    Yep, I thought so.

There’s single fuse box for the main house, not sure about the others. Often trips in winter b/c people are rinsing the lecky heaters despite it being prohibited contractually.

The lad in the basement told me he stopped paying the landlord for the bills years ago, but doens’t leave, hence goes to town on the washing machine and god knows what else.

Maybe a deficiency of some kind? Thyroid? Poor diet? I’d go to a GP and get tested.

I need boost at the front but 142 at the back.

I’m just going for the 1900s, I think.

Light wheels sound nice but generally, with only one bike, a broken rim means a week or two of no riding.

I think its Shimano HG splined — basically the one lower end SRAM 12x’s use, right?

Thanks, apparently the DTs come with convertors, so without the new rotors, they’re almost 100 euros cheaper.

One thing, I’m pretty sure, but to check: I’m currently running a standard Eagle SRAM. On the website,  Get a choice — Shimano or SRAM XD. I want the Shimano, right?

    Thanks again,

    FM.

That’s it, they get mixed feedback. Not sure why? They’re about 300g lighter than the DT Swiss. I could afford the next models up (the 1700s, I think) but can’t find any with non-boost.

The adaptors cost almost as much as a rotor.

What should I get external or internal splined for DT Swiss wheels??

Does it make a difference? Oh bicycle “standards”!

yeah, there are cracks around the eyelets for 3-4 spokes, but the one pictured is the most unsightly.

Will I die if I throw a tube in and ride around on those rims?

The current wheelset is just the OEM stuff that came with the bike (Big Bro 2019).

I don’t think they’re particularly good or bad.

The rim is toast actually, just saw several fractures in the rim around the spokes.

Maybe, I’ll see what the LBS says — labour isn’t too expensive here.

Failing that, any solid, ‘fit and forget’ rear wheels? More interested in durability than weight.

Hi frank, I’ll be living just over the road from Holyrood Park, so pretty central it seems.

“Do you like busy cities with lots of people, tourists wandering slowly, expensive food and crowded bars?”

lol, indeed, I already in live in such a city (albeit in Spain with more affordable and better food!), so I guess that won’t be so unusual for me.

The other alternative is Durham, which I imagine will be a little more sedate.

Every year, billions of animals are systematically tortured and kept in the most abject misery imaginable in concentration farms, yet when it comes to indulging taste buds (mostly) rather than sadistic impulses, it’s defended as both necessary and right. There’s an argument for nutrition and land usage in limited and specific ways, but generally, we ignore this vast, endless crime against nature because we simply prioritise the taste of hamburgers, bacon, etc., over the alternatives.

    Thanks, I’ll find out!

Regarding government stuff, i.e., anything in the “public domain”, does that also need a copyright request?

    Hmm thanks all!

It’s a FOX 32 Rhythm GRIP. I think its an OEM fork.

In the end, I took it back to the LBS and they’ve fixed it.

Nixie, yes! it does actually – but turning it all the in/out doesn’t seem to make any difference.

(PS what a faff these things are, I can see now why people avoid them. Is it possible to remove the whole unit and put a manual remote on??)

It’s weird. I think maybe they’ve fitted it in the LBS so that when the lockout is clicked in, there’s not enough cable to take actually lock it on the forks.

    Family living there.

Given it was widely predicted, authorities sound like they’ve completely dropped the ball.

Many people without power, water, or gas. City in a state of carnage.

Apparently, many people taking shelter in gyms, etc., without food or water.

Does anyone have a reasonable explanation of how the October incursion by Hamas into Israel was executed with virtually no initial resistance? I cycled through Israel in 2019 and have never seen anything like it – it’s basically a militarised state. From Tel Aviv to the south, there wasn’t a day that passed without a strong reminder of military presence in the country. Squadrons of fighter jets would be roaring overhead daily, military vehicles were always present on the ground, and transport hubs were always full of 18-year-olds armed with M16s, presumably returning home from military service.

