2 of my borthers and my sister have all got various iterations of the Galaxy and they love it.

My wife, younger brother and I all have iPhones and we love them.

Basically it comes down to a question how much you want to spend on a phone. The whole Apple vs. Android debate is much like the ‘ do helmets work’ and are ‘fixie riders hipster idiots’ threads.

On the matter of resale, when I got my iPhone 4 I sold my 3 on ebay and got 175 for it.

I was 3 and those are my only memories of my Grandparents houses I returned 30 years later, but only one of the houses where there and none of the grandparents.

I’m always a bit jealous of people having access to their Grandmas, I never really knew either of mine and I feel I missed out.

Lucky buggers the lot of you.

Audio hijack is really good but it’s Mac only.

There’s a free version and a paid one.

MsD has a Spesh Myka FSR that she got from LL in the sales for £650. It’s actually a nice bike to ride although the fork is too harsh for her, so we’re going to swap it for an air-sprung

MD: was that recently? just had a look and couldn’t see it.

Jon B: Mrs eye is 5’6″ so your contessa wil be too small, unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for the comments keep them coming, we’ll visit a few shops and get her sitting on some bikes. If your got one to sell my email is in my profile.

We’ve Got about the price of a Pashley Lady Sov to spend
does that mean you’re selling a pashley princess(?) sovereign ?

my missus wants one of them…. size/condition/pics, how much do you want?

    Dave

We’re not selling, She really wanted one as well so I took the price of a new one as a benchmark. They’re about £650 new.

Leyton, Leytonstow, Walthamstow, Wanstead all an easy commute to Victoria about 10ish miles each way.

Walthamstow is on the Victoria line so for non bike days it’s perfect. The A406/M25/A10/A1 are all easily accessible for trips up North.

You’ve got Epping on your doorstep so lots of singletrack and forest there’s to play in. Plus Thetford and Aston Hill aren’t too far either.

It’s works fine, we do the same.

The only thing is you won’t get Channel 5 – which in my book is not great loss. But I think you can pay Sky a one-off £20 payment to get it.

Could you expand a little on that statement

If convinced, I’ll sell my stem, qtr, seat clamp, wheels?

And if I do can anyone recommend a brand that’s more exclusive – I don’t want to come across as cheap and nasty now

Hate to break this to you PP, but iTunes sync is just as terrible on Mac OSX and it is on windows

But as Graham says, iOS 5 does away with a lot of sync related issues (although you still need to use it to transfer photos etc, which is a massive pita).

You can always mail pictures to yourself, then you won’t ever have to connect it to a pc. Or Simply upload to flickr or MobileMe iCLoud or whatever.

Sorry to butt in but has anyone had experience GF3, I’m almost ready to buy the kit plus and 20mm pancake.

The Nikon looks good but the GF3s the mirrorless to beat at the moment.

Not sure if you can buy them at the moment as Apple and Samsung are having the biggest geek fight ever and Apple has slapped an injunction on the Galaxy range.

Do you have a urge to control everything?

Not everything, but if it stops someone becoming jam under a trucks wheel, is it not worth it?

Do they still run Cycles proficiency courses? You can’t ride a scooter without a CBT and there needs to be some equivalent for new cyclists. There are too many ghost bikes in London as it is.

I’m not knocking the increase in cyclists, it’s fantastic way to get around but if you’re going to commute you need to learn how to ride in traffic.

Thanks for the offer of the dog, I could use our spaniel but she’d just chew the bag then give the contents a good lick.

8kg includes the bag which just weighs over 1 kg on it’s own, it has a 33ltr capacity and I do fill it on occasion.

The wieght doesn’t bother me, it’s just the stability. I work freelance so in average my commute is 15-20 per day.

The carradice looks like a good option.

I ride an 99 Kona Kapu which has no mounting hardware for racks and panniers. The LBS said the clip on ones are rubbish, so I thought a bag would be best.

    Ok sound advice,

Thing is I don’t want to fork out for a new drivetrain, just thought I could use my existing cranks and mechs.

If I go 2×9 what do I do, just lose a ring of the front?

10 speeds not an option at the moment as I’ve not got enough to buy a new drive train.

Can someone please explain to me why 1.25″ to 1.5″ is better than just having 1.5″ to 1.5″?

because Mr Giant said so; “Ours is not to question why but to go and buy”

    eyerideit

FFS…Was there ever a problem with standard 1.1/8″?!

I’ll think you’ll find it was far too standard, everybody used it and there was nothing new.

How can you possibly say anything about something so standard and universally accepted.

Personally I’m waiting for the next version as it will be much better, stiffer whilst being lighter and inspiring much more confidence due to it’s newness.
