I would be able to fit a yurt in my back garden.
I have around 20 military WW2 canvas tents in in brown. It’s the only use I can thing of using them for is in the construction of a DIY yurt.

The negatives posted already are pretty much confirming my suspicions so thanks. It’s all things to bear in mind as the stores and brochures don’t tell you this.
Yes they are expensive, but not as expensive as a camper van what I really wanted.
Hopefully it will last many years of all year round camping.
Before I go any further in shelling out for one I’ve booked a 3 night stay in one on the Nation Trust site in the Langdale Valley in the Lake District. £137 for three night stay. Iam hoping it rains so I can experience what living in one really entails in the UK, eg coming off the fell soaking wet and trying to dry kit out over the stove etc. It will also give me a bit of time to get the wife accustomed to the idea of purchasing one.

Winston.. I had a multi fuel previous to the C4 with screw thread inlet at the bottom and sliding air wash inlet on the top of the stove.
I also did wonder if just having 3 settings on a lever would be a issue, but to be honest I think it’s works fine.
The glass blacking up I suspect is because of its small size, once all fuel has been burnt it’s cooling down during the night and residue fuel leaving deposits on the glass.
It’s just case of a bit of spit and a wipe with newspaper to clear anyway.

I decided on the C4 for its single control, as Iam away from home a lot, so it’s left to the wife to run, she just wants fire and heat quick and easy.

Yep, Iam also using a little smokeless fuel with seasoned logs. Iam going to pull the multi fuel grate out and just try burning logs, I shall let you know how I get on.

    Nobody roasting chestnuts?

Steelfan how you finding your C4? Can you leave it going all night without the glass blacking up.
    What fuel do you use?

I’ve finally found an app called Future Text, I will give it a try.

I know it sounds odd, having to send a pointless text to the same person daily, but if I fall foul of this (not texting between 16:00-17:00) then I could have a days wage deducted.
This text is just to remind an agency they can task me.
However if Iam already tasked then this text does not need to be sent.

I have been paid a weeks wage for sending 5 text messages this week. In other words I have been paid to do nothing 😉 apart from watch the Olympics. As if nobody tasks me, then I get paid regardless.

I have access to many a wood source, Iam just confused why a HETAS installation complete with flue liner, would be a lot more inefficient than a £200 self install.

I’ve just set up my samsung smart tv about an hour ago. I found the tv would only work once the Infra red extender cable was connected. It plugs into the port above the headphone socket marked IR

(That’s if it’s a similar tv to mine, the wife found the extender cable in the accessory pack)

A few Mallards had taken up residence on the front road, they had no access to water and were sleeping most nights on the pavement.
I built them a temporary pool on the front drive.
I didn’t realise I had blocked my 4×4 in until I woke up late for work the following day.
They were no ducks in the pool so I drove straight through it , in full view of a couple of neighbours who were stood chatting whilst walking their dogs.

The cycle path from Queensferry to Cester by the river dee will be ideal. It’s a good way off the actual river 😉
Nice smooth cycle ways around Acton Bridge by the river Weaver as well.

For the last 2 years I had a £250 stove and flue pipe shoved up the existing chimney, worked fine.

However I’ve just paid 3k for a professional installation, lining my chimney was the second worst job my team yesterday had ever undertaken.

I even had to don coveralls and help feed the liner through.

My chimney on a 1930s semi-detached involved a S bend from the lounge into the bedroom, and a dog leg from bedroom to the loft.
We had to expose the chimney breast in the loft so I could help feed it through.
In total 2 blokes on the roof, me in the loft, and a chap in the lounge pulling on a rope, and every swear word imaginable was needed to feed the liner.

I was almost tempted to line the chimney myself with a mate earlier on this year, after seeing what was involved yesterday so glad I didn’t .
Although I reckon if a chimney was pretty much straight up then it wouldnt be to much of a difficult job for a couple of capable people.

I drive a 4×4 to work, where I then jump in a 8×8 and move heavy things off road.

Contemplating buying a Audi just for the shop run.