Some nights I was terrified I would be crushed to death by some reckless squaddie in an APC or armoured vehicle, as you could hear them buzzing around at night, especially near the border with the West Bank. One night I remember they were so close I could see the red glowing ends of their cigarettes (whether they saw me or not I have no idea). In the area to the south of Tel Aviv, I cycled through regions where I feared there was an actual war going on (sounds of heavy artillery and gunfire at night, dogs barking, etc., it was terrifying). I met the IDF daily. It seemed impossible to avoid them. When I heard that hundreds of men had invaded in motorised paragliders, golf buggies, bicycles, etc., I initially thought it was a joke (sadly not).

“We are being asked to shun the Israelis, to mount a total moral repudiation of Israel – when that country has only recently suffered the biggest and most horrifying massacre of Jewish people since world war two.”

What is being asked is that a country and nation state which is a regional superpower act within international law and not prosecute a genocide on a people who are stateless and defenceless. This is what is being asked of Israel and this is what is being ignored.

And with all due respect, what apologists for Israel demand is selective outrage and condemnation. Condemn the Hamas attacks and be outraged by them, but not by Israeli murdering many thousands of innocent children, as though the current theatre of atrocity is somehow justified by the atrocity the other.

With regards to accusing people of conspiracy theory by stating well-reported facts that Hamas were funded for political reasons is false equivocation. I don’t think anyone is saying that. Here, the facts speak for themselves.

If Biden continues to shield Israeli atrocity from global opinion, the American public, and even the highest machinery of his own party, and Netanyahu unleashes the IDF into the south, kills another 10,000 civilians, and raises the last of Gazan infrastructure, leaving it a smouldering, starving and hopeless ruin, where and to what do these two million destitute peoples go back to?

Israeli actions over the past few months seem nothing but counter-productive and against their long-term strategic interests. Launching strikes on international embassies, massacring international aid workers, and starving a civilian population is reckless, cruel, unnecessary, but most of all, ineffective. I can only surmise that this strategy is for the long-term political survival of Netanyahu rather than securing long-term security for the Israeli state.

Netanyahu’s aim appears to be total war, bringing Hezbollah and direct confrontation with Iran into the crisis, even before they have eliminated Hamas, which although weakened, still has the majority of its leadership intact, enjoys widespread support in Gaza, and now has undoubtedly many thousands of young, angry men as potential conscripts. These are men who will not easily forget bearing witness to nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters being blown into bloody bits while IDF troops dance, laugh and joke as they loot homes and humiliate a broken people on social media.

Israel bleeds support now, and this is clear through high-profile judges, Tories, and even the US Democratic establishment turning against her. Netanyahu and his political supporters are reckless, incompetent, fanatical and criminal. What is staggering is his historical support and funding for Hamas. In this way, Netanyahu is Hamas’s best asset, providing them with funding, widespread support domestically while isolating Israel abroad.

I was literally about to post about this, don’t want to thread hijack, but what do other runners suggest I do: I’ve got a small pain just behind the top of the kneecap, right leg, when I run, been here about a week, not sure to ‘run through it’ and keep training or leave off? I also feel it when I cycle. I woulnd’t say it’s painful but it’s defo sending a signal to say it’s not happy. I normally run trails, around 5-12k each run, doing a lot of ele. gain, so nothing crazy.

Same, not a fanboy but having had a string of Samsungs and Motos, they don’t seem to last anywhere near an iPhone. In another year, I’ll replace the battery for my 12 and hope it to get another 3 years out of it.

The 12 mini is a brilliant phone. Again, nice form factor for those not wanting a tablet in their pocket. If I were you, I’d buy a 12 or a 13 mini.

Apple refurbs have got black 12 minis for around 350 quid, which is pretty decent overall. I think the mini’s are worth the extra cash over an SE for various reasons (camera, 5g compatibility, useful face lock function, larger screen but same size).

The main advantage the 13 has over the 12 is a much longer battery life.

I got a Fenix 7 and I get tracking and full GPS for 4-5 days on a single charge. For multi-day treks, long days out, etc., I wouldn’t bother with the Apple Watches, but they’re probably more feature-packed for day to day stuff.
