My mate who owns a 514 zesty as well, he loves it.

I’ve ridden it and it is pretty good. They climb really well also – if you like that type of thing.

I’ve got the original Renassiance triple mix on CD. It dropped in price as soon as they released the remastered version a few years ago (with different tracks due to licensing in a few places).
I don’t think the whole mix is as good as people say it is. Some great moments for sure, but very much of the time.

I love prog house from mid 90s though.

    I didn’t know they’d released it again.

I listened to Sasha’s Involver today and it got me revved up, I’ll have to dig out my renaissance CDs and them an airing.

I’m also for Leftfield – leftism. Listened to it the other day and have to say it is still brilliant.

Going to have to read the whole thread and make a list as there’s lots of interesting recs listed.

TBH – most people will only ever use 2 or 3 sizes

maybe better buying separates as and when?

That’s just like having 2 encyclopaedias on a shelf – not very impressive, but an whole set!

Why just have a couple when you can have a load of shiny in a box with a home for every bit.

I got that set and a set of spanners as well, I’m planning to dismantle the car just because I can.

love the middle all mountain one, I’ve always wondered why nobody makes something like that, your head is a very valuable part of your body, people will drop loads of cash on bling bike parts but when it comes to purchasing a helmet anything over 70 quid is a bit pricey. if i could try one of the above on and the fit was good it buy it no second thoughts. I’ve had helmets save me many many times over the years.

The middle ones also floating my boat and if it was £199 I’d happily buy it, but £299 is a bit too steep.

They’re the new bike range – I’ve been a fan of their lids for years and thought about buying a trooper to ride in. But it’s a bit pricey – why is it so pricey?

    Nice though helmet pron!

And obviously we’ve all done at least one magic poo. You strained, you felt it come out but when you stood up it was nowhere to be seen. All that remained was a faint wiff of poo and maybe a light stain on the u-bend.

We calls them ghost poos and when there’s no trace on the paper – they’re called ghost angels.

The ones that lurk around the u bend are Congas

    BTW what’s a dangerfart is it a Whinnet/Cling on?

I had quite a satisfying one this morning.

My best ever was on an airplane, it was HUGE and was like a big brown python sitting happily in the bowl.

My uncle was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack.

All the tests came back clear but he was still having the pain. Eventually it was found he had an infection of the parietal pericardium (the bag/sack that the heart sits in). Simular to Pleurisy.

He had quite a bad cold which seems to have passed the infection on. He’s ok now, but still has to take it easy.

Were you influenced by Guy Garvey, Cy?

Edit – and Hijack – I’ve just had my Mk1 Soul powdercoated in Matt Black and it’s officially the best looking bike ever. But as I’m now dodging all the mud and puddles it’s totally ruined the riding experience.

Picture? you’ve got to come up with the proof, we can’t just take your word for it now, can we?

Seriously, those slagging them laptops off probably haven’t used them. a nice cool lightweight one (you probably all have rubbish MBPs like eyeridetit)
    FTFY

My MMP is a beast of a workhorse not one of these silly laptop things – it has a very stable system that is secure – I don’t need virus software – it doesn’t clunk – it hums. Yes it does get hot but when you’ve got GNARRR you break a sweat don’t you.

I’ve got one, had it for just over 2 months. Not impressed.

Few things that are annoying, lack of flash, you don’t realise how many sites you want to look at use it.

Sorry to inform you but FLASH IS DEAD, Steve was right. I’ve had my iPad for 12 months and not missed it – it’s a bag of shite like most Adobe software. I’m speaking form experience because I use it every day. I’ve forked out £1000’s for software that crashes a lot – especially Illustrator – GRRRR IT MAKES ME MAD.

the author would rather see the kids rot in care than have them placed with white parents.
i dont think that is entirely true

Ok, it’s an over simplification – but if there’s no prospective black parents where are the kids to go? Could the care system ever match being brought up in a family?

My head hurts, I have read the link twice now and still missing the point, can someone explain in simple terms, sorry, me being not the brightest spark about, what is the link with gollywogs and adoption?

Did not mean to offend anyone, with my first post btw, but genuinely a bit confused with this whole article?

In a nutshell: He says only black people can adopt black/mixed race kids. If there aren’t any black parents available the author would rather see the kids rot in care than have them placed with white parents.

Maybe then you should be telling each one of those children that they aren’t allowed a mummy and daddy unless they have the same skin colour, while you’re at it how about outlawing interracial marriage, those poor children growing up with a white parent. Most foster carers are white, are you going to insist that non-white children are placed in foster homes or care homes solely made of black carers? Unlike you I don’t want segregation of different races, unlike you I also want children in care to go on to find families who love them, not families with similar ancestry.

When I was in care the problem of non-white children remaining in care for a long time was a problem and that is a fairly long time ago, I was allowed access to my parents and so the prospect of adoption was never available to me, in all my time I never saw a non-white child be put forward for adoption, of the five I remained in contact with after leaving three killed themselves and two are in prison.

My partner was a social worker until he became physically disabled, he never had a non-white charge who went on to find a family, because of pathetic rules those children were essentially guaranteed to live a life without family, to be self sufficient from 18 and were almost guaranteed to go to prison. Many non-white children in the UK currently would have better future prospects if they were left with abusive parents, I hope you’re happy to be a public supporter of something so vile.

    Good comment from the article.

So there’s not enough black couples fostering/adopting.

How much exposure do these kids have to their own culture in the care system? Going off the few lines of experiences the growing up in care is pretty rubbish as well.

    So what’s the answer?

You’re damned either way and the kids grow up confused, angry or emotionally scared.

Whilst on the subject of Halfords advanced professional stuff, their 150 piece socket set is down to £100 from £200 today.

That’s the one I got and that was last month – My brother bought that set last Jan for the same price.

It’s a Bargain, also got the ratcheting spanners that are halpf price as well and from the pro range.

    Proper powertools:
    Bosch blue, Makita, Hitachi

I use all the above brands in my work, they all get a hard life and all do pretty well, but all wear out/break between 1 to 5 years.

Hilti on the otherhand will last a lifetime.

Speaking in terms of DIY rather than a proper tradesmen – They’ll probably last me a lifetime as I’m coming to the end of our renovation and I’m guessing it’ll be a good few years until the next one.

+1 for the Halfords Pro socket sets and spanners bout a set recently – nice, solid tools.

I’ve got an iPad2 and I type holding it, using the traditional poking the screen with one finger method.
Ah – so it’s a lot more awkward than typing on my laptop, and you can’t type with one hand whilst drinking a glass of wine with the other.

Not really I drink wine from my camelbak, as it keeps the red at perfect temperature and I don’t have to get up for a refill.
