Damn tough on all concerned.
Condolences, and hope all are able to remember the good shiat.ex-patFree MemberI can see this happening to us actually, being the shrinking violet that I am I'll be visiting the school principle to spell out in simple words that I can't afford to donate, subsidising my children's activities is fine mind.
And, should I be earning a lot by then, well, I'll do what I can…
So, if you can't afford donations, then don't donate. If you can, then do.
I don't see what the problem is here?ex-patFree MemberMy Mum virtually commutes over here she's over here so often. She insists on Singapore Airlines, sometimes Business, sometimes Economy. But always enjoys the flight with them…
They're one of the cheaper ones too.
I think Korean might do something with an overnight somewhere in Korea as part of the deal, but you'd have to search for that. Some gent here mentioned it.
Andrew
ex-patFree MemberI think there's a large python in my garage.
Not seen it yet but its that or a possum, and there's nowhere for a possum to get in…
Meh.ex-patFree Member@ dorset_knob. If it had been some marketing thing, yes, yuck. But it's with the development & support teams, and they're much more down to earth. I'm not a big drinker, but this was a special occasion (someone leaving) and they're a good crowd.
None of the marketing nonsense for me!ex-patFree MemberGod I feel like the devil, I'm an IT PM and love it.
What's more, I can't recall the last time I 'filled in a spreadsheet'. I recall drinking from 12pm last Friday courtesy of the company, in fact every Friday is beer o'clock – a great team spirit.
Most jobs are what you make of it, and all that Prince II nonsense is just that, better to manage a project (or the six I've got at the moment) to success using one's skills with people, both to get things done and to protect your team from the ever advancing scope of management.
When the projects are going well I really don't have to work too hard – so a little skill and it's a great job.
Might add that I'm in Australia working for one of the larger companies out here.Worse, if it's possible, I use gears on my bike, eat at MacDonalds (occasionally) and I also didn't like the troll house thing that was posted here the other day…
ex-patFree MemberI thought the Melamine issue was that kidney stones occur, then complications and death ensues.
So, perhaps avoid, but not avoid anything with milk products in it?Read this
Of course, my entire knowledge is based on reading articles in the news, so is almost surely wrong.
Perhaps ask your local GP about the short/long term exposure to Melamine poisoning, they can then google/wiki it for you! 😉
ex-patFree Member5/24 apparently.
I don't expect much after this post, as being in Aus I often post at odd times, then the topics move on into the next day…ex-patFree MemberAye, to be fair my DH has a 2.5 on the front and a 2.35 on the rear.
Grip is good with my Nokian NBX 2.1's never had an issue. On another bike I've got 2.25 NBX lites, they're ace, but worn out so super sketchy on the corners – much fun!
ex-patFree MemberFor XC, hate hate hate.
For DH, nice!
For doing epic rides in Spanish mountains, suicide (nearly).I think I'm the only person on the planet now that enjoys riding on 2.1 tyres when doing XC. Never been an issue with them… 🙂
ex-patFree MemberSounds like he was trying to recreate one of these (albeit FS):
These old specialized's had a 24" rear as standard, often with monster t's on them. Used to really want one, but ended up with a Norco Team DH3, it has the same rear but set up for a standard 26" rim.
Crazy fork setup though.
ex-patFree MemberMe too. And ut's 3:48pm. Someone herwe's on thier leaving lunch, and w've been at it sine c midday and aboutnto hit the 4pm 'fricaay drinsks"
Class.
ex-patFree MemberAll that non-addressed junk mail you lot get, put it in an envelope, address it to their PO box (no stamp) and send it on.
That'll keep their claims officers busy – sorting through what's genuine or not. And should give them a headache in paying for the letters to eh?Would this work?
Though I realise this has really nothing to do with the letters you're about to ignore…
ex-patFree MemberSurely a new large ring (oooer) once a year or so* is cheaper than the bash guard approach during the life of the bike, and what's more you can use a large ring, whilst a bash is never able to be used.
On an XC bike, it's just fashion surely?
Just baiting a bit, but interested in oppinions as lots of folk going the double route.
And as for chain dropping, if it's OK now, losing a ring isn't going to make it any worse surely?Andy
* Happily riding with XT big ring missing teeth at the moment thanks to rock interface error.
ex-patFree MemberI quite liked the pyramid concept. But it's about perspective I think.
After all, waiting to cross the road this morning there was any number of near misses, but I was on the pavement and the cars were on the road. And thinking about it, if we live with a 'what might have happened' approach then we'd never get anything done. That would be the base of the pyramid wouldn't it?
ex-patFree MemberFree, and easy.
The only pitfall that my parents had (and a mate for that matter) was that in installing the camera there was another video chat applet that loaded. And if that was running it took control of the camera…
It's been a common thread when we've skyped that they've had sound but no picture. Trying to explain that they have another application using the camera is hard, normally they reboot and all is good.
So, advice would be to only install drivers for camera if at all possible, not the extra junk that comes with it…Other than that, most excellent, and I'm using it in Kubuntu too, so good on Linux (and sends to PC)!
ex-patFree MemberStart with your table design – if it's a simple database then something you can represent in a single table should do it – consider how you'd represent it in a spreadsheet.
Then, you'll want to write some queries – use the query wizard for that, much easier than trying the SQL view.
