    Hi
I have used Halfords along with some work colleagues.
If you want a bike that they dont normally stock then you pay full whack as they have to order one in.
BUT if you have your voucher and you walk in to the store you can have what ever they have in stock at the face value they are selling it for.
At the moment in my local Halfords there is the top of the range Boardman road bike (about £1400 list)from last year discounted down to £999 then cos its shop soiled there is another 15% off-so about £850. This is available at this price through the scheme.

At the minute I am more bothered about the overall package of “stuff” that comes with the device, hence why I am attracted to the iphone-i was thinking about buying an ipod touch anyway so thought I would combine the two.
One thing that does appeal is Wifi which is why I was also considering the SE905.
Realistically I only take the odd photo and send the odd MMS which is why I siad I wasn’t overly bothered about the “shortcomings”.

Bump as I am planning to go on Sunday.
Do the current conditions mean its not worth the trip-over an hours drive?

    Hi
I have a non remote GD and now also a remote Maverick.
I was happy with the GD until I tried the remote version this weekend.
With the GD you have to pre-judge where you need to use it to a certain extent which is fine for big descents followed by extended ups or flat bits.
What I liked about the Maverick was that I could be dropping down singletrack and come to a very steep drop/step or gnarly bit and if I didn’t like the look of it the seat was down in an instant.
I also like the fact that I can drop the seat just one inch or so (compared to 3 inces on the GD) and I find that that is fine most of the time.
I rarely need to drop the saddle all the way.

    Hi
I recently purchased a Maverick remote version off here.
It does have float in the saddle but I dont notice it when riding and I have used a gravity dropper in the past which did this also. Overall fairly happy with it but I have a couple of issues/questions:
1.There seems to be a point where, if its clamped in the frame, it stops the saddle returning to full height almost as if it was nipping the inner and outer tubes together
    2. Even if I get it set up properly before the ride there seems to be times when it still doesn’t return to full height.

I took it to bits and it was fairly clean inside but I cleaned and re-greased it anyway but has anyone else experienced this.

I have been using x9 since they came out. I have 3 bikes with them on and they all get ridden all year round to various degrees.
The newest one is an 07 model the others are significantly older. All are working fine.
I ride 2/3 times per week every week in the lakes/Dales/N Yorks Moors various trail centres etc.
The lower jockey wheels wear faster than the top and need to be replaced every 18 months or so.
The oldest one is probably more than 4 years old.
I have trashed 2 mechs but in circumstances where I dont believe any would have survived.

    Hi
I normally use diluted copydex as a sealant. Not sure how similar (if at all it is to stans) but I have mixed it with Bonty juice no probs with Bonty Jones ACX or Conti Verticals.

It was originally directed at the OP but applies to you too.
The ride wont be that hard and you could dip out at any time if you wanted.
Up to now there is only me and Brian so it should be steady away.
I will be out with the Undertaker-I think there are 4 or 5 of us coming over.
I think we are planning to do the new Whinlatter trails but dont quote me on that.

    Hi
I may be riding in Reeth on Sunday morning-its just over the hill from Askrigg!!!
Normally get there for about ten and will be riding for 3-4 hours. If you want to meet up let me know-you could ride with us for a couple of hours then I could point you back to Reeth or stay with us.
The descent you speak of is a good one but will be quite muddy unless it freezes over the weekend.

    Hi
    I have ridden these routes.
I have ridden the red line heading west and it is a quite steep ascent-it is quite a wide well surfaced jeep track that would be very fast going down and over very quickly.
The redline heading north is moorland singletrack which is nice in the dry or when frozen but best avoided if wet-it gets very boggy!
The blue line heading west is a decsent (mainly) but very grassy/draggy and would be pedally even descending-again best avoided unless frozen or dry. However where this line joins the other bridleway next to where it says mine workings it is a nice descent which is grassy/gravelly in sections and is ok to ride at anytime. It is fast though and over very quickly.
    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi
I will take it if you are giving it away
However before you do that you might want to try Bontrager rim strips (about £2.99 each) and make your own valves from old inner tubes or buy Bontrager ones (about £4 each)
Have used them on a number of different rims with great success although the strips are tight on Maviv 317/717’s
    Cheers
