May I suggest one of these:

I’m lining up one for Eye jnr. I saw a couple who had one for their boy who was 16 months old (in trike mode).

It goes from 1 up to 5 years old.

    Very clever idea.

    More info here

Pashley Poppy or Princess might be just within budget.

Glad to know it’s not just me then.

    Service with a scowl.

    Where’d you find that?

My memories of Chris was he was a bit moody, he’d just scowl at you when you were in the shop.

    Don’t think he liked teenagers.

The shop’s still around so get it in there, they might buy it off you.

The windshield only fits a quill type stem attachment so the one I ordered is still waiting to be posted back to Wiggle.

    I’ve got one of these.

The only issue is that Mrs Eye and my knees hit it as the head angle on the bike (Kona Minute) is a bit slack, so I’ve got to make some angled spacers to level it up a bit.

Other than that it’s super light/secure and seems very comfortable but it does make the turning circle bigger.

We don’t do many miles mostly short runs (supermarket/ taking the dog out) at home and then a few 500-1000 trips a year.

So would we better off with a petrol or diesel?

Also they will be 10/11 plate not sure what model (facelift/non facelift version) exactly.

But it will be a 318d as they are good on emissions and economy.

Going for a manual with a FSH (main dealer). So hopefully there might be information as to ‘what’s up and coming’

Drop the fruit replace it with Veg.

Try cous-cous or quinoa as a carb or just have salad, nuts and chicken or fish.

Id rebuild it on my own dime my self – i wouldnt pay someone else to do it – and youll be lucky to find anyone outside of an engine builders to touch it – most garages these days wouldnt know the inside of an engine if it jumped up and bit them in the arse.

    I’d love to give it a go myself but I don’t have a garage/drive/equipment.

    Hora.

The 1st turbo was fitted by a Local mechanic (who my brother uses) as it went when we were on the way from Rochdale to Abersoch.

The 2nd popped on the way back to Rochdale from London and was repaired at a Ford approved service centre in Manchester.

This time it went on the way back from Shrewsbury and we were recovered by the AA. I drove it to the the Ford service centre in Walthamstow as it was supposed to be a warranty replair . It was there they decided to do a further inspection and found the metal fragments etc.

The Ford garage quoted about £5800 for the repair.

They said they found metal debris in the feeds for the turbo, sump and some other filters/pipes/thingymagics and as there was no soot deposits in the turbo they can only assume the metal is from excessive engine ware due to low oil pressure. There was no warning lights on in the car and the oil level was fine. They only stripped the engine as the turbo failed within 2k miles of being replaced so decided to investigate why it had failed so soon.

I know that main dealers are expensive but even an ebay engine/turbo and other bit’s will cost about 2k then with the labour and ferrying the car about it’ll mount up.

The biggest reason why I want rid is that the 1.6 Duratorque engine design is a complete lemon, it was only in production for a few years as it’s prone to burning oil and killing turbos.

If I drop a few grand on a new engine there is no guarantee the replacement won’t go the same way. Having already spent £2000 on it in just over a year I really don’t fancy pouring any more money in a 7 year old car.

Nothing yet Hora, I just got the bad news this morning.

It’s at the Ford Service Centre with the engine in bits and I owe them £300 for the privilege of them telling me it’s goosed.

A newer Focus and the Volvo S40 are on the list already.

I’m not really into cars as you can tell by the shortlist and living in London we need don’t really want anything bigger as parking is an issue so that rules out the SMax.

Wharfedale, thanks but we need one as soon as possible.

That’s my friends brother who was killed. Whether this was made up or not it’s a **** disgrace and whoever did so is a **** of the highest order

I’ve witnessed the devastation Stephens death left behind and the pain is as raw as it was when it happened. It’s bad enough that no one accountable for his death without this shit being published.

Those PDW look nice but I’ve ordered a pair of SKS longs now.

Didn’t really rate the raceblades – performed ok but fell apart after a year’s commuting and needed quite a bit of adjustment week to week.

My other race blades have lasted at least 5 years of commuting and for the last 2 I’ve not taken them off. The only reason I’m getting a new pair is because I’m a lazy sod and didn’t put the screws in the rear guard and it removed itself going down Piccadilly this morning.

I found using cable ties on the rear instead of the rubber straps worked much better especially on my skinny seat stays.

If anyone needs the rear mounting bracket and a front guard it’s yours if you cover the postage. If you’re in London then I’d gladly meet you and hand them over.

I really feel for you both. It’s all so gutting.

It’s the simplest/easiest things in life that turns out to be the most heart wrenching/emotionally taxing experiences.

As everyone’s said above, time heals and when it does happen all this will fade from your memories.

I’ve had a Joystick mostly for commuting since 2008 and it’s been really good. No sign of the battery losing charge. It’s now joined by a flash up front which is just as good.

I’d buy one of the bigger lights if I did night rides more than twice a year.

However I’m not so keen on the rear lights as everyone I’ve seen seems to be shining right in the eyes of the rider behind.

Can you pour some Coca Cola in from the bottom and leave for a while?

It’s a well used trick for when Alu seat posts are stuck in Alu frames.

The soloist is 32/17 when SS but I want the option of gears for when the baby seat is on and I’m out with the Mrs.

18t will be fine I think for my needs.

I just wanted to make sure I didn’t have to buy a larger chain ring as most standard Alfine setups seem to have a 38t chainset.

Thin cotton jog pants/tracksuit bottoms and a thin wifebeater or t shirt or even a old pair of Ron Hills and a HH life top would do.

It’s not a fashion parade (unless you’re well into it).

@anus I read it before going to bed and thought my eyes were playing up. I had to re-read it 4 times then ask Mrs Eye to read it who confirmed it didn’t make sense.

I thought it was my brain switching off. :?

SwissStop for me are well worth the money, but at £25 for a full set it may be more than you’re willing to pay.

I’ve tried cheaper ones and they’re good in the dry but rubbish when it’s cold/wet.

I fitted them in September and commute daily (400miles+ a month) and they’re not that not even halfway down. BTW I don’t clean my bike much either so there’s quite a lot of road filth build up on in.

    1. Open car door have dry stuff on seat hanging over glass.

    2. Get naked standing in an Ikea bag. Dirty stuff goes straight in bag

    3. Work top down so the overhang of fresh clothing covers any wobbly bits you want kept out of sight.

    4. Dismount ikea bag by sitting on car seat for putting on of fresh socks/shoes.

    Job done.

ou were listening to depressing Mogwai songs?

It was their Les Revenants soundtrack. I was enjoying it but the ladies weren’t and there’s more of them than me.
