Next time you go, make sure to eat a large bowlful of lentils or whatever else food stuff gives you Windypops beforehand.

Then when you feel suitably aggrieved, leave them a silent but violent protest and wander off casually.

    That’ll teach them. 👿

*doing it in you grundies is optional but you’ll definitely stretch everything out.

A bike fit will cost about £200, then you’ll need to buy the new bits that are recommended. Most of the people I know who’ve had them have had it as part of buying a new bike. If you want 2 bikes fitting that’ll be £400 plus parts.

I’d look at new gloves/grips saddle position myself first. If you ride with someone regularly ask them to see/take some pictures and try to work out what’s making your hands hurt.

Is there too much weight one your hands?

    Is your saddle position correct.

Nice, I’m thinking about putting my Durins on the Soloist.

The frame looks brownish in your pics, what colour is it in the flesh (metal)?

Tried to order a new NBL a couple of months back and the fit is now all to cock. body big, shoulders narrow, sleeves stupidly short.

The Sensa does look nice indeed, particularly around the headtube intersections. The tubes flow into each other very nicely.

Obviously I feel really bad about this. Sorry.

Don’t apologise, just try harder! 😉

vdubber67 – Not mine no, but I did own one. A lovely, lovely bike, which I could wax lyrical about ( but won’t for fear of boring the arse off everyone

    It’s a friend of a friend.

Even if you were followed home how would they know you kept them in your kitchen cupboard.

How did they get through the door was it unlocked?

Ok, so we’ve established there are some nice looking Alu road frames out there.

But there’s not one that’s made be go f*** me that’s really nice.

The 2 Italian Jobs, CAAD 10, S Works and Giants have come the closest.

I forgot an obvious exception: the King of Smooth welds and Aluminium tubes.

Concentrate on the loveliness of the frame and exclude the horrible pink bar tape.

I had a bus driving going mental on his horn at me. Apparently I was not riding in the gutter as he expected me to. Thing is he wanted to overtake me to pull over at a bus stop 10m ahead of me.

They’re not renowned for their intelligence bus drivers, unlike black cab drivers! 🙄

IME accidents are dropping as the number of cyclists are increasing year-on-year so they have no option to be mindful as we’re everywhere.

I think it’s the welds I’ve got issues with, the two Italian numbers are especially nice.

A pound a metre from my local physio.

Currently using red for my rehab.

I’d get his number and get it posted as that’s a very good price.

The driver sounds like a right C***, knowing he’s done wrong and trying to report you before you get a chance to do him. Hope he gets done/loses his job/home/wife/kids and ends up feeding the fish somewhere.

Well done on staying calm and letting the law take care of it (however reluctantly)

wilson5spot: I could be interested in the forks if Magura are being D1cks and not supplying FCRs anymore.

That’s if you’re splitting the bike and they’re 140mm travel and have enough steerer. Quite a few conditions really but I’d be interested all the same.

CF out of interest why’ve you talk yourself out of a Mojo?

Don’t get he whole baggies thing, but with dropper posts now there’s not much chance of getting the crotch caught on the back of your saddle.

Not a fan of the while MX look but do like a well made top that’s thermal/wind/waterproof. On the road bike I like lycra on the MB I like comfortable slim fitting clothes.

Anything that flaps around is distracting.

    1. SS chains come in 1/8in or 3/32in – which do I need and does the chain ring and freewheel have to match?

I wouldn’t if they’re not worn. SS rings and sporckets have longer teeth to keep engaged, if the chain slips off you might need, usually chains coming off are down to chain tension.

    2. In terms of chain line, if I’m using an On one SS rear hub and some old truvativ cranks (triple), what do I need to do to ensure a good chain line?

If hub has a screw on freewheel then you might be able to use spacers on the BB cups to twaek the chain line outwards but if it’s a SS frame and wheel the chainline should be correct.

    3. Freewheel…shimano DX seem to be the model most places stock. Are these any good and what else should I consider?

Ask Charlie the Bikemonger he’s a font of knowledge, but there’s White Industries, Chris King, Surley it all depeonds on how much you’ve got to spend.

    4. Chain suggestions?

KMC Z7 or KMC Z510 wil be perfect

    5. It’s got a QR rear hub…is it worth getting a couple of on one chaintugs to keep it in place?

Yes the Surley or On Ones will do, with the former being better.

    6. bash guard to help keep the chain on?

You shouldn’t need one if you chain tension is good.

    7. Lots of hills in ramsbottom. I’m reasonably fit so what gear ratio??

Not sure, I rode with Donk on his SS at Christmas and that was at Rivington Pike, you can contact him and ask but think he was on a 32:16. I’ve got 32:18 on mine but I like to spin.

While I’m here. Inbred max fork travel is quoted as 120mm. I have some spare 130mm bombers, which I’d like to use. Anyone run similar and find it OK?

Not sure but you could run 10mm more sag.

It’s a tricky decision as not many tests are focused on how durable components are they just compare aesthetics and weight. Does lighter mean more fragile or stronger ‘lighter’ construction.

    Think I’m leaning towards 105.

    Ultegra Di2 is lovely

I bet it is, but my bike gets ridden in all weathers to commute so fancy pants Di2 isn’t really an option, it’b be lovely but I’d feel less happy locking it to a lamppost in Central London. Isn’t the battery internal on Di2, I’d have nowhere for it to go on a steel Kona frame.

Have you considered SRAM if you’re going for a full groupset change?

Never tried SRAM, is it any good, is it better, does it last longer? I really like the way the STI’s work with Shimano is SRAM the same?

Is it cheaper to buy a complete bike with 105 in the sales and sell you present one?

Road bike groupsets are really expensive!

Sorry didn’t read your post properly.

It’s an 853 frame so I don’t really want to get rid and I doubt a comparable frame/bike would be less than£1500+, so that rules that out.

Full 105 is £399 and Ultergra as Trail Rat said about £605. The only issue with it is buying forks as it’s a 1″ headset.

‘I know 1″ it’s like living in the dark ages’ 😐
