The base will be the FamilyFix one, so it’s good for a toddler seat or whenever they’re ready (tall/heavy enough) for a booster seat.

Thanks for the posts, I ordered some POC VPD2’s on Friday which came today! Nice one CRC.

Had them on all morning (around the house – not really the best test for them) and they didn’t budge, unlike the Sweet ones which were around my shins in less that half an hour.

I ordered some 661’s from the PSA on Friday as well so will see if they’re any good. They get good reviews but not sure if they’ll fit as well as they POCs – due to my uniquely shaped legs.

My wife wants the carseat to fit on the pram etc, so it’ll click on to that and then click on to the base. It’s our first so you can excuse the wanting everything to be easy to get right and just work mentality.

She’s lined up a MaxiCosi Pebble that will fit on to the pram travel system and all that business.

Baby’s not even come yet and has practically cost the price of a Mojo, just as well I have one! 😀

Watch out for the what kid/bike seat threads over the next year!

I think that’s why Mrs Eye want’s it. Once it clicks it’s in, there’s no messing about with a seat belt .

Ransos: the Focus fits without cutting, it’s the C Max you’ve got to cut the seats on.

Shuhockey, I’ll drop you a mail this evening.

You do know it’s no more secure, don’t you?

No, Mrs Eyes been doing the research. But do tell.

    Just ordered some thanks?

Hopefully they’ll fit really well and stop me buying some POCs

One of those stylish plastic discs?

A pie plate, every geared bike should have one.

    some special arrangement with physics.

    I’d like one of them.

BTW I’m riding my rigid single speed and loving it.

I’ve put some suspension on it when/if the weather ever gets better.

How much difference is there between a HD and 2008 Mojo rear end?

I spoke to a Scottish bloke who did the Dragons Back at CyB on one a few years ago. He let me have a go and in the 30m I rode it, it didn’t feel heavy and the wheels turned easily.

Can see the attraction but it wouldn’t be in the top 5 bikes I want.

But if anyone was to lend me one for the weekend I’d happily ride it. 😀

Are rollers that hard to ride on that you can’t watch a bit of telly whilst on them?

You can watch TV but they require a lot more concentration than a turbo. A momentary lapse means you can wobble and you don’t want to do that.

If you’re good on them you can even do this

Sadly I’m not so it’s both hands on the bars for me.

I’d stay away from the Tacx ones, I’ve got them and they have the following issues:

    1. The bearings become loose in their housing which makes them extremely noisy, so much so it puts you of using them.

    2. The levers that lock the sliding arm in place slip so the front section is very slightly out of square dues to the tension of the rubber tube pulling the middle roller back.

Both these problems can be fixed; the first one with some thread lock and the section by putting some sand paper between the plastic locking lever and the frame.

When they do work they’re really good and the first time on them is a real eye opening. Unlike turbos you can’t switch off as you have to concentrate on your riding position.

If you’re on a budget the Blackburn Mars lights are really good. Super waterproof and robust. I’ve had one over 5 years and it’s still going strong.

Another vote for Lusso, really well made and a very good fit. That’s coming from someone with stick legs.

I got a Moon shield as well and it’s v.v.v.v.bright. Well made and has 5 settings.

I really like exposure lights (I have a joystick, white eye and flash) but for a rear it had to be a Moon.

Stiff, turning the bars or the wheel rotating?

    Where are you riding?

AS above your mooooosif tyres being really draggy due to the frost/mud combo.

I got stickers, with my disc pads!

So a positive experience from me as well.

    Yay for stickers!

We have 2 chimney pots capped with the pottery ones similar to Bedmakers link.

The fact they drop in means they’re not going anywhere in a hurry.

    *Morning Kryton :-)*

After yesterday’s slog, I think the only solution would be to ride flats.

Think that’s what I’ll be doing next time.

I bought some Shimano RO87 road shoes in 42 as they were the same size as my Shimano MTB Shoes but had return them for the next size up.

    Hi Alex,

There’s nothing wrong with hankering after expensive stuff, so when you decide to upgrade can I have dibs on your cranks? 😀

Without people constantly upgrading I wouldn’t have half the stuff I don’t need.

There’s a thread running at the moment BIKEvBIKE and there’s a bit of that talk going on in it.

As it’s not a ‘journo’ saying it I thought the average rider/laymen could tell.

Kryton57, Lippits was really good. Fast all the way down just a bit boggy at the bottom.

I was on my SS last night and it felt harder going than usual, that may be due to the other 4 pushing harder than on weekend rides. They were all on their geared FS’s. Quite a few frozen mechs, seized jockeys. I was the only one not to have a technical. But I could have really done with some front suspension and maybe a granny ring. 😯

@Kryton57 it was well on it’s way to being solid yesterday. But the gloop is still there under a frozen crust, it doesn’t quite kill your momentum now but it’s still tough going in sections.

From Chingford to High Beech was petty sloppy but the other side wasn’t too bad. If the weather holds up it’ll be brilliant by the weekend.

My first night ride since I was in my 20’s!

11 miles this evening in a frozen Epping forest. Everything froze, my toes, brakes, Camelbak, the mud I collected on the bike and my shoes.

My feet looked like 2 dog poo’s after the ride.

I ss’d my Kona and didn’t need a chain device, the tensioner will keep the chain on the rings.

If you’re going single speed a conversion kit is ideal. It just so happens I’ve got a DMR on for sale (used 3 times) if your interested.

If you want to go 1×9 then you will need a chain device.

Howies Ventile jeans – utter rubbish, sold as waterproof riding jeans. The fit was good but they sounded like they were made from paper and when it rained you got wet very quickly.

    1. Gore Windstopper jersey 2003.

Bit bobbly on the mesh from bags/packs, a few scuffs on the shoulder from a cartwheel but still works and the printed logo is still there.

Bought when on sale for £50 and has been worn all year round on and off road since. Absolute bargain.

    2. Helly Henson Lifa thermals

They never seem to wear out, my oldest must be from about 1997 and can’t tell it apart from the newer ones.
