Shagmeister I take it you are the parent then?
You should be providing suitable armour and reflective garments for them to wear, and also cone off the areas where they are riding so no other riders hit them!

Steveo thank you for your feedback I have been contemplating what would’ve the most suitable and I certainly do like my Lycra to have reflective stickers on as it’s good to be seen on these godforsaken roads!
I have always been one for safety on my bike.

This sounds like a Challenge of pure technical mountain bike race.
Bit out of my league i suspect.

I despair at people sometimes! who ever trained-taught their kids to ride like that at that age needs to be hung drawn and quartered!

Safe riding for kids is of the upmost importance till later on i say, despicable!

a practical bike is all that is required.

i dont think im quite up to lee quarry or stainburn as of yet.
    hence the skills course.
my Ibis Mojo certainly makes the slab far more feasible.

Owned or survived? Or somewhere in between?

i battled through like a trooper and survived the mighty slab

Thank you it was such a relief to get down this in one piece and such a joy at the same time, marvelous.
i am extremely hesitant over going to Stainburn and Lee Quarry from what i have been told by my other colleagues.
Highly techinical is the term they use for these two centre’s.

I would wholeheartedly suggest a Mojo HD lovely looking machine and the handling of a mountain goat!

On the rock steps at home baked? Again not that bad a section to be fair but I see lots of people chickening out at the last moment, which leads to the accident. Get well soon to your friend.

on the Slab he broke his arm,and thank you.

Me and my trusty riding colleagues have been pondering over skills courses and think it will be an investment worthwhile, and will pay dividends for future riding excursions. So it’s a yes from our camp.

My good friend today, fractured his arm on this technical section with rocks and steepness from hell

Slightly harsh young Skywalker have some respect for your fellow comrades in this fine sport!
You are obviously a far better rider than oneself.

Well i’ll be damned, one of my colleagues ventured to try The Slab today and broke his arm 8O pure fellow.

Suffice to say it has put me off!

Any of you trying this kind of terrain think before you do it!And wear the right protection as he only had his helmet on

How would one measure the angle on an iphone?

I think those who are saying it is’nt steep aren’t being 100% honest.

    +1 MTFU

I am frankly embarrassed to be tainted by association of happening to ride an MTB with the people going “ooh it’s steeper than it looks”

you are obviously an exceptional rider then.

I do ride CYB a considerble amount, hence that is getting my skill level higher than it was,but i have been mountain biking for over 5 years now,at the age of 27 too, i may never reach that high level to achieve riding The Mighty Slab though we will see.

Gisburn is easy if you should so would wish to park at the highest point of this remarkable place.

I have’nt ventured to lee Quarry as of yet.

How hard is this trail centre?

i ride the Welsh stuff on a regular basis, however i do struggle with the rocks and technical sections, although my fitness is of a high standard.

I think that was a sterling effort from that rider in the video,

we all pushed round it in the end.

Thank you for all your advice
You all sound like experienced mountain bikers compared to one self!
I for one shall be wearing body armour and knee shin pads if I tackle this in the near future.
I have taken onboard these tips and shall practice them in due course

    MTFU what is that?

I think if i go back i will wear suitable protection for it,and maybe then i will be able to give it a real go.

i would have thought leaning right back was the way it was done.

he should be wearing suitable protection as that looks highly technical to me 8O

Hmmm if i had to ride this extreme course i would want a downhill bike what is capable of the duty at hand.i would be very careful trying it on anything other than that!
as its a world cup course! hence the need for full on amour,
