    Only on STW.

I wasn't even aware that this particular ettiquette existed. Hardly an essential life skill is it?

A M10 bolt or stud is unlikely to be a close enough tolerance fit in your cartridge bearing to be useable. But for the sake of a fiver why not go down to B & Q, give it a go and then see why its not a good idea.

Perhaps the rambler in question was absolutely, positively convinced he was right. When he wasn't.

I'd track him down and offer a forum membership.

Triples on road bikes are like longboards in surfing.

    Only if you carry lubricant.

I've never got triples on road bikes, unless you live in Nepal

You could use a length of M10 studding with a nut and washer at each end. I'd make sure it was mild and not stainless so it adds an air ot total gashtivity.

Yes, I've had the same on some 4.1's.

Sort of a pickling of the anodizing.

I've got the new bolt up one with the aluminium bolt and insert. I love Hope but its pants. If you ask me, aluminium has no place in that application.

Having replaced the bolt with a steel one its been fine.

I don't think you have to look too hard for wheel building bargains. I've just built On One track hubs on Rigida Flyer rims (Parker International) with Sapim Race DB spokes (Spa Cycles) for £93. The cheapest factory set was at least £50 more and would probably have been poorly built.

    You are right.

They will both warm up at the same speed, however, the iced water will take longer to reach the ambient temperature as it was colder to start with.

As STATO said – Sapim spokes from Spa Cycles

I got 70 Sapim Race DB in silver inc. brass nipples for £31 delivered.

I reckon commuting on my Langster has improved my fitness way more than a geared bike. You just have to put a lot more effort in = get fitter.

I'm right with you on this one. I got so fed up with it I no longer buy any magazines.

Nowadays I just get out and ride, but I'm only doing that because I read it somewhere . . . . 😀

Worth checking you don't have water ingress and wet carpets. Lift your mats and check its dry.

A chap I know who is a marine believes that all fatties who are that way due to over indulgence should be tied to the back of a land rover and be made to run until they are thin

    OR

they fall over and the fat wears away.

A little harsh I feel, but I did laugh.

My plumber mate who's been in the business for 20 years fits Halstead as first choice. He does seem to rate WB though.

I mentioned Baxi to him recently and he came out in a rash. Then was sick.

    Hope this helps.
