What do they ride like? Is the back end harsh?

Apparently baking them above 200 degrees Celsius weakens the aluminium. There have been a few posts on here about it that I had not noticed until I had recommended powder coating to half a dozen people. It would be nice to get some updates on how the frame is holding up.

Is the £600 of Kashima going to make the bike better than another £600 spent on other upgrades. Good dropper post, 1 x 10 set up, a selection of tyres for different conditions etc.

How much? What temperature did they bake it at? Colour looks sweet! 😉

The only positive comment I can make on this thread is that there are a lot of hysterical old women on here that need to settle down and get back to their knitting.

2.5 minnion on a 521 feels nasty. I have a 23mm internal width rim on the front with the same tyre and it feels planted, no squirming ever.

TMBH that is what I have on the front with a nukeproof hub. I love the width but the weight is overkill for the riding I do.

Mavic suck!!! 21mm internal width is only any good for 2.1 tyres or narrower. For any decent width tyres you need wider rims.

Forget mavic rims they are naff. Even 321 or 521 are too narrow for decent width tyres. There is nothing more off putting than your tyres squirming when they should be gripping.

I have a set of 2010 elixir 5 and they have been no problem at all. I learned how to bleed them properly and they engage very early in the lever stroke except when the pads are almost worn out.

Goretex XCR breathes just fine. My shoes have it and they don’t leak and I never get sweaty feet either.

Anything rice based won’t fill you up without lots of meat to go with it. Try to include some bread to really fill you up and to provide much needed calories, if you are walking/riding all day then you need to stay well fueled to be prepared for the next day. Cheap pasta meals in a bag are good, pitta bread is good for making sandwiches and more compact than normal bread. Porridge is good but you need a lot of water to clean your pots afterwards due to how sticky it is.

Avoid caffeine after 3 pm, check any sports drinks you are using don’t contain any. Start winding down as you approach bedtime, turn the lights down so that your body knows it is night time and time to start producing melatonin.
Try taking valerian root and drinking camomile tea a couple of hours before going to bed. Stop drinking alcohol, it will help you get to sleep initially but your sleep will be poor quality leaving you feeling tired when you wake up.
If you still can’t sleep after that then go to see the doctor.

It has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of doubt that the majority of horse riders are tw*ts. We can’t let them win.
Get yer winter tyres on and anywhere you see examples of sanitised trails; get shredding! I will personally be doing a big skid all the way down roych clough leaving the landscape scarred beyond recognition.

Revelations can be set at 130mm to 150mm. I find rock shox easy to service but I haven’t owned any fox forks tbh. I have seen 2012 revs go for as little as £150 second hand.

If the fork is locked and you hit a rock the gate setting decides how much the fork will move. In the maximum setting the fork will not move at all and in the minimum setting the fork will move for big hits but will not be locked out. Set it all the way in the positive direction and then turn it a couple of times in the negative direction to give it as much blow off as you want. Mine is set to only react to a very big hit and remain locked for everything else.

Mavic are stuck in a mid 90’s XC timewarp. Anything they do that is wide enough to take over a 2.1 tyre weighs a ton. Everything else is just too narrow to run a wider tyre at low pressure without the tyre squirming all over the place at every corner. Go wide and light! 23mm internal rim width at least!

Just buy the syringes from epic bleed don’t fork out for the full kit. Can someone recommend where to get some tubing from?

Wouldn’t the super tacky just increase the drag factor? With two 60a minion dhfs on there is so much drag that I feel like I am towing a caravan.

Up for grabs I have a pair of 2010 120mm travel recon race solo air forks with 20mm maxle, motion control and rebound adjust and a 205mm 1 1/8 steerer. They are off a light bike and I rode them on the weekends only for about 8 months, no winter use, no marks on the stanchions. I replaced them with some rebas that are a lighter and more adjustable fork but the recons are just so much stiffer. I was going to stick them on here for about £80. I have a wheel with 20mm hub as well if you need a spare.