Then, wrap it up in a form or two.But to be honest, it's hard cos it's prototype data/application land, albeit snubbed by any developers the world over.
You can do a lot of damage in a very small amount of time with Access…
ex-patFree MemberReal men have kids. If you have kids you'll cry*.
Andy
*Even if it's because you've been head-butted in the happy sack.
ex-patFree MemberGosh we're a high-brow lot…
Now I'm reading the Ender series, before I read the Dirk Pitt saga.
E-books and long train commutes are great. The Tom Sawyer couple of books was one of the best set of recent months.
Reading The Hobbit to my 3 year old at the moment (suitably censored in places).
ex-patFree MemberI liked it too. Not 'deep' but a good yarn.
Preferred men who stare at goats though, but that's never been that well received…ex-patFree MemberI'm not veggie for sentimental reasons – I've killed and will again.
I don't like meat, and it's more efficient not to eat it – only around 10% of energy gets passed up to the next level on the food chain (very basic, but basically true)
Good for you, and apologies for thinking it might be . Actually, having started the bashing (maybe) I will say that a balanced diet is what it's all about.
I'll keep eating it because I like the taste of it – I don't eat snails cos I don't, and I don't eat celery for the same reason. If there's a name for that then I'm it!ex-patFree MemberFront wheel can't be great either I suspect…
Nasty accident though I reckon, glad you came out of it so well…
ex-patFree MemberOver here it's normally served chilled – it's hell out here in the colonies I tell you.
ex-patFree MemberOur bin folk are ace. We 'rent' a larger bin cos of two kids etc. And most weeks it's packed so solid I'm surprised the automatic doobry thing can lift it to tip it out.
But, the frigin postie – now they're having a laugh…
We have a mailbox out on the street (on a wide verge if you like), and if they can't drive up to it and shove the mail in without getting out of the car we don't get it. What's more if it's pissing with rain then they delight in not pushing it all the way in.
I can cope with this, the only mail I get now is bills (the other half gets the parcels etc), but the feckers have started to wheel spin away leaving huge ruts in the ground.
I'm tempted to take issue, but then my mail could disappear. Other option is to dig the ruts proper deep as they're using some soft-roader 2wd nonsense to deliver (better mailbox:car-height ratio I think), that'd sort them…ex-patFree MemberWasn't. But now over here in Aus and a Heckler is just too capable to make a lot of the trails fun. DH bike is wasted too.
On the other hand, hardtails are fun here!ex-patFree MemberI'm of farming stock…
I get even more irate with overseas folk (when I was in the UK) refusing to eat the beef 'cos of all the mad cow and foot and mouth.
Utter tosh, and a long tirade from me when I hear that.
For me it's tomorrow…
ex-patFree MemberMan Nappies.
Scotch.
Life insurance.
Will authoring service (by phone).ex-patFree MemberBoxelder,
Why?
If it's because fish can't feel pain, they can, research suggests: here.
Never understood that whole I'll only eat chicken or fish or whatever.I've got eyes in the front of my head and canine teeth for a reason, and it's not to hunt carrots. Fair comment from some about poor animal conditions and all that, but there are options around that which we exercise when we can.
And frankly I'd rather eat a raised animal than pillage the sea for fish that have uncontrolled stock – last time I looked we weren't in danger of running out of beef…Anyway, someone had to bite, and I guess it was me! Apologies to you Boxelder, it's your choice even if I think it's nonsense.
Our three year old knows that chickens are good to eat, that lamb is both meet and a fluffy animal and that lions etc are top of the food chain. Whilst we won't sit down and watch an Attenborough about killing etc we have gone through Africa books, some with lions eating etc. She's never been fazed and as it's not something we draw attention to or try and avoid it's accepted as part of what animals do (that being eat each other). And we're just another animal in the food chain – she gets that too. Or at least as far as a three year old does I suppose.
Should stress again, it's not an every day event to show my kid animals eating each other, just when a picture comes up we don't shy away from it.ex-patFree Memberone of my sons went through a phase as a toddler of jumping out the bacth the second the plug was pulled as he was scared he'd go down the plughole like incywincy spider
Actually I told my three year old that. Gets her out of the bath pronto. I think she's wise to me really though.
She's somewhat scared of spiders too, though that's cos we're in Aus and it's terminal to play with them…
ex-patFree MemberFillets – rare. Rump medium. Something worse (Braising anyone) then burnt.
If I'm going to a place that's poor quality then I prefer well done, makes the gristle easier to eat…
ex-patFree MemberHaving tried face plants with and without a FF helmet; when I consider the risk of a speedy dismount is high (the more extreme XC & DH) I'll be wearing a FF helmet thanks.
If I had been wearing a FF in one incident I reckon I'd not have the broken nose I do now.
Would I have given myself whiplash etc? maybe, maybe not – but I reckon I could guarantee that with a FF I wouldn't have smashed my face quite so convincingly into the ground.ex-patFree MemberSo if black is black because it soaks up all the colours, is that why shite Ka bumpers go grey? Are they full?
ex-patFree MemberLOL at Mudshark. You are taking the p1ss aren't you.
I'm in MUNSTER, but that's on account of my looks.
ex-patFree MemberCould you get paper that has a large rectangle on the back?
Sign on the back please…Much easier.
