I’m leaning to petrol as well. We don’t do the milage to warrant a diesel engine really.

We had the DPF recharged at last christmas – which I never new existed.

Thinking back it’s a nice car to drive, very easy to park in the village – but it’s been a bit of a pain on maintenance unlike the 1.8 petrol Zetec it replaced.

rwamartin – Thanks for that link. I’ll check it out.

As far as I know the mechanic who my brother knows well and uses did the work correctly.

In this case the bearings in the turbo collapsed it wasn’t down to oil starvation as they weren’t dry.

On my ride home this evening EVERY cyclist stayed well away from the lorry wait at the pelican crossing next to the fire station on Old St.

Not one out of about 20+ riders tried to squeeze down between stopped the bus and lorry.

It was quite surreal and reassuring at the same time.

    Long may it last.

Dodgy bearings going by what the mechanic said.

    Molgrips:

We’re in London but the car is up in Rochdale as the turbo popped en route. Not much fun going 50 mph in the middle lane with a truck up your jacksie flashing you.

The mechanic who fitted it has taken it apart and checked it out. Oil is fine and all the pipes are clean. The bearings collapsed there was oil in them to it wasn’t a feed problem.

As soon as it’s done, I’ll chop in.

My wife and I both like the focus so might get a newer one. Do they have better engines?

Jnr still keeping you awake at night?

He’s actually starting to sleep through, so pretty happy on that front.

But my capacity to tolerate bellendry seems to have diminished considerably – not sure if this is baby or age related.

So hang on – you have bought an expensive, super bright light…..
and then point it down so as not to blind people?

Yes I point it down not to blind cyclists behind me out of coutesy more than anything else. It also creates a big pool of red light behind me and reflects of my mud guard.

I don’t see what your problem is, if you’re happy with your sh*tty little lights so be it, let people ‘waste’ their money on what they see fit. I’m sure you could find another thread to troll if you’re that bored.

It’s very bright, I have mine facing down so not to dazzle other cyclists.

    Shit, very bad news.

Condolences to all Families and Friends of the cyclists involved.

There is a quicker way to find out 5mm allen key should do it.

Don’t have them yet, but that’s my plan whence I get them.

Sorry didn’t explain myself as usual.

I’be just bought some RX’s off the classifieds and they come with !80mm mounts.

The bike they’re going on currently has Exlirs on with 160mm discs, So I was wondering if I could just ‘pop’ the calipers on the existing mounts.

Shit, I was at Southampton Row just after it happened and saw him being the being attended to. It was reported to be a woman on LFGSS.

As for the Mile one – horrible, another careless c*nt driving a tipper lorry. Ban the f*cking things.

Is the coach/bus one definitly a fatality?

Is this the one on Southampton Row/New Oxford St.

I really hope not, I was going past as she was being attended to. Someone on Twitter reported it as a fatality but on FGSS it said she was taken to hospital.

    I feel a bit sick – F***

    I’m using a Exposure Flash.

It does both at the same time.

Thinking of getting one for my helmet as well.

I got a Sanderson Soloist to replace my Kona Explosif.

    Very similar geo/feel to it.

    You selling the Klein?

There’s 2 types of fixie riders.

The ‘hang out in London Fields on the weekend and pull wheelies at the weekend types’ and the proper ‘elegant as f*** technique’ types. It’s easy to tell which is which.

Saying this I saw a ‘3rd type’ which I’ll call NinjaFix. He was a very long levered black guy on a stealth black track bike with a full skinsuit and a carbon full face helmet. But I think he is an anomaly.

10.someting miles each way 5 days a week, from E10 to W8. Right through town.

It’s easy, just got to assume ‘they’re all out to kill you’ and you’ll be fine.

I know you’re asking about which Hope brakes but have you considered Formulas?

I put a set of The Ones on my Mojo replacing the M4’s that were on there already and the difference is huge.

They’re lighter and have more power.

BTW I have loads of Hope stuff and like it but for brakes I’d go Formula for the above reasons.

I’m liking my SwissStops for commuting, much better than Dura Ace.

Worth the extra in my opinion.

On my commuter/road bike SwissStop work much better than the Shimano Dura Ace pads they replaced.

    Well worth the money.

I found using a cream cleaner and scourer on the braking surface of the rims pretty good as well.

Do a 100 miles on a turbo, now that would be impressive. 8)

You could get your mates round to watch therefore not needing to brag as they’d have seen you do it.

I got an email saying ‘you’re not getting a sample’ but you’re welcome to buy some.

It took weeks as Magura didn’t have any bushing so Mike couldn’t get hold of the new ones that use grease instead of oil.

My forks also needed a new RCL unit as it was leaking air. Again Magura weren’t very helpful with supplying the units, but Mike did everything he could to get hold of some.

All the issues were down to Magura’s stock levels and not Racemechanics service. As soon as the parts came in they forks were turned around within days and returned. As compensation I got the RCL unit for free which was about £120.

I really can’t fault the service at Racemechanic, I’d give him a call and have a chat as he’s really helpful.

If you haven’t already that is.

Did you speak to Mike a at racemechanic[/url]?

He sorted mine out and should be able to help you get spares etc.

As far as I know they’re the only ones who service Magura in the UK.

Also, as already said, drivers are paid a bonus, which attracts a certain type of driver.

    ^^^This^^^

I’ve seen a far higher percentage of tipper drivers ‘ discreetly texting/talking calls when at lights/moving off than I have of most other commercial vehicles.

I stay well away from them because all they see is their bonuses as there job is to get from A to B as quickly as possible.

If you rode in London daily you’d know what I mean.

What is it about tipper trucks that makes them more dangerous than other HGVs?

When I turn up somewhere with my Mojo I do feel a little self conscious for the exact reasons above, even though it’s 5 years old and I bought it secondhand.

BTW it goes on the top of a Focus, I firmly believe the bike should be worth more than the car.

I’d love to but I’m working in Kensington so don’t get back until 7.00ish then by the time I’d get sorted and get over to the forest it’d be about 8.30, is that too late?
