has the longest front centre of any of the bikes I looked at.

Stayed near South Stack island a few years back. RSPB center and Ellin’s Tower worth a visit, lovely headland further south at South Stacks Cliffs Nature Reserve (nice secluded bay down some steps IIRC). Park at Newborough Forest and walk along the beach (at low tide) to Llanddwyn Island. Remember sitting next to the lighthouse and watching the train through binoculars go up Snowdon.
