I have this shop saved in my Ebay watch list from last time this came up. Haven’t got around to trying it yet myself though.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOUNTAIN-BIKE-MTB-BMX-OFF-ROAD-CLEANER-1×25-Lt-Buy-1-Get-1-Free-/330708632679?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Other_Vehicle_Parts_Accessories_ET&hash=item4cffc54467

That stuff comes with free delivery from here

Might buy smaller one first though just to see how it works.

To throw another spanne in the mix Panasonic have released the gf5, which is the same specs as the gx1 but with less mps and a better rear screen.

There’s lots images for comparison on this site[/url]

I’m going to swap out the 34 for a 36 or 37 to get rid of that big drop in gear.
Don’t know what chainset you have or are thinking about, but in my case I’ve just read that Shimano don’t do a 36T ring in 110mmBCD.

    FSA do some

I’ve got 105’s triple, I’ll be happy to swap

What you really need is a triple. Lots of big gears, enough in the middle and plenty of tiny ones to winch you up the steepest climbs.

    What? What did I say?

I’ll get a triple when I’m 60, but until then a double will do me just fine.

Cheers Ianpv, I was thinking the same of getting rid of the 34 for a 36.

The reason I’m changing is that the current cranks are bit of an antique – same as the ones below. The rings are getting to the point of being worn out so I bought some 105 with an external BB from the forum, I neglected to check if they were standard or compact . So I’ve got them now and I thought I’d givem them a go.

I’m running at 11-23 cassette and my most comfortable gear is 53 – 17. So my thinking is with a compact I’ll ride more on the smaller cogs and have more in reserve. Until I fit it and do some rides I won’t really know.

The power zoom model is about £100 more than the standard 14-42. Personally I’d rather put that money towards a 20mm pancake for a truly compact camera.

All the reviews are saying the GX1 is the true successor to the GF1 which was highly rated.

I’ve been to camera world and tried both the gf3 and gx1, they are both good but the gx1 is the better of the 2.

    What’s your budget?

Ricoh GRD iv and Panasonic GX1 are currently top of my list.

Both a quite high end though with lots of manual features etc.

Good Shout about Decathlon, I forgot they existed.

I left her looking at the Minx Girl and Corinne Dennis this morning, so she have bought something.

MC: I’m with you on buying quality kit. I’ve had a Gore windstopper mid layer since 2004. It’s seen a lot miles, it’s quite worn but shows no sign of giving up yet.

Again, thanks all for your posts.

Thanks for the replies, Mrs Eyes doing a bit of looking today.

CG – She’s just getting into riding so it’s just a case of buying some basics, then if she enjoys it she can get some more seasonal stuff. But I’m not sure if she’ll ever go for a ride in the depths of winter. But saying that you never know.

Oh, and a basket. Needs a basket. With flowers.

    Lucky lass!

How about kittens for the basket?

and don’t forget the chain guard, your ladies ankles need to be free from stops of oil and other chain related grubbiness.

I’ve been stopped at logging in for most of the day.

Very annoying, I gave up and bought my goods elsewhere.

    Not sure what’s going on.

    BTW I’m using Safari

Good video, he’s certainly got bike skills.

Lucky bugger he gets to ride bikes all day, everyday apart from when he doesn’t want to.

Bet I’m faster than him at using Indesign that is.

I’ve got a friend who lives in Acton. I’ll see if she passes that way and if she can take a pic of the buidlers van.

^^that park tool above is £120, that’s quite a lot for something that gets used infrequently ^^^^

Not sure about cutting a slot in a cane creek as its got a rubber seal on it as well.

Some good tips though, thanks. 🙂

The hope headset I fitted did have a spilt which was great but the Cane creek one I have don’t.

I got it off but they’ve got a rubber skirt around them which made it difficult.

I’ve heard a rumour of a voice activated braking system in development.

All you have to do is say “Whoaa boy Whoaa” and by the pitch of your voice it knows how much to brake.
