I had the same, couldn’t solve it, so I checked the mech hanger, replaced and it was all good.

My guess is that due to getting more gears in the same space the gapping is that small now that the smallest amount out and it won’t line up.

Changed to a new cassette and mech after the first year and still no issue, on the original installation guide when it was first launched they did show that you check the hanger with an alignment tool prior to building up.

    I have a similar issue.

Went over the bars on a rock garden at Hamsterley 4 weeks ago.

Went to AE same day and the nice lady at XRay said my radius was fractured, doctor told me to come back in 3 days and I would be placed in a cast.

When I went back, the fracture clinic put me an NHS brace on and sais come back in 3 weeks for a further XRay as I may have damaged the Scaphoid.

I went home and bought a Bioskin wrist brace ( use there knee ones for skiing and your soon get used to them)

To my surprise when I went back last Wednesday, my Radius has a crack down it from the wrist. So potted for 2 weeks then a splint for 2 weeks. I should have been going to Peebles for 4 days today and all cancelled. Turbo trainer only for me.
I feel it is now ready for riding Trails but want to wait until pot of next week.

Bioskin brace will be used for a few months for strength and protection.

    I’ve had x2 pairs.

1st pairs lasted 6 months, sole issue as discussed above, emailed five ten who asked me to send them back. Got replaced and second pair have lasted 12 months and will easy last a further 6 months.

I wear them quite often so was happy with service and 2 pairs for price of one.

Soles on this style has the Grippier rubber and is softer, I think the new style has gone back to the older material.

    I got a front today, £56 for a front and rear-I’m stoked.

Rears went out of stock, (got an old one anyway)

So I bought a front at £28 to match it, today a 142 x 12 shimano rear turned up.

I’ve ordered another front and I’ll be keeping the rear.

I set up out the box, to the video, full compression of shock for chain growth, tool for B tension etc and had issues with it between the largest ring and the next one down.

then watched video again and picked up and asked myself why they use the mech hanger tool first. Found out though when I put a new hanger on and it worked spot on and has for 8 months.

I’m guessing the more gears on the rear is giving the chain and the clearances involved between it starting to engage/ride up to the next gear a lot less free space and therefore you need everything to be spot on or it will start to ride up or down.

I had a week here last August and rode alone, this and the confusing signage(8th summer in the alps for me) made it seem weird at first. although when you stop overthinking it, I did find it quite nice riding through peoples gardens and hotel premises finding my way out to the road at the bottom.
I did proper scare myself by doing the black on riders right from the top lift after rain. It was used for the EWS and looked so good but when you realise that you are out on a ridge in the woods with lots of roots and no traction, a lot can go through your mind. I remember having a lot more respect for the pros after. Bruises on my inner thighs from the seat took a week to get over as well, so you could say it is steep in places.

Would I go back yes – but I would want to take my mates if I was going on that run again.

    Hi,

Got some for my friends bike recently.

I got the headset number from the bike spec, then went on Cane creek website and there is the drawings of the headsets on there. From this got the bearing numbers and ordered from CRC.

    All found through google.

Phone number isn’t working and I have seen people mention no communication through email.

All seemed to go quiet, at the end of August.

Staying over in Samoens from 4-12 August with miss’s and x2 daughters, if any of you guys fancy coming over for some of the singletrack, I will be riding alone.

I’m used to riding bikepark stuff in the Alps but find myself now to be an overweight 50 year old and fancy some good singletrack but don’t fancy getting stuck out in a back valley on my own.

Would be happy to give people a lift up to Lac Joux Plan after to get home, or even meet there to get the run down into Samoens.

    Hi guys,

There is, you can ride from the back of La Fee down to Cuculet, or off the back of the Vallee Blanche down to the valley below, but you would need to get the bus back for the Latter.

I got bored doing the bike park stuff(been many times before)and last year I started exloring most marked walking trails are ok, but you do get a few odd looks.

Ews went from the top restaurant on the Vallee Blanche along the spine and down the walking trail and a bit of off piste, cutting across the valley and down the walking trail behind the Enviromental lake, to Mont de Lans.
    t
I found a nice route from Vallee Blanche lift station, down pass the riding stables and coming out at the bottom of Mont de Lans.

    Hi,
Had the same issue and got in touch with them. They are based in Rotherham. Sent emails and they asked me to return them through the shop I bought them from – J E James, Chesterfield who kindly did and I got a refund again through the shop.

Hi I have had the same problem, when bled properly the lever should be in the full out position. I had to bleed the lever and put pressure on the syringe to fill the lever assembly fully and extend the lever. without this it wont work.

to set the theme the friend is very tight. While i have a full service kit in my tool box, he asked me to look at it as it was dropping, foolish i know, but i never checked and presumed it was the normal IFP oil level and so dropped the lower seal head of and set the height.
Put it in my stand and it had no dropping issue, when tried by hand. As soon as he took it back he fitted it and said it was slowly dropping. We went for a ride to cannock and after each section he showed me that when weighted it lowered a bit.

I know it was the original silver collar ones as it was mine 2 years ago, and i have read that they are known for this issue. If i take it to pieces fully i wont put it together without new seal kit. That means £40 to him.

    I have done this

Hacksaw in half, clean with a sheet of sandpaper, run a lighter over the area cut to burn any burrs. Hole for Allen key runs all the way through so it tightens up ok.

Only thing that can go wrong is that if it is not cleaned up right any loose debris could fall of and go in to the Airshaft seals.

