I’m after suggestions that are a step removed from the obvious action of changing the sensor. From my Googling it has become apparent that many people have changed the O2 sensor based on the same fault code I have and it has not fixed the fault.

As an example, I found that a common fault on the Vectra is the EGR valve body and gasket corrodes which lets unmetered air enter the exhaust. The O2 sensor picks this up as a lean mixture and fixes at a lean output for an extended period. The ECU then assumes the O2 sensor is faulty as its stuck low and not switching when actually its working fine and showing a lean burn. I will be changing the gasket this weekend to rule it out.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm……actually I had been Googling for info for around two hours before trying the good folk here. What I found was way better than your effort as well.

    By the way FOYTW.

I find it irritating when strangers on bikes say hello to me. Go away, you are probably going to try and poke around my chocolate box.

No, they are both right hand thread. Put the flat section of the pedal spindle which screws into the crank in a vice then try undoing the nut while pulling the pedal body off the spindle at the same time. This might get the thread to pick up.

Ooooo…… Not sure about that at all.

Is there a new batch due with swap outs in other colours?

Also worth pulling the drain hose out the elevated U bend thingy and blowing back down it with a bike pump in case you have a blockage. Do this with the filter out. Might be a little rubber flap non return valve by the filter as well.

I sold two of the Beverley sisters some batteries. HP7’s at the time. Sold Bernie Winters a TV as well.

Ooooo cheers rustler, that’s just the sort of real world mashing type proof I’m after. By the by, do you ride carbon?

    Thanks guys, I think!

I must admit the two year warranty from On-One seems a bit poor compared to the ten year / lifetime warranties from all the big manufacturers.

Cullen-bay, do you think there are issues with On-One carbon frames?

I’ll probably regret posting this but re the Sky frequency, I thought the LNB down shifted the frequency to about 1 Ghz so that copper co-ax cable could cope?

Has anyone mentioned wonky IS mounts yet? I know most stuff is post mount now but facing off my mounts with the Hope tool made everything much better.

I do find those various post mount adaptors rather ugly.

Well if it was a new bare frame thats not even an hours work. £30?

    Grease IS the word.

Having finished a large tub of RG2 which was good, the local motor bike shop recommended Bel Ray waterproof grease which they now use in preference to RG2.

I was sceptical at first but having used the Bel Ray stuff for 6 months now it is better. Thicker, more tenacious and a nice blue colour. Safe on rubber as well and only £6 for a big tub.

That’s a good price for an animal ark.

Noah couldn’t do that even for cash in hand……

I’m a LTLSP (Long Term Lurker Sometime Poster) on STW and of late I am usually astounded, astonished and amazed by the people who post on here. They just can’t be real. There just can’t be so many total bell ends in the world can there?

    Oh, there is.

Yes it does seem a bit of an old boys network doesn’t it! Mind you, not many youngsters coming in to fill the gaps is there?

I’m finding this one of the most interesting threads for ages, particularly all the engineering related comments.

The IET and The Engineer magazine have been bleating on about some sort of protection for the term “engineer” but I don’t necessarily think it should be reserved for someone holding a particular degree from a particular university.

It should be reserved for a person who can actually engineer something, be that electonic, mechanical, software or whatever.

We bought a new Aygo a year ago on the scrappage scheme. So far we love it. I’m tall and so is the wife but we still go out with the kids in it. Economy wise I’d say 45+ round town on short trips. The £20 per year road tax and £145 insurance is nice as well. First service was £98.

Have you bought one yet? 🙂

Mr. Rocket is bang on. I have carbon On One forks on my Soul and 420mm steel’s on my Inbred. Both are excellent but totally different. If I had to choose, it would be the carbons.

Do you really want “real” slate?

There are lots of much cheaper man made slate (fibre cement) alternatives. Check out the Marley Thrutone man made slates and similar.

We had a re-roof last year for £4400 using the above and a Marley breathable membrane.

I think most bike shops provide a service but its a service I and many others don’t need. A bicycle is one of the few remaining, easily user servicable and repairable modes of transport out there and long may this continue.

£50 an hour for bike spannering? Thats a lot of money. Yes I appreciate all the overheads but its still a lot.

Yes, at £15 an end you just can’t lose. I’ve got the gold ones which have solid flanges not cut outs like the picture. I am convinced they are identical to the Dia Compe Grande Comp hubs but with a hollow axle and probably cheaper bearings.

Yes, but technically its a fixed/fixed as there is thread for a lockring on both sides.

The On One does seem to have more cog thread than other track hubs I have seen though.

From practical experience, I find that WI freewheels are indeed a whole lot better quality than a DX but I can still get 4 DX to 1 WI.

My point is that it costs the same to run either. But less maintenance on the WI and no (or very few indeed) bad engagements and slips. The WI makes a quite loud ratchety noise when free wheeling to. I prefer the DX in this respect as its silent.

Well you say that glenh but I cleaned mine today and all manner or gooey muck came off and I’m sure it wasn’t all deposited pad. Might be wrong though.

I stared at that for 5 minutes (through a bottle of red) and was convinced it was perfect.

    Tits.
