GodSpeedYouBlackEmperor’s Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! was just a bit self indulgent for me.

Not heard any of the earlier stuff.

I’ll check out God is an Astronaut and Explosions in the Sky next month as I’ve blown this months budget on Sigur Ros and their offshoots.

I got a this Bosch saw for about £100 and use a clamping rail or a spirit level and clamps as mentioned above.

Oh, ps, thinking about Sigur Ros made me do what it always does, ie, go and listen to Mogwai. When you get tired of all that foreign stuff, if you haven’t already, go and listen to New Paths To Helicon (but not part 2) Ideally on an inter city train.

The ladies at work made me turn off Mogwai this morning as it was ‘too depressing’ but they happily sat through Hvarf yesterday.

    What does that say?

Everyone on 160mm FS and we hit the BMX track? Sounds like a plan!

Screw that I’m going straight for the 200mm downhill rig, 850mm bars.

That way I’ll get so much ‘spec for pinnin’ everything on my first run.

We should have a London Gnar fest/mice/STW meet up that will rival the Peak Pootle once it’s open.

    Is the Lordship Park pumptrack/course/run

As far as I know it is and apparently there’s some shore/jumps as well in Tottenham.

The North Wallystow one is still in use as well. But they’re designed for Bmx so on a MB it’s quite hard to get the bike going.

What would you have done had it been them who made the cockup

The exact same thing I did, which is the right thing.

It’s been sorted, I called them last week and have the top I ordered with the one sent by mistake on it’s way back to them.

I started this post because the situation I found myself in and the questions I asked of myself interesting and just wanted to know what other forum members would do.

Check out Amiina as well, essentially the SR string section on their own

    Which album do you recommend?

We stayed at a Rude Chalet place, it’s a 15min ride out of Morzine.

Very nice though, but the hot tub wasn’t fired up.

The other interesting question is what would you have done if you had wanted what you’d been sent by mistake?

    An equally interesting question!

    Edit:

I’d like to think I’d have done what I have. But since it never happened, we’ll never know.

Stop mid ride to check his brakes to see if they’re dragging?

Rip the p1ss out of him if he’s a good mate.

    Ride off and leave him.

Possibly going to Chatel, maybe for PPDS / to visit friends who moved there. (will be taking/hiring a bike).

Also St Sebastian is on the cards, again to visit friends and it would be rude no to take a bike and ride some of them lumps they got there.

Excuse me, I posted a bike appropriate for pootling at this time of year, no St Albans based hedge fund manager worth his salt will be riding his SUMMER Pinarello right now.

    I stand corrected.

    As the yoofz say; SOZ

Ribble had their Alloy winter trainer bike for £575 this week.

They’re meant to be very good for the price.

BTW Hatter, you can’t pootle on that it’s not got Di2, can’t be faffing around with manual gears at 8mph.

Simply wear your helmet and any body armour you have to bed. When she asks why point out that you are now safer so therefore it is better.

I do! only when it’s Business Time.

    Better safe than sorry eh?

Thanks DD. Looks like our familyfix’s will be appearing in the classifieds soon!

Crankboy, it s true what you say but convincing Mrs Eye is a different kettle of fish, to her it doesn’t matter how small the percentages are, it’s safer so it’s better.

    That’s the end of it.

All the cheaper ones don’t really go low enough to torque up bicycle parts.

A torque screwdriver might be a better option. Here’s a Draper that r might be worth a look.

A bike sepcific one from Giant, 2-14nm.

    Edit 2-24 Nm

It’s not for me to decide Rocketman, Mrs Eye is in charge of all baby based decision. I merely act as research and procurement.

Maybe it’s because of my *Dad overtakes* she wants a rear facing seat. 8O

Graham, DVD’s???? It’s all on iPad these days.

    Oh what an arse…

Our sentiments exactly. We went down the FamilyFix route as well DD and have the exact issues as you do.

The only difference I can see to the FF and FF2way is the foot rest thing as a the Pebble is the same for both bases.

Not having tried a2way seat in our FFbase I don’t know if the bigger one will work. I might pop along to Kiddicare and see if it fits.

What seat do you have Ben?

does the safety benefit outweigh the boredom factor of staring at a headrest/seat.

We’ve got a mirror on the headrest so he can keep an eye on us and most of our long drives are done at night so he’s usually asleep so staring at a headrest isn’t an issue.

Oh, and the new seat is high enough for the wee man to look through the side window.

His Maxi Cosi is on a Isofix base so he’s much higher and can see out at the moment, plus we have an estate so there’s more to see out of. And the dog usually travels next to him (belted in) so he can always start at her which he loves doing anyway.

Out East there’s MBRO35 who ride from High Beech, Epping on both Saturdays and Sundays. They’re a bunch of MTBers turned Roadie and aren’t a proper subs paying club. Just a load of people who like riding bikes and eating/drinking. Just join their FB page and introduce yourself.

The road rides aren’t particularly taxing and there’s always a nice cake/food stop halfway. Sunday rides are usually slower and longer. You get to see a lot of Essex which is nice.

Or there’s Lea Valley CC or Cycle Club Hackney which are more formal clubs.
