Endura Flyte for me – very waterproof but very hot as well as there’s no vents.

Perfect when it’s below 5º with just a baselayer but any warmer than that it get a bit too much for me anyway.

As long as the mud isn’t stopping my wheels turning I’ll be happy.

Except the the app still doesn’t recognise your full digital subscription yet…

You need to go into your premier account section and click the share details with pocket mags tab. Then you’ll be contacted when the account’s set up so you can download through iTunes.

You can use Good Reader or Bookman as well.

Just log in to your account through the inbuilt browser then pick which one you want.

Getinyourbike, Nant-Y-Arian sounds good but we’re coming from Abersoch so it’s just that bit too far.

I’m lending my friend my FS so I’ll be on my rigid SS which will be interesting through the rock gardens at Brenin.

I’m up for Penmachno but I don’t think he’s too keen as 30k is
a bit long for and he’s not been riding much.

For your budget the double bevel evolution will be spot on.

As a Diy-er it’s not like you’ll be using it anywhere near as much as a chippy. I did all the skirts in our Victorian terrace (3 bedrooms, hallways, bathroom, kitchen diner and through lounge) plus all the architraves, shelves in the alcoves with mine.

It’s done quite a bit outside as well, building raised beds, fitting guttering and drain pipes, cutting up scrap wood and metal etc all with the same blade.

I’m planning on doing decking next summer as well and I know it’ll be up to that as well. I did look at more recognised brands but for the budget the evolution was the one for me.

I did all the skirts and architraves in our Victorian terrace. The house had to be gutted but we decided to match what was taken out. So like you I needed a larger sliding saw I went for one of these. It’s not got the double bevel you want but I managed to do the whole house and like you I’m just a DIY-er.

The cuts were clean and straight, the blade can go through different material so it’s quite versatile. For the price it did what I needed well.

I found that the bevel wasn’t all that handy as hardly any of the corners were right angles. I’d have to use a plane to open up the angle greater than 45 degrees.

A massive thank you to Donk and Junkyard for letting me join you on the ride yesterday.

I’d like to ride Rivi again, the climbs were testing and the downs were great.

Hopefully next time my forks will hold air. Funnily enough I pumped them up this morning with my track pump/shock adapter and they seem to be holding air.

JY let me know if your pumps ok.

Looking forward to another ride with you both.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both.

    🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Donk, is the afternoon enough time to get around Rivi?

Phil let me know if you’ve got permission as first thing would be better for me as well.

They’re horrible, those skinny tyres and big gearing make you go so fast you forget everything and just zone out.

Pretty soon you’ll catch yourself not wanting to carry a bag and stuffing everything you need into your pockets.

You might not even stop for cake and prefer to eat riding along.

    DON’T DO IT!

    Hope that helps.

It was the accident in Southampton. The man who died was one of a triplet, his sister, my friend has lost someone who was so unbelievably close to her.

It’s just all terribly sad and that’s compounded by the fact it’s so near Christmas.
I’m upset for the family but I’m also angry as it could have been so easily avoided. I just think the drivers involved will get away it receiving a paltry fine, as with most of these cases.

    That’s pretty/very/extremely good.
    Have you ever read Cycling Weekly – it’s just a Tester’s W*** mag…..

You’d have to pay me £67 per issue to read it. And provide latex gloves to pick it up with, god know whose had it before you…..

I’ve never read the mag so I’ll take your word on the content. I was referring to the light set for £67, but it turns out it will cost £132. So if you like the mag it’s a good deal.

Anyway FWIW I use a Joystick up front and a Blackburn Mars on the rear, it’s not rechargeable, but’s it’s built really well and the batteries last about 1.5 commuting seasons.

I wouldn’t touch a crapberry, the choice of apps is minuscule compared to an iPhone or Android phone.

The battery is better because the screen is smaller, it’s a bit of a dated/dying platform.

You can pick them up cheap for a reason.

Not exactly what you wanted but the Atera GIRO AF holds the downtube in soft jaws s there’s no risk of scrapes ans scratches.

    Much cheaper than Thule

Do you listen to music when riding?

Really? I can see your point of music being a motivator but with if you live anywhere with where there’s traffic. I wouldn’t recommend it.

How about getting a cheap cycle computer with a cadence sensor and trying spinning? It’ll get you fit and see yourself being able to hold a tempo for longer distances is a great feeling.

The spotting thing is good as well, or you can just try and attack every hill you ride up.

    The tyres are for

I’ve got mud x’s on the 717’s at the moment which are great for the conditions in Epping forest but I think they’d be a liability for trail centre stuff as we’re off to the North where I’ll Hopefully get to ride at CyB, ByC and Lee Quarry over Christmas.

So as an experiment I was going to go PHAT, phat like a pair of 2.4 NoNi,’s. but I had visions of the tyre popping off the rim so I changed my mind and opted for 2.35 high Rollers. Again doubt crept in and after much sweating over rubber, I have ordered a pair of OnOne Smorgasbord’s which are 2.25. They’re only a ‘little’ over the recommended width and will hopefully give me more side grip and suspension that I ‘think’ will benefit me.

Thanks as always for the advice.

8 is the recommended age at my local wall – there’s kids clubs on Saturdays.

Any younger than that and they tend to lose interest quite quickly.

But I think 5+ are allowed as long as they are closely supervised.

Then how are JURY’s being put together and being allowed to pass non guilty verdicts with supporting evidence to the contrary?

Isn’t down to the CPS or whoever selects the jury,, which isn’t the Police.

You can’t blame this one on the Met.

I just read that on roadCC.

Sad, all this bollock about changing attitudes and you clear anyone who kills/injures a cyclist.

He had tinted windows FFS .

    From RoadCC:

The verdict has been returned on the same day that the lorry driver in the Mary Bowers case was found not guilty of dangerous driving, but guilty of careless driving, in connection with the incident last November that left the Times journalist with life-changing injuries.

Drivers 2, Cyclists f*** off and die, you’re not wanted or protected

Chris hoy is nearly 15 stone.

I’d put my money on him if the XC race is 200m long.

Chris Hoy’s thighs weigh 4 stone each the rest of him is pretty light.

    Tricky one.

Sufferfest or Intervals are safer on a turbo.

Rollers are good for core strengthening and technique.

I just use my normal tyres on the rollers.

I just went to the local pound shop and bought a selection of brushes – they do the job as good as any bike specific ones without the inflated price tag.

But if you insist on ‘proper’ brushes, Rutland had some Christmas offers.