I’m talking about the tool to take the last bit of oil out prior to attaching the hose.

    extremenik
    Free Member

I too have the tools and stripped down normal reverbs a few times.

However, now having a stealth have looked at the Sram manual on line and you do set the oil height differently and need another tool to take the excess oil out, prior to connecting the hose to the head.

If you find where to get one let me know!

This is a common side effect of it wanting a bleed!

    extremenik
    Free Member

Joking a side i never had a puncture over the 10 weeks I’ve done out there using DH tubes and Maxxis dual ply. Now using Exo on the Enduro and they seem ok.

Tighten all bolts, service suspension and take pads, and a bleed kit. My experiances are broken chain and i got brake fade once years ago- needed to use my camelback to cool the brakes down before i could continue. (Old avid brakes)

http://www.2alpes-bikepark.com Is the biking website, will give you the riding maps.

Always take bikes, getting out the Tunnel at 8.30 sat morning can get you in resort at 5pm with strict toilet breaks. Bike hire is about 45 euros a day.

Holiday letting and owners direct is best for accomadation. Also Sas or Strong Apartment services, Tory Strong is key holder for most english owned letting in resort anyway and is very friendly.

    Any more questions just ask.

Everyone has the favourites, but I have been going to les Deux Alpes for a number of summers and winters for 8 years. Got 2 girls now 16 and 18 and they still wont go anywhere else.

skiing, biking, ice skating, pool, lake Go ape and lots of walks. briancon and its fortification only 30 miles away. bourg down the mountain for shopping and chiling. all family have rode there at some point.

Opening up a few more Enduro trails to what they had when i first started going 7 summers ago, will be there 1st 2 months of August.

skied Tignes/Val a few times and stayed in Chatel/Morzine for the first week a couple of years ago, kids couldn’t wait to get to LDA for the second week as there is alot more happening in the town, restaurants and pubs are often looking after Skiers coming of Glacier at noon and the bikers come down for lunch.

My day normally consists of leaving family at pool or beech, go of riding then come down to meet up for lunch then go of again. Ride every ither day then do some walking and adventuring the other.

    Hi,

I too are heavy and come from a Dh background, everyone says air shocks dont work on heavy guys but they can when tuned properly.
I have a Trek remedy with the DRCV rear shock it has been PUSHED by tftuned and i use a small volume reducer. Up front i have pikes with 2 1/2 spacers.

Without the push tune on the rear the compression offered no support and blew through very easy, the Push stopped that plus the reducer helped, the larger one made it very harsh on the bottoming out so i went for the smallest.

I run 270 psi in it. The front has 2 1/2 Spacers with the pressure 110psi, i found 2 not enough support and 3 to harsh, so i played and cut one in half – Don’t forget with the higher pressure you need less rebound damping!

As for the rest of the bike i have hope hubs on Mavic EN521 rims, Easton Havoc bars and ride all over uk including Bike park wales + 2 weeks a year in Alps and have never snapped anything or even had a puncture. Did kill a front wheel once on the DH bike but that was my fault riding like a clown!

Thanks for the info, I’ve never used carbon before, as you say 30 years on spanners help with the torque wrench. but i would have missed that one.

I’m running alloy Havoc’s at the moment, thinking of going to Carbon for the ride quality.

I don’t crash alot and look after my kit well, but I’m quite heavy hence wanting to now strength of them. Interesting about torques as i would miss that one, i have a torque wrench but being a mechanic i don’t use it too often.

Had them for a year and when they where put in climb mode a light pull on the bars and they were then very firm and needed to hit something before they freed up, now there is no difference between trail and climb mode.

Are you guys saying yours have never firmed up.

Take the bolts out altogeher, then screw them back in until there is only 4mm of threads showing.

Hit with a hammer, composite hammers are best, rubber mallet wont shock it out of the seat!

The ski test is called the Euro test, and i beleive it is normally set by a racer, so it is tough, most ski holiday companies aren’t doing their own guiding now, i.e. Showing you around the mountain. The last year has seen an on slaught by the ESF to stop any non French companies with instructors not up to the French level being thrown of the mountain by the Gendermane.

I believe i read somewhere that if the French wish to guide bikes in the mountains then they have to go to the equivalent of Uni for a year.

Pitty we let anyone in this country.

Wouldn’t mind getting a council house in the French Alps, housing benefit for me the missus and kids. Oh and free medical attention when I fall of my bike.

Not being funny, but by venturing further a field you will find there is no Black route at Pines!

    extremenik
    Free Member

Local to pines and ride have rode pines and Cannock lots.

You wont get pinch flats at either unless you and your bike are set up wrong!

Hi roller and Minion combos in super tacky dual ply are the only tyres i use on my Dh in this country and France.

When I moved over to trail riding i started running 2.4 Advantage single ply front and rear. Found them slow but plenty of grip and moved to Ardents Exo which I have run for 2 years at lots of places in England, Wales and Scotland and find them great. I did leave the minion on the front after France last summer and find it trying to slid out alot at Llandegla, so went back to Ardent front and rear.

As much as both centres are flatish Cannock has the polished stones that can change the feeling of your tyres gripping in the wet.

I find that if i hold in with the Ardents and they will always grip.

Wont mention pressue as others do because everyone weighs/ride different.

I’m 18 stone and never had a pinch flat or other puncture – and I ride the Black bits at Cannock which are the only bits from both centres where you should get pinch flats.
