Just assume they’re all out to kill you and act accordingly.

I gave up swearing at people who wrong me on a bike years ago, now I just give them a Paddington Bear-esque hard stare and they get the message. At least I hope so.

Ben Cooper – Any reason for the twin discs or just a novelty?

My guess is instant death by faceplant.

I’d cycle the 6 mile journey

You drive 6 miles! Not in London though eh?

Suppose it depends on what you do for a living and where you work. but you could easily do 6 miles in your everyday clothes and not turn up stinking.

but I would also say that no matter how depressing the weather is for riding on the commute it is still a hundred times better than being crammed on the tube with a thousand other bodies for 40 minutes each morning.

This for me is the best reason to ride a bike London, it’s even worse on a hot summers evening with all those ‘ripe’ bodies around you.

10 is probably the sweet spot, any less and you spend a disproportionate amount of time getting ready/changed each day.

I do 10.5 and feel it’s a bit short, I think about 15-20* each way would be ideal for 5 days a week. I’d have a very strong case for getting a new road bike with disc brakes if that was the case. You’re right about the getting changed bit. I was doing 5 each way and felt I spent longer in the toilets changing than riding.

*my journey is through London east to west so there’s no hills.

Has anyone heard the Agnus Obel album? Not sure if it fits in with the OP’s question but it really is quite good.

Give her a whirl, hopefully you won’t regret it.

I was working in Hammersmith last summer and riding from Leyton, which was a total of 28 miles through London. It was fantastic, I got very fit and it made riding at the weekends much more pleasurable.

I’m riding to Kensington not which is a paltry 22 mile round trip and would happily ride all weekend if I could, on or off road. Even on a bad day when it’s windy, raining and generally miserable I’d rather be going to work on my bike than on public transport as I find it utterly depressing.

Do it, you can eat what you want, get fit and if clears your head. If you’ve had a bad day take it out on the road, put a few lung busting sprints in and by the time you’re home, you’ll have forgotten what the problem was.

Someone on here bought a Kona Explosif 650.

So with the above post that’s 2 known adopters of the superior wheel size.

Signed, only 5k signatures at the moment need to build some momentum up on this.

Wonder if the taxi driver that tried to kill me this morning will sign it? 😐

I bought some terribly unfashionable 26″ wheels, they weren’t new as I don’t think you can buy them in the shops anymore. You have to hunt them down by ringing shops like J R Hartley did to get a book about fly fishing.

Oh, I also bought some tyres of the same size, I might stock pilling them as they’re going to stop making them a week on Thursday then we’ll all be screwed according to some.

I’m converting a road bike to 26 inch, if that counts

Always against the flow eh? You’re like a spawning salmon.

Formula also offer some nice looking forks at very reasonable weights.

I’m becoming a fan of their brakes so I posted up a few weeks ago asking if anyone has got/had experience of Formula forks. I got 0 replies, so it seems they might be good but no one has/uses them.

Tubes are as obsolete as 26″ wheels, it’s all about tubeless.

But if you insist, I harnessed the full power of Google and found this

Pikes are hideously heavy, my 545’s are 2.2kg I changed them for some Thors which are 1.76.

Big difference on the the front end that.

Not sure what the versions the OPs were but mine are the lightest out of the family.

If I’m in the pub for a debrief it’s a couple of bags of nuts.

At home it’s milk and any other protein rich food I can get my hands on.

Sometimes I’ll buy one of those Nutriment milk drinks, if I’m passing a shop.

Now I’m thinking about all the branch strikes the helmets had…..

    Might be time to replace.

Two were pretty tough, took a few blows to break them. One the lump hammer went through like compressed sawdust – seemed perfectly solid until it was struck and then just disintegrated without any noticeable resistance to the hammer.
It wasn’t the oldest of he three, nor was it the most used.
Don’t know exactly what that proves other than not everything ages at the same rate.

Don’t have to prove anything, you don’t need an excuse for smashing stuff with a hammer.

eyeride it – must catch up soon – epping must be rideable by now!

We went for a walk around Rangers Lane/Chingford on Saturday and the forest was looking quite dry. The group I ride with reported there was a dry line on most of the trails now. Hopefully the weather this week will widen them up a bit.

There’s also been unconfirmed reports of dust yes DUST.

I’d love a ride in the forest but the new baby, means the only riding I’m doing at the moment is commuting to work. At least I’m getting 110 miles in a week, better than nothing I suppose.

    Sanderson Soloist with 120 Revs.

Nice, I gots a solotist as well but with RC31s makes it a little harder work but it’s really fun.

Was thinking about suss for the summer, what’s it like with 120s, not too high at the front?

Post up a pic, far too many Cotics on hear and not many Sandersons, we’ve got to correct this imbalance.

Sounds like fun, where you riding to?

Wont such prolonged over-exercise leave permanent scarring on your heart?

Eh? He’s doing 82 miles. People do the South Downs in a Day and that’s about100miles, they don’t need a heart transplant after.

Dried figs, apricots and dates are nice don’t give you that sicky feeling gels and bars do. Takes some salty nuts as well.

Buy one of these for next time you need to gently persuade a part out without damaging anything and leaving a hand free to hold you brew with.

Riding the SS exclusively now so looking for flow and speed and keeping off the brakes has now become more important. I’m still slow and technically crap, but taking away gears has helped my riding.

    Rigid forks?
