+1 for the estate… My 335d F31 touring is great with the bikes. If your going for brand new tick the option for the electric folding towbar, pair this with a thule towbar mounted rack and you have yourself a really comfortable bike hauling vehicle…. Can’t fault mine.

Lidl or Aldi bluetooth straps work as well as anything else i’ve tried and cost £15!!! mine has been in the washing machine by accident too many times to count and still works just fine!

Thanks for all of your suggestions guys! Will give them all a buzz and see if they have any vacancies for that period. Keep the suggestions coming in thoough as somewhere nearer Cwmcarm might be better!

    Hello Mate,

I Bought some NY Knicks tickets from their website recently, they were spot on. Might be worth a call to ensure that it’s genuinely linked to the real stub hub on this number 0800 3588585.

Slowrider, I’ve never had an incident where the “guillotine” effect has come into play.. more of a threat is the return of my dropper post smacking me in the knackers. The linkages are very low profile and the way they move under compression means anything entering their path is unlikely to get trapped unless they were very small… In which case it’ll lop ’em clean off to prevent you passing on this genetic deficiency to possible offspring.

Yes the prices are a bit steep I guess you could get a ten speed clutch setup for about the same money. Did you look on the syntace website or at a uk supplier for those parts? Quality piece of kit, I love mine…

Found this vid on MTB.de which just about sums up the Liteville for me.

Want to try out a 901 but not sure what i’d use it for.

Waswas are you running a narrow wide ring of some description? I have the Syntace chain guide on my 2*10 and it works a treat (although I do have a clutch mech) Looks nice and integrated too. Can also recommend the syntace mech protector for extra peace of mind. Are you running the back end at 140mmm?

Tough as old boots, no noticeable weight gain and a nice wide tyre bed… Consider it a win!!!

Is it for short circuit cx racing, commuting or just trail riding?

If you’re looking for a three peaks tyre then +1 for the Landcruisers, almost indestructible and dirt cheap think mine were a tenner each, roll pretty fast on the road too. Not a proper competition CX tyre but the only choice for the three peaks.

Think poison spider has a point! It’s all subjective I suppose. I think the brief was >£4.5K purchase price.

One mans superbike is another mans waste of 4.5k!

Was going old Skool 26r! No problem with you sounding like a mag article hamish, thanks for the input, there’s not too many owners around the uk so any input is valuable! I’m a bit fascinated with what makes a bike fit, it’s lead me to plot a few more different frames see how they size up. I’ll give evolution a call tomorrow! Thanks again guys for the input! One thing I’ve discovered today is that I’m taller than I thought and bike geometry is fascinating!

THanks for the info guys… I just measured myself and I seem to have grown an inch (fnarr fnarr etc etc!)… So I ive spent some time modelling the frames I’ve overlaid the Large and the medium on top of a model of my S-works epic and the reach on the large is less than the epic, the stack height to bb is approx. 13mm shorter… maths says it should fit quite well. Have a 25mm offset seat post on the spesh and a 70mm stem as well so taking all of that into account I think the maths works.

Andrey is the Mk 8 a little bit more compact than the current mk 10/11 then?

Guess the only real proof of the pudding is in the tasting! Can’t believe I’m sad enough to spend four hours measuring points off bikes to model them in solidworks… I should probably ride bikes more then I might be able to manual better 🙂

    Thanks Hamish,

I’m 5’9″ with pretty much the same inside leg as you, would be running a 50mm stem with a swept bar so think it should be just about right, Running a 70mm stem on my epic with almost the same reach so I’m thinking I should be okay as the chainstay to BB measurements are much shorter despite the longer wheelbase. I too am crap at manuals!

Amedias is right, my Easton is 39mm face to face… so not as short as I thought… Hope XC measures up about the same.

You’re right not many people list the stack height, I had the same problem when using forks form an internal headset frame in a frame with a longer head tube and external cups… steerer was just that bit too short. Got aoround it in the end but every mm of stack height became critical!

My Easton haven stem has a pretty low stack height. From experience the nicely machined (think Hope, Easton and Thompson)ones have lower stack height.

Easton Haven is really nice, I can measure stack if you like?

My name is in the hat too, was my first time last year…. It couldn’t be any worse than last year could it? 🙂

I need to do more specific training this year, by the halfway point last year my thighs had become solid masses of uselessness resulting in me blowing over at the slightest gust of wind… Still finished with a merit though.

Anyone got any training tips to avoid the front of thigh cramps?

Well I did a loop of the lime burner starting from the blue link from bcp. Was pretty dry for most of the loop, although a word of warning to anyone venturing there in the evening, it gets dark in the woods a lot earlier than in the open so go prepped with lights! Some mud still to be found in the bigger puddle holes. Not bad for fitness purposes and the dark makes some of the features trickier as riding lumps blind can be interesting… Beast was probably my favourite section, not sure if it would give the same thrills in the light though. Didn’t see anyone else out, did see lots of deer though.

Hmmmm, I was fearful this might be the case! Is there anything better close by? Live in Norwich during the week and need to make the most of being able to get out but the trails are a little uninspiring! Might be better off bringing my cross bike with me next time!

    Cheers for the feedback!

really, I was sure my landcruisers mounted up nice and tight on my rims. They were the wire bead ones. Nce thing about a tubed setup is the ease of puncture repair… just swap the tube no sticky jizz on your hands when you get to work!

I ran mine tubeless for a few races last year. The front was fine with no issues until the end of summer this year (tyre rolled off rim due to low pressure) the back one lasted 3 weeks of training and half a race. I think tyre and rim combo seems to be the main factor as to how well they work. The low volume of CX tyres means that if they burp you loose an almost catastrophic amount of air!

I reckon for commuting some landcruisers pumped up to 60psi should be spot on, those things are indestrucatable and probably not bad for a tuebless setup given their rigidity.

I’m in to… will be racing my boardman pro cx. UCI compliant and meets the tree peaks rules… Discs will be a blessing on those decents!

So who’s gonna shar their training plans!?!?

I plan to carry on as i am, Running 10k most days then commuting the 50mile round trip to work (on my cross bike of course!) at least once a week and then getting out on a wednesday night for 30 miles of cross country ( on my full susser)…

Still don’t think i’m gonna be fit enough and i’m scared!

I got my application in as soon as it opened… 1st time for me so i have my fingers crossed i get selected!

Are any of you guys members of cycling clubs, my friend (who has raced it three times now) thinks that gives you a better chance of selection.

Ha ha pete what’s the beef dude? We’ll be fine!

Yeah hammers pads and driveline as the sand is a bit sharp but other than that it’s fine in the wet! As for the braking bumps, not much use if your taking your road bike on carbon tubs around there (or your barbie bike with stabilisers and pink basket) but i’m planning on taking my mountain bike yer great jessie! 😀
